[quote author=EMANY01 post=29818150]So the defense head quarters spokesman was fully in the rights when he told Madam Oby off that they the military were "on top of the situation".
He got pissed by her pedantic and shallow statements when he was already busy with the business of dealing with boko haram in biu long before Mrs. Know it all made her twitter post.
As an engineer, I absolutely understand the Generals barely contained contempt ozzing from his responces to her.

You only know your true friends in times of trouble. I do not see how flying military hardware over Saudi Arabia skies would jeopardize their interest.

Right now it's obvious that these people have been seeing Nigeria as mumu and they do not reapect us.

Thats what you get when you have a weightless leadership that does not command international respect.

Say what you will, but I dont see how this nonsense would have happened during obasanjo's time. From south Africa to the United states and now Saudi Arabia. Wtf is really happening
its people like you and post like this make other countries look down on us. Now you know how harmful spewing hatred and unwarranted insults on your country affects not only the leadership but the entire nation. Please be the change you want.

Politics › Shocker!!the True True Size Of Africa by dlox147(op): 2:06am On Dec 28, 2014
LAST month Kai Krause, a computer-graphics guru, caused a stir with a map entitled "The True Size of Africa", which showed the outlines of other countries crammed into the outline of the African continent. His aim was to make "a small contribution in the fight against rampant Immappancy"—in particular, the fact that most people do not realise how much the ubiquitous Mercator projection distorts the relative sizes of countries.

A sphere cannot be represented on a flat plane without distortion, which means all map projections distort in one way or another. Some projections show areas accurately but distort distances or scales, for example; others preserve the shapes of countries but misrepresent their areas. You can read all the gory details on Wikipedia.

Gerardus Mercator's projection, published in 1569, was immediately useful because it depicts a line of constant bearing as a straight line, which is handy for marine navigation. The drawback is that it distorts the shapes and areas of large land masses, and the distortion gets progressively worse as you get closer to the poles. (Africa looks about the same size as Greenland under the Mercator projection, for example, even though it is in fact 14 times bigger.) This was not a big problem for 16th-century sailors, of course, and the Mercator projection remains popular to this day.

In Mr Krause's map (above) he seems to have used the shapes of the countries from a Mercator projection, but has scaled up the outline of Africa, without changing its shape, to show the appropriate area. An alternative and arguably more rigorous approach would be to repeat the exercise using an "equal area" projection that shows the countries' areas correctly while minimising shape distortion. These two properties are the hardest to balance when showing the whole world on one map. I decided to rework Mr Krause's map using Gall's Stereographic Cylindrical Projection (1855) with two standard parallels at 45°N and 45°S. Distortions are still evident at the poles, but for most countries shape is maintained, and their areas are shown correctly. As you can see (below), the results are distinct from Mr Krause's map. But however you look at it, his point is a good one: Africa is much bigger than it looks on most maps.http://www.economist.com/blogs/dailychart/2010/11/cartography?fsrc=scn/fb/te/bl/ed/truetruesizeofafrica

The Nigeria economy is highly undervalued. Its only situations like this that proves analyst wrong about the size and potential of our economy. And the key to this success is the size of the informal sector which directly and indirectly affects the size of our growing middle class, like I always say Nigeria is just one BIG market. You can hardly find a street/road in Nigeria without a shop, kiosk or some sort of make shift business... Kudos to our economic team and Nigerians. Always proud to be a Nigerian
Politics › Mutiny Comment: Military Warns Amaechi, Others by dlox147(op): 6:07am On Dec 27, 2014
The Military on Friday in Abuja called on politicians in the country to refrain from using political campaigns to undermine its operations.
It will be recalled that Rivers state governor and Director-General, All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chibuike Amaechi, recently, encouraged soldiers to protest against the Federal Government.
A statement issued by the Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, said this call was as a result of some distortions.
“In view of the series of insinuations, allegations and false claims being made by certain activists and politicians on the legal and disciplinary process in the Nigerian military, the Defence Headquarters finds it necessary to make this call.
“Politicians should avoid using the forum or medium of their political campaigns to incite or endorse acts of indiscipline in the nation’s military establishments.
“This call has become necessary as the trend got to another level on Tuesday when a prominent politician declared that soldiers have the right to protest Federal Government’s failure to fully equip them.
“It was expected that the fellow quoted or his party would have made immediate moves to correct this fallacy or erroneous impression being propagated, especially in view of the level of knowledge of his principal and candidate in the forthcoming elections,’’ it said.
The statement said since no such gesture was forthcoming there was the need to caution against “the propagation of this dangerous idea before it causes more problems’’.
It further said “the military institution, for the avoidance of any doubt, rejects this declaration and its intention in all ramifications’’.
The statement said the military law, as recognised by the Constitution of the Federation, is an appropriate legal document for the management of affairs of the military.
“The processes it outlines for handling military offences remain legal and will continue to be applied in the interest of the nation’s security and democracy.
“Individuals and interest groups seeking to play to the gallery by being meddlesome, sensational or mischievous in interpreting developments in the military are advised to moderate their activities with some decorum.
“It is clear that the false accusations which depend on unsubstantiated allegations being peddled about the military operations in Nigeria are intended to tarnish the reputation of the military and its leadership.
“The campaign apparently aimed at undermining constituted authority in the military must not be encouraged,’’ it said.
The statement said it was apparent that most of the comments in the media had been oblivious of the fact that the processes were still ongoing and yet to be concluded.
“The war on terror is not all about equipment, but mindset of both the military and the public, and inciting remarks can only compound the situation for all involved.
“The military is resolved to prosecute the counter-terrorism campaign with all sense of commitment by the rank and file.
“The tendency to suggest or encourage dissention in the system will not yield any advantage to any well-meaning Nigerian citizen.
“Politicians are therefore requested to guide their utterances as the military remains a veritable institution of the state.
“Those who seek to undermine or destroy it should be prevailed upon to stop the mission, considering the fact that the institution remains indispensable to government and its process under any dispensation,’’ it said.....for morehttp://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/mutiny-comment-military-warns-amaechi-others/

