Pdizzle:
Well, rape is not universally wrong. Take places like the middle east for example, and in situations of male guardianship law in Saudi. The big story about a tourist that was raped in UAE, and she was detained herself is still on the internet, with claims she caused it. You know that can't happen in the west even with a woman that is drunk, and so provocatively dressed you still get to go to jail. Morality varies with societies, hence it is subjective.
That is more like it. Atheism does not support the existence of absolute moral values. After all we are no different from animals and man is of no higher value than animals, according to them. Some believe it's okay to be racist; others believe it's okay to kill babies. Others still believe it's okay to rape. Who is to say what is to be followed? Any standard of our own creation would necessarily be subjective and arbitrary.

randomperson,

The word used here, translated as rape, is the Hebrew word shakab, meaning lying down.Taphas is the Hebrew word for catching, handling, taking hold, and isn't used. If you look at most other translations it merely says "a virgin, who is not
betrothed, and he lays hold of her and lies with her." Where in the verse does it say the intercourse was forced? The verse even ends with "and they were found". It doesn't say he was caught, THEY were caught. This shows that they were engaging in fornication, not rape. This made them have to get married because the woman was not even previously betrothed.

Lol, you are f-ucking hilarious doc grin
I didnt say lions kill antelopes to protect themselves, that was just a similar scenario.. And incase you don't know, lions kill antelopes for food, that's the reason grin
Rapists can produce a similar excuse to justify their acts.

Bitter Leaves are green, just because another person comes up with "bitter leaves are red", does that make bitter leaves red?
Another unintelligent "analogy".

Jonbellion, did you read the bolded?

Please doctor, can you define "opinion"?

It's just like me giving a terrorist a clear headshot with my sniper rifle, blowing his brains out.. And then I tell you all" he is dead", someone then says "it is my opinion", that in his own opinion the terrorist is not dead.. . WTFhuh
This is a terrible analogy. Try as much as possible use analogies that remotely mirror what is being said.

Lame. Lions don't kill antelopes to protect anybody, neither do antelopes terrorize lions. So, no reason for the lion to kill the antelopes.

What a group of individuals think doesn't change the truth
Good. The ones you hold as truth, who declared them truths, since a human being or groups of human beings can't determine what is to be held as truth?

jonbellion:
but even if there was actually a divine command theory fo the rapists still agree rape is wrong
No
rape is wrong because it denies the most basic rights of the individual. It takes the freedom of action and choice away from the vi as simple as that. The rapists might not feel that way but it's the fact but it disrupts privacy just as murder violates an individuals basic right to be alive
I feel this is as absolute one can get
But if we want to go with the christian belief
Pre marital sex is wrong even within two consenting adults
So what exactly males it wrong without using biblical backup
1. That rape denies the basic right of an individual is your opinion. Other people don't agree.

2. An act is not immoral because it encroaches on a person's individual rights. Otherwise, policemen have no right to detain people(limit their freedom of movement).

3. Is the lion that kills an antelope not violating the antelope's rights? Are lions punished?

You have no sense my friend. When the whites in the USA congrees sat down and made laws criminalizing raciail discrimination in all parts of the US against the wish of majority of the whites living in the South did the people not accept it. All laws are made by law makers and not everybody. About half of Americans are against gay rights but just 5 supreme court justices have made gays rights law in the US. Law makers make lawan for everybody. They care not if you agree to it or not. When majority feel the laws are not in their interest they select law makers to change it.
Gays were not allowed to serve openly in the US military and the law makers voted to enforce it. After a while the same law makers voted to repeal it and allow gays to serve in the military. All these were done by a congress that had less that 1% gays in it.
Please, stop quoting me. You're very unintelligent. You never address the content of what you quoted. Who's talking about congress?sad

In Deut 21:10-14, Moses specifically stated what was to be done with female captives: "When you go out to war...and you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and desire her and would take her for your wife, then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and trim her nails. She shall put off the clothes of her captivity, remain in your house, and mourn her father and her mother a full month;after that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife" (emp. added).

It is important to understand that God has never condoned any type of sexual activity outside of a lawful marriage. The only way that an Israelite would be morally justified in having sexual intercourse with a female captive was if he made her his wife, granting to her the rights and privileges due to a wife. Notice that the Israelite male could not “go in to her” until she had observed a period of mourning and cleansing, and he could only "go in to her" with the intent being her husband.
Christianity Etc › Re: Did GOD Ever Condone Rape?(Answering Ignorant Skeptics) by DoctorAlien(op): 2:45pm On Jan 11, 2017
The passage that is most often used to “prove” that God condones rape is Numbers 31:25-40. In this passage, the young women who were taken captive after Moses destroyed the Midianites were divided between the Israelites and the priests. The priests were given responsibility for 32 of the women. Skeptics often suggest that these women were supplied so that the priests could abuse them sexually and rape them. But nothing could be further from the truth. The skeptic errs greatly in this regard either due to his ignorance of God’s instructions or willful dishonesty.

Militant atheists of the 21st century delight in accusing God of condoning the most heinous immoralities. They insist that the God of the Bible, especially of the Old Testament, was a murderous villain guilty of far worse than His human subjects. Richard Dawkins accused God of being a “misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully” (2006, p. 31).

One attempt that has been made to bolster these unfounded accusations is to suggest that in the Old Testament God condoned rape. Dan Barker commented: “If God told you to rape someone, would you do it? Some Christians, ignorant of biblical injunctions to rape , might answer, ‘God would never ask me to do that’” (Barker, 1992, p. 331, emp. added). If the honest truth seeker were to ask to see the “biblical injunctions to rape,” he would be struck by the fact that no such injunctions exist.

So far so good, no "atheist" has been able to tell us why they cling to moral absolutes, when they can't even tell who declared them absolute, and what authority the person/group of persons have to do so. Also, no atheist has been able to tell us why the laws of logic exist, and how the laws came about, and why they use the laws of logic, how humans could possibly know about the laws and why the laws of logic are universal, binding, immaterial and unchanging.

Conclusion: atheism is a very illogical and inconsistent ism??

Nobody's talking about enforcing here. That a law is perfecty enforced does not mean that it is morally right universally.

Moral absolutes were declared by humans. Rape is wrong because it inflicts pains on the victims. Human beings have the ability to sell reflect and empathize with others, that is why over the years we evolve some moral absolutes. Morality must be learned.
Humans cannot declare moral absolutes because rapists don't agree that rape is bad. I can choose to state emphatically now that rape is not bad. Just because one random individual is of the opinion that rape is bad, and then 999 999 more people coincidentally are of the same opinion does not convert what could have been a relative(desisting from rape) into an absolute.

If I say that rape is not bad, and I find 2 500 752 rapists who agree with me that rape is not bad, to us(our group of human beings), rape is not bad. But then, is rape really good?
