Romance › Re: Some Girls Don't Know How To Chat by dmcdad: 10:21am On Nov 23, 2013
Then you already know she doesn't want to chat with you. Do the manly thing and leave her alone.

Some girls chat freely with some people and less freely with others. If you fall in the latter you are most likely to get monosyllabic responses.
Either that or she's just too tired to chat with you at that moment.
Buh how come this same thing happens to most guys? The thing is, most girls don't know what a convo is. They are just plain ignorant. its not about not wanting to chat for most of em, neither is it about being tired or something. Its just about the fact that they are plain ignorant of how a real and matured convo should go.

At the end of the day, its still at their own detriment in the long run because it surely affects most of em when wanting to write formal English. I've seen someone who wrote an English exam using monosyllables and some useless acronyms.

Tell me, what's the biggy in typing you? They'd rather type yhu. 5n for fine, cum for come, I for hi, and so on... I know how many peeps I use to correct on the kinda words they use in updating their statuses. Not like they wanna imploy a monosyllable buh too much use of the monosyllabic and useless acronyms have taken the places for correct words to fit in. So, it affects a whole lot. And the earlier these peeps realise, the better for em

I know some guys are guilty of all these too, buh you would equally agree its very much common with the female species.

adexsimply: like seriously? I can't take more than three monosyllables in a row from "anyone"..I stop the conversation instantly
>>G: gud mori
>>me: good morning, How was your night?
>>G: fny(what da heck is fny?)
>>me: (30 mins later) How are you now?!!
>>G: fny
>>me: I see..(End of discussion)

Gbam! No time to accommodate pillocks
So you found a way to keep the convo going!! cheesy
Like I said earlier, you want to get her to let down the barrier. Take control of the direction of the conversation and keep the juices flowing.
My point is most of em are rather nonchalant in their response... Even for some girls that you already have acquaintances with. So its not just about the way they treat new acquaintances or strangers, buh its rather in them.

Seriously, most girls are not trying, lets be sincere with ourselves. If you did peruse through the post I quoted you, you would notice that the sample i gave up there wasn't an interaction buh rather an interview if I may put it that way. Should it be that way? I guess not!

I don't really wanna type alot here cause I already treated all these on the other thread...
Romance › Re: Some Girls Don't Know How To Chat by dmcdad: 9:57am On Nov 23, 2013
Vivly: I like this thread. Most boring conversations can be avoided if either person has something interesting to say. That way, the other person picks up and you have a nice chat
Exactly! It should be a two-way traffic to help make it very interesting. Most girls just make it seem like an interview. If you stop asking, then the chat is over. It ain't supposed to be like that for crying out loud. Some people won't just accept that.

I must say this; @sweet-tease knows how to chat and the way she chats is exactly the recommended way to chat and keep a convo alive. Alot of girls need to learn the rudiments of interaction.
OP read my mind. I am not disposed to two attitudes typical (AFAIK) to Nigerian girls. The first being the use of stupid shorthand -- kk and its variants, the second I believe is the cause of the first -- extremely low IQ.

I am very strict: kk, I, m k nu, stupid over churchy DPs and PMs == delete. I am afraid stupidity may be contagious. Hence, I have just 37 people on my friends list, no be by force.
Your own list even plenty sef.... Me na about 18 people I get on my BBM, and chat with only a handful of em...
So what if she really did nothing?
You end a convo because of that even when there's a million other things to talk about? undecided

Biko some of you just have no idea how to hold a convo.
I don't think that is the case... A girl who spends the whole day at home did nothing? Didn't she eat? Watch movies? surf the internet? take a nap or something? how about cooking? The list is rather endless. How about if it goes like this....:

Me:Hi
Girl: I
Me: What's up with you?
Girl: 5n
Me: How was the day?
Girl: 5n
Me: What did you do today?
Girl: Nothing(does that mean she woke up in the A.M and just saw herself in the evening? Maybe not.)
Me: (sometimes outta curiosity you might ask how come she didn't do anything all through the day)
Girl: I went to the bank before noon and on my way back I saw a school mate of mine blah blah blah(abeg that one no be something to talk about?)