Adminisher:
What most people dont understand is that the President suffers from a very simple problem. It is so fundamental and basic that it sounds like one is being rude but the truth is very bitter.
The President is a very FOOLISH man.
Nigeria has had Christian presidents rulling cumulatively longer than muslim. Basic fact that can be verified. By the president casting the BH problem as muslims trying to get him out of office he made a serious error of judgment that will bite him hard im February. Boko Haram problem would have been different if another President had been in office be that president had been Odilli, Donald Duke, Uba or any other VP that Obj had smuggled to share the mandate with Yaradua. It is this basic truth that all other possible South East or South South presidents we should have had would have handled the whole situation differently that makes me mad at this president. Why would one man's term in office bring sp much hatred of the kind we never had with other christian presidents?. FOOLISHNESS is the answer. Wisdom is the only basic qualification for leadership and Jona is too self orientated to cultivate it.
I can understand ur frustration.. Truth be told Jonathan is smarter than your entire family put together and you know it. He rules over you and ur entire family, village and country and yet u think he is Foolish?. You are full of hatred and pride, but unfortunately that will not stop his re-election come 2015 so deal with it.

PRESS RELEASE: Students' Union Leaders Appreciate Jonathan, Condemn 'Political Tools'

PRESS RELEASE

Revolutionary greetings to all and sundry in the South West Zone, Osun state, Ife community and the generality of Great Ife Students on a successful host of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR for a special meeting with the Council of Obas in South West.

The leadership of the Students’ Union is appreciative of the listening character of the President as well as the efforts of individuals who facilitated the meeting with the President. It is imperative at this point to relay the product of the discussion with the President. The Speaker of the SRC addressed the President and submitted the protest letter which he personally received and gave assurances that the major issue in the letter – increment in fees is going to be addressed holistically in no long time as there are other schools that are affected. He committed himself to address welfare issues that affect OAU specifically.

Although some self-centered and politically-sponsored individuals attempted to unleash their demonic resolutions to deter and dissuade the union leaders from making pressing demands that will enhance the welfare of Great Ife students on campus, to make necessary demands for the reversal of fees and the reinstatement of some of our suspended students from the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. On his way out, the president stepped out to the cheers of the students, receiving a lot of applause from the entirety of Great Ife students and commuters having heard that he had committed himself on the increment.
Meanwhile, just as the Union President conveyed to His Excellency, we again implore the president to stick to his promise, as a man of honour and integrity, as Great Ife students are in great anticipation and expectance. The cheers you received today at the time you were leaving were premised on the fact that we believed you will address the increment immediately. Mr President, the reversal of increased fees should also be extended to all Federal Universities and pump funds into education in the interest of the country.

However, we condemn the attitude of some individuals who portrayed themselves as elements of frustration and cheap political tools. Through this medium, we warn them to stay away from OAU campus as they are not unknown to the leadership of the union. We maintain our ground as Intellectual Fighters for Emancipation and not as uncoordinated confusionists and anarchists.

The leadership of the Union is very much undistracted in the maximization of this opportunity to solve the myriad of problems confronting Great IFE students. We also remain committed to the execution of our proposed projects and the completion of ongoing ones – Angola and Mozambique hall water projects, Great IFE app, Union website, and buses for campus shuttle, union hostel, among others.
