ddippset: I stand to be corrected Messi has a higher free kick conversion rate than Ronaldo. I stand to be corrected. You are correct until proven otherwise. But then, you are very much correct. Anyone who raises doubt should dig up the FK stats(taken and converted) for both players. |

ddippset: this guy nor wan get sense at all. We may have to call in the efcc and the paramedics to tie this guy up, open up his skull and implant a brain in there. He loves to talk about Ronaldo being in madrid for 6 years and Messi being in la liga his whole career. For goodness sake who doesn't know that free kicks were for Ronaldinho and then eto sometimes before Messi even became a first team player? Which football fan doesn't know this? How could someone possible talk about Messi and freekicks before 2009?how? I am worried for Krasid. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. God go bless your mama jare. The guy dey make me laugh that's why I no bother quote am again. Besides, Tito was the one that told Messi to be taking freekicks during Pep's last season. Come to think of it sef, that Tito (RIP), the guy was really the brain behind Pep ooooooo (that is not to take away anything from Pep). Many decisions Pep took were actually from Tito (like the false 9). |

barackohandso: His best season was the 2011/12 season where he scored 73 goals and 91 calendar year goals albeit that season didn't lead to a lot of trophies. This is probably his best season both individually and collectively. I don't know about his best or not. What I know about is that, this is the best version of Messi yet. He has transmogrified and reinvented himself from being dependent on Xaviesta, to being the creator cum finisher. Now, he is Xaviesta + Messi. Not to mention he defends more now than before. I couldn't have wished for a better version than what he is now. If we take the 2011/2012 season over this, it would mean he is valued because of his goals. And that would also mean Ronaldo could be compared to Messi for his goals. But why do we always value him more than Ronaldo no matter the number of goals Ronaldo scores? Still because of his other aspects of his game (that stats doesn't tell) which makes him far better this season than in previous ones. My opinion though. |

Spencer63: The list is not yet complete Then complete it! How many people them wan line at once? They can't mention everybody. Besides Messi is not there, whereas Ronaldo is there. Although I agree Messi is not so good with freekicks, but if Ronaldo is there, then he also deserves to be there. Mihaijilovic (spelt wrongly) should have been there also. But then like I said, they can't mention everyone's names. |

Chanchit: . @dmcdad, I know it would be a lot of job but it. Would be good if we know how many career FK this guys scored, maybe ranking them by that would be better then. But when it comes to just putting the balls into the net, I don't know how Juninho does it, the balls just enter though his fk's are ugly his technique is encrypted by merlin, while Pirlo's technique is not that far from Juninho's but his fk's looks prettier but for players like Ronaldinho, Beckham and Messi their fk's are a beauty to watch, while Ronaldo goes the blasting way. If Messi does not make the list, its not a Big deal cos he's not scored a fk of recent likewise CR7. Messi is not really a great FK taker. But frankly, in terms of taking FKs, if Penaldo is there, then Messi should be there too. Anywayz, Juninho any day of the week. That guy? |

Eruditor: In fairness to PIGO, Rosell and co sold him for $$. He didn't of his own volition ask to be sold. Be that as it may, I will never forgive him for disrespecting us consistently even after leaving La Liga. He always supported Madrid in any el classico and he even went further to work for Inter Milan and support Mou against us. The part where he waltzed round the Nou Camp celebrating that 3-2 loss in the semi-final in 2010 angered me the most.
Not even his children should be allowed to be Barca fans and if anyone remotely looks like him, even if the person plays like Messi, he should be ejected from La Masia. Lol @emboldened. You mean like this Pakistani-Suarez (preparing Shawarma) to Luis Suarez?

sebod: A question begging for anwser: why are Barca players always subjected to doping test whenever the team is doing fine? Or is it just a coincidence? I hardly hear of other club players being tested as much as Barca players. I stand to be corrected tho. You are right. Ours is extra much abeg. Although this is a standard procedure (to test 6 players from each team) by UEFA before a Champions League final. Surprisingly though, some players (around were subjected to tests last week also. yourangel: Speaking ahead of the Champions League final, Xavi explains why Sergio Busquets - his countryman and long-time Barcelona team-mate - is the man to take the mantle.
"I've got a soft spot for Busquets in every respect," he said. "He's a close friend and I think he's the player with the best understanding of football, both in attack and in defence, in the world.
"His game intelligence on the pitch is a wonder. And off it, I don't know anyone else whom I have the same affinity with. I think he's my natural replacement in the dressing room and on the pitch.
"He's destined to be the leader for Barcelona for the next decade, without a shadow of a doubt."
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11833/9868824/barcelona-legend-xavi-speaks-about-sergio-busquets-lionel-messi-and-how-his-mother-wouldnt-let-him-leave
My remarks:
Is this the same Busquets that our brother(s) recently berated on this thread? I want to assume 'no', but, if 'yes', then that was very unfair and uncalled for. Sergio has been one of our very best players over the past 6 years. He's been outstanding playing under different coaches; Pep, Tito, Tata and now Enrique. Although his role is not easily appreciated, but he works in the background to make the visible roles, like those of Messi and Xavi, perform efficiently and smoothly. I have always likened the role of Sergio to the lubricating oil in a working mechanical engine. Although one doesn't see the engine oil whilst the engine is working, however, without the lubricating oil, the whole engine would burn out and become 'kaput'.
In my opinion, Sergio has easily been one of the best players in the world in the last 5 or 6 years. He is the 'Messi' of defensive midfield. Your remark is spot on. I couldn't have said it any better. |

sebod: And I say it's 5-0 Haba! Na Almeria or Getafe? Remember! They have the best defense in the competition in terms of goals conceded. Although, we have the most fearsome attack in the world. More like a repeat of 2006 where Arsenal was the best defensive team (in terms of goals conceded) and Barca the best attacking side (in terms of goals scored) We shall see... |