Now, it would have been better for the girl to respond with "nothing special" buh I just woke up and after doing some house chores I ate. Power holding didn't even bother to restore power supply and thereby I couldn't charge my phone. Abeg with this, talk never dey to yan for subsequent minutes? Maybe the guy could pick it up from there and the both of em could chat about the issue of power supply in the country and before you know it, it might lead to some more salient issues and on and on it goes...

My dear, I know some guys can be dull and all, buh with most of the guys posting and complaining of the same thing, don't you think indeed most girls are just dumb? Now we ain't saying all girls are guilty of this, buh for Christ sake stop justifying these pillocks as this is as clear as daylight. It is rather glaring. The fact that you ain't guilty of this doesn't take away the reality that most girls in Naija are guilty of this.

mencade6: what! Highlight? Bro, you asked them a simple question and they failed woefully by answering k, kul, fn,yh, mknu, trd etc. If you make that mistake of asking highlight, their brain will encounter error. this is how their reply will be like:

girl: hi
me: hello harbosedee, good morning dear
girl: kk
me: hope ur nite was splendid
girl: yh
me: it was cold down here in ikoy, lagos.
Girl:gud

(later in the evening)

gurl:hi
me: hello dear
gurl: k
me: harboseede, how did ur day go for u
girl: fn
me: tell me the highlight of your day
girl:.
Me: am waiting for ur answer
girl: .
Me: what did u say?
Girl: don knw
me: u wont seize to amaze me
girl: .
Guy leave that bruv saying what he doesn't know.... I guess he is a stranger to naija girls when it comes to chatting and hitting up convos. How would you use the word 'highlight' in chatting with someone that doesn't understand anything other than monosyllabic and silly acronyms that make them dumber than they really are? Its like telling an illiterate for a conductor that you wanna alight, rather than use the conventional 'ówà' in lagos... Na last bus-stop you go see yourself with your alight. Lol

Sincerely, these foolish girls don't know anything about keeping a convo alive. I gave a brief explanation of what interaction entails in the other thread and I think some of the things I highlighted there are the core factors these ignorant girls lack.

Most of these girls are dumb, ignorant, foolish, clueless, insensitive, or just plain stupid... Infact,

Arsenate: no actually most of u are just dumb upstairs with nothing to offer. now I would have completely agreed with your above assertion if it's only a few naija guys that have experienced such rude backward attitude. but going by this thread and some others I have come across on nl, close to 90% have had such bad experience. 90% of naija guys can't be boring or ugly.
I still maintain that u ladies are just not smart enough to initiate and maintain a simple convo.
I pity my naija guys. stuck with y'all
God bless you bruv... I actually wanted to reply her buh when I saw your response I thought it wise to spare her my wrath... You nailed it!

Of one can type yhu in place of you, what stops the person from using the original spelling? Afterall both are three-lettered. Haba!

These so-called girls are always having problems writing writing proper English in formal settings cause of their monosyllabic, acronymic and useless way of writing. I pity em!

sanb: It ain't applicable cos; she is not having an open conversation (expressing herself) with you; rather she's having a closed conversation (One word answer)...If she was having an open conversation with you; then, it'll be like attracting like.....
Exactly my point...
Romance › Re: She Has Herself To Blame by dmcdad: 11:53pm On Nov 22, 2013
sanb: I'll call it neither....that's not a conversation at all.....it's more or less you trying to have an open conversation where she's expected to have a say; but for her, she's having a closed conversation which is a one word answer....

In all, as I said previously in one of my post; some people can have good conversation(s); whilst for some others, it doesn't come easy....
Good. I brought this to the fore in response to what you posted as regards like attracting like. You see that in this scenario it ain't applicable?

sanb: @bolded; then, you try and see if you can revive it and get it back to its blossom stage again; Hell yeah…..*Just kidding*…

I understand your analogy; but one thing I’ll point out though is; you’re what you attract…..so if you want a lady to put up some meaningful and positive response(s), then as a guy, you should be ready to take the bull by the forelock as you've said…i.e.. be a good communicator as well; and when you meet a lady who is up to the task; as in like attracting like; then it’ll be a WIN WIN situation henceforth...
You seem not to get the jeck here... I guess that was why you could hardly believe what that guy posted. Cause you felt it was very awkward of the girl. Seriously, this has gone beyond the level of like attracting like... Infact, its no way near that. What do you think about the below convo?:

