Nairaland / General / Re: My Experience With Racists. by dmz(m): 1:45pm On Nov 30, 2014
It depends on how you see it sha, for me it's not even racism. It's even funny.

In the bus or train nobody seats next to me, I have more room especially if it's a long trip.

At the gym am the last to be asked how long I have to go on the squat rack or smith machine, another advantage. I wish I was even darker.

You would think that celebs would be getting cuchie thrown at them (I'm not one but still get free viewing on NL grin) and wouldn't resort to rape and all to hit it. If he is guilty let him burn.

likeseriously:

you are right. My boyfriend did that to me, he first started with sulking, then to silent treatment and I in turn started it too. Sometimes it lasts for weeks. It was part of the reason that cost me a relshp that was alter bound. The thing is that quiet people have for disposition towards silent treatment and he is the quiet type. But he's really someone to be with and I miss him so much. I called it quits with him but sometimes I have this urge to reconcile with him but can't do that cos I have pride and integrity. I am still regretting the way things went and I wish it could go back to before.

This applies to me. I'm quiet and an introvert so when you give me the silent treatment you're doing me a favour

100Cents:

The fact you do it doesn't make it right.

Seeing that you have High Self Esteem and you are Mature.

Please be diplomatic..

The fact that you can't deal with it doesn't make it immature or wrong either

Wellsaid, the bible is against it. It could even lead to cheating, because in those few minutes, the other party may seek some other companion (maybe online sef).

With time, the person may start looking forward to the silent treatment or intentionally annoy you, because it would be an opportunity to do what he/she pleases.

That is when it becomes immaturity or whatever.

People need to realise that different people will react differently to any given situation. If her/his way of dealing with issues where you were at fault is the silent treatment over a period of time then you man up and suffer the consequences of your actions.

If he or she gives out the silent treatment for everything then you reconsider your relationship

I agree. I do this, and it works. It's not like I plan it out, but I prefer retreating to arguing, and I need my space.

The longest SL treatment (full) I've been in lasted almost a year, and it was with one of my siblings. But I can only tolerate that one in small doses anyway...

A year with a sibling? That must have been a serious problem.

I can go months without speaking to my siblings but not because of a problem. The guys are not the calling type but the girls do keep in touch more often.
Family / Re: OPINION POLL: Silent Treatment - Maturity/immaturity? Good OR Bad? by dmz(m): 9:15pm On Nov 20, 2014
If you don't abuse it, it can be very useful in handling some situations. I don't give the full silent treatment sha, will respond to necessary questions concerning other important issues with the barest minimum of words in reply. With regards to the issue that brought on the silent treatment I won't give an opinion anymore, usually say stuff like "I don't know" or "do whatever you think is right"

If am the one receiving the treatment I usually apologise for whatever and if you continue then you are on your own, will give you space and wait you out.

It could be good or bad but I think it's necessary.

I guess being the one he comes home to, having his kids and stealing his last name {from your profile pics) is enough to ease the pain of someone else sharing your hobbies time, money and d1ck.

Waiting for her to get dumped and then waiting some more for the next one to get dumped. Issorayi..

Lie to get into her pants? For real?
Then she probably wanted the pants gotten into.
__Are you trying to confirm the stereotyped idea that girls give their 'factory' for material gains?

@ OP: It isn't general...it happens mainly in relationships where s*x and money is the root of it. Some girls believe that s*x is actually a guarantee for the guy to stay loyal.
__ you would hardly, see a team #NoS*xBeforeMarriage# say something like this.

What stops a lady from #Money4HandBack4Ground# join #NoS*xB4Marriage# later on in life.
She opens a mouth that has swallowed kum to tell her 20th bf NoS*xB4Marriage and somehow she is different from the stereotypes?
Is #NoS*xB4Marriage# for virgins or reformed stereotypes?

If I have cheated before, I'll confess right after her and we will discuss the way forward. If she cheated first we will still talk it over. Satisfying my physical urge is not one of the reasons why I would want to get married so I won't be ending the marriage because of it unless of course she wants out.

Truthfully,i'd be disappointed if i didn't win. I sacrificed lots of things for the contest and I'm so proud it wasn't in vain.

Kudos for being honest with your feelings. Enjoy the moment.

Travelled to Enugu and switched off her phone, came back two days later and told me that she had to give her cousin her battery and was disappointed when she switched it back on (on her way back), not to see text messages and voice mails from me.

I was speechless, eyes and mouth wide open like of all the shyte she could have come up with.
Acted like I was pissed because a brother wasn't alone when she was gone.

Have a Polish colleague at work with the same exact dates; day, month and year.
We were gistin about birthdays and I mentioned my day and month and he was the same. I thought he was taking the piss and I asked him the year and it was the same, both had to bring out our drivers license to prove it. It felt really cool though I didn't feel any connection with him before and after I found out. People still doubt when we mention it and we have to prove it again and again.
