But the surprise here is that IBADAN is the state with the highest internet speed in Nigeria. It has a download speed of 7.4 mbps and an upload speed of 5.8 mpbs.

While Nigeria our beloved country is the highest in Africa with an average internet speed of 322 kbps and a peak rate of 5674 kbps.. Though i agree with you that it is not yet uhuru for we Nigerians when you compare with other global countries.

Ok see, blog and forums are two worlds apart. It is just like comparing Flavour and Phyno; which of the two is a better singer?....

Forum is a community, you pay the bills through adverts which depend more on your traffic, which also depends on how you are able to engage your community.

Blog is a journal, you pay the bill through what you offer, and nobody will care about what you offer if you aint an authority in your niche. Also you pay the bills through adverts but you can never make a huge fortune from adverts because advert requires crazy traffic which you can only see in forums except blog on entertainment and new niche.

But here is a catch...

When you blog, you teach, when you blog you gather loyal customers, you feed them, you change their way of thinking, lead your audeince like a sheperd would lead his sheeps. Yes, you don't have much traffic, you don't gather crazy buzz but you have mines of gold within you. It pays your bill in a crazy way when done right... Think of copyblogger media.

In the other hand, when you build a forum, you own a village sqaure, you have a community, everybody hangs out and shares ideas, laugh, chat and tommorrow we all come again. You depend solely in your power of engagement. If your village square is full and vibrante, you pays the bill. If your village sqaure is scanty and dull, you starts advertizing it because your money lies in your traffic. When your traffic soars all goes good. But is isn't so with blog because you have already used email marketing in building a big family.

Now to the summary.... Every thing has its weakness and strengths...

Forums require crazy traffic to pay the bills which are mainly through adverts..... Your engagement and innovative power comes to full play here. If you are good in engaging a group of people, in organizing and keeping a whole lot coming for you, then forum here you come!
Blogs require a teacher type, more like a mother or nanny type of person, because you got to teach, nucture, solve their problem through copywritting and content marketing. Initiate them into being one big family through email marketing. If you are the type that have a sheperd mind, that likes to lead, show the road, and make people feel like they belong somewhere and not just that they always come somewhere, then blog here you come!

Now back to me....

If you ask me of the two which one is profitable i will tell you that your question is very wrong because they are opposites. If you have asked between an entertainment blog and a tutorial blog, that one will be very correct, or between a technology forum and an all niche forum.

Then also....

If you ask me of the two which one is more difficult then i will say it is a blog. Do i hear you chuckle..lol.. Yeah, because a forum is just like providing an amusement park, every body takes there kid there, all you need to dos see to security, clean enviroment and safe play grounds. While a blog is like marrying ten wifes, having children from them, taking care of them till they grow up, they get married, you as the father still gathers them around you, look into the difficulties they are facing, try solving , cos as their father they are looking unto you. Much like Jacob and his family.

kudos all you all. The key is....know the type of person you are and the platform that suits you best. How much you make from it depends on you. How you are able to utilize it.

Like i said before, i have nothing against wysiwyg programs or the use of it. What i am saying it that it should be a helper and not a must for a webmaster....Also it must be a no-go for a beginner untill s/he gets the hang of web designing. If you must know i also use them.....am a good fan of wordpress too.

I said something about when you get lot of things in your hands to do under a limited time.. Then dreamweaver comes to the rescue.

I am a student of the old schools of thought that likes to take the longer and hard road because we believe it will make us hard, and flexible and help build our endurance... Applying this to web development, i most atimes don't like things to be made easy for me rather that i will make things easy for myself through experiments, mistakes, corrections, and endurance. I think that is why i am a self-learner.... I think that is why i didn't attend any computer college yet i once taught in one. I think that is why i own a wordpress website, bought a domain, and hosted it all by myself in a day and now am taking good care of it...without anybody help.

Well, our choices are different...but what i emphazise more on, is that beginners need not learn with any wysiwyg programs because they will get to miss a lot..... Agreed?

Have you been in a situation of debugging a badly written website with a notepad not notepad++ or sublime or any other text-editor that highlights syntax for you? You should know what am saying if you have because that is the most boring and hard thing to do. But after getting it right, trust me, you have attained a new level in your web development cycle.