Me: Hello
Girl: Fine
Me: Good morning
Girl: K(I sent a wish and by convention you should wish me same too)
Me: How was your night rest?
Girl: Kul (if you were the judge, would you rate this response a pass mark?)
Me: So what are your plans for the day?
Girl: Nothing
Me: Do you really think that teachers are better than doctors? Probably referring to her status or something. If you do, why? or if you don't, why not?
Girl: Yh (should this be the end of her answer)

From the above illustration, would you call that an interaction or an interview?

sanb: @bolded; it's still nice to be calm though...as against having the military style all the time as if you're running a military camp...I'm not saying you should take trash from any lady; but it won't be nice if you're harsh all the time...remember ladies are like flowers; and we need to be handled with care......having said that, a guy shouldn't be taking for granted either whilst he shows his caring side............ cheesy
My dear I understand you hook, line and sinker. The thing is, its not like I don't tolerate girls and their misdemeanours, buh when its unnecessarily and unreasonably irrelevant, those are the times they display their foolishness. Now as regards your analogy of flowers and women. How should a guy respond to a dead flower? Still treat it like it blossoms? Heck no! Not like women are dead or something, buh the way most of em react or respond to certain things in a lifeless manner (like the dead flower), how would you treat them? Of course like the dead flower, you can't treat them any better because they are worthless to some degree...

So, they wanna be treated nicely? Let them put up some meaningful and positive response, at least to some extent and see if the guy won't take the bull by the forelock.

ferhyntorlah: Please where is this rule found? Speaking for myself, you can't chat me without an opening salutation ie greeting-hi, hello, how are you doing, what's up?

I see it as being rude when someone just jumps into the chat directly. Chatting is indirect(non-facial) communication; so etiquette demands you greet before proceeding further.

If anyone chats me first time of a new day without greeting, I'll ask the person "what's happened to good morning/afternoon" before answering the person.

Please don't let social media erode the proper way of doing things.
Tell her...
Infact some girls these days respond to chats thus:

Me: Hi
Ignorant girl: Hi
Me: Good morning
Clueless girl: K.

Just tell me; what is the relationship between good morning and k? I wished you a good morning, it is imperative that I get such wish back in return and not some annoying and unreasonable monosyllabic 'k'. These truants are ignorant of these things.

Get d babe attention and be creative with ur words! Say something witty, funny or irresistable and keep it flowing!

U can start by sayin. Somtyn about her pm! Not dp all d time. Or if u must comment on her pic, instead of saying u look nice, u can pick an item on her:hair, blouse colour or somtyn and use it as an intro to ur conversation.

How about Valdez and Cassilas? they started early, didn't they? i don't think Stegen is too young to be our top GK.

ferhyntorlah: HisRib,

Please I'm seriously begging you, stop justifying the actions of these "silly" girls. Yes I said silly because it's a silly thing to reply a guy's chat with monosyllables and also keep him waiting like you're doing him a favour by communicating with him.

Stop saying it's african girls' thing; I beg to strongly disagree. Is it a sin to chat with a guy that chats you up? Most ladies don't know how to start conversation/chats with guys and when the guys do it, they mess up!

I've a guy friend on bbm I chat with often. There was a time I couldn't chat with him due to power outage; when we eventually chatted, he said he misssssssed me and our chats because I know how to initiate conversations and interesting ones too.

So leave that thing; if a guy chats me up, I chat him up too and I aint CHEAP!
That's what I am saying... A lot of these girls are either dull, clueless, foolish, truants or just complete olodos... Lol.

The whole bases of chatting is interaction.
Communication taught that in an interaction, the encoder/sender/instigator/the person that strikes the convo (however you wanna classify it) sends out a message to the /decoder/receiver. The receiver decodes the message and responds appropriately. At the time of responding, the receiver automatically becomes the encoder and the initial encoder becomes the receiver and it goes on like that.... That is why it is called inter-action, because the instigator initiates an action and at some point, the receiver is the one intiating the action (with a response).

If these co-called girls understand the rudiments of what interaction entails, I don't think they will be acting foolishly.
