hopefulLandlord:Stop lying. I clearly demonstrated to your hypocritical self the first marriage which GOD conducted. A child was not in the picture. Any sane mind needs no one to tell him/her that children are not fit for marriage. One day you will also ask me for a Bible verse that prohibits smoking. Continue deceiving yourself. |
Empredboy:In Exod. 20:8-11 is given the guideline for keeping the Sabbath holy; no secular work was to be done. We don't work for money on the Sabbath. It is a day dedicated to communing with GOD and doing good to our fellow man(like relieving both their physical and spiritual problems), hence Christ's healing on the Sabbath. Christ did not do secular work on the Sabbath day. |
Empredboy:LOL. It's only funny that someone who's very good at summarizing commandments and unifying commandments that talk about the same thing into one, cannot see that 9 and 10 above are talking about the same thing, and should be unified into one.LOL. |
Empredboy:The first commandment prohibits giving your unflinching loyalty/first love/preeminence to anything else, other than GOD. The second prohibits attempting to get to/worship GOD through/with the aid of creatures like trees and graven images, or any likeness of anything. GOD is a Spirit. |
Empredboy:Christ lived all His life in obedience to the 10 Commandments of GOD, constantly drawing the much needed strength to do that as a man from GOD. |
Empredboy:A christian is one who lives his life the way Christ lived his when He was on earth. |
Nope, Peter was never a Pope. Peter surely knew better than to transgress GOD's commandment by assuming the title of a spiritual father over GOD's flock. |
Empredboy, Christ is, in fact, the GOD of the Old Testament. It was He who descended upon Sinai is unspeakable glory, and spoke the 10 Commandments. If this is understood, John 14:15 and Matt. 5:17-19 would be understood better. Follow the link below for an exposition on the identity of the GOD of the Old Testament. www.nairaland.com/3459384/god-old-testament |
Empredboy:This is not the set of 10 Commandments which Christ gave to Adam, and repeated to the hearing of the whole of Israel, and wrote with His own divine finger. Stop reading Roman Catholic-edited "Bible versions". The catholic church edited their own Bible and removed the second commandment, which forbids making and bowing down to graven images. Please consult the KJV. It is the best version of the Bible there is. Thank you. |
Daniel wanted to know and understand the prophecy. His attitude was such that his mind was wide open to all blessed revelations the Lord would give him. This I fear is also a major obstacle for most people today. They are so set in their ways that they refuse to have a “change of mind” when it comes to Biblical truth. I praise the Lord my mind was open to the truth when He revealed to me His Truth regarding the Roman Catholic church. Had I stayed in that church and decided to obey men over Scripture, as all Catholics do to this day, I shudder to think of what I would be doing at this place in time. I also shudder to think of how that prophesied house of lies would have destroyed my wife and children as well. |
Pidgin2:GOD's church is identified in Rev. 12:17; 14:12. This church has been in existence since Adam. |
Ubenedictus:"Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of GOD." 1 Cor. 7:19 The people of GOD keep His Holy Sabbath, which is one of His commandments. See Rev. 12:17; 14:12 Moreover, Jesus instructs us never to break the law, or to teach men to do so. Matt. 5:17-19. Moreover, you always misquote Paul just to lend credence to your choice of disobeying GOD's commandments. So, can you explain Gal. 3:19, knowing fully well that where there is no law, there is no transgression(Rom. 4:15)? In essence, it is obvious that a law was added because of transgressions, and that that law was to be until Christ. What law was that which was added because of transgressions? The transgression of what? When was the law added? |
Empredboy:The Sabbath is a day in which we avoid secular work. We worship GOD exclusively on that day, and do good to our fellow man. No wonder Jesus healed on the Sabbath day. Note: Jesus kept the Sabbath too. Luk. 4:16 The Sabbath is the 4th commandment, anyway. |
Ubenedictus:What belief informed the killings which the Roman Catholic church did during the inquisitions of the dark ages? Were those beliefs taught by Jesus Christ? |
Empredboy:See Gal. 5:22-26 Christ simplified the 10 commandment into just 2 .which are love of God and love of Neigbour. The only way you can love GOD is to keep His commandments(Exod. 20:6; Jn. 14:15) just like the Pharisees followed old laws like washing of hands before eating , even to circumcision yet used all these laws to tempt JesusCircumcision and ceremonies are never classed with the 10 Commandments. so also you are using all these long laws to chase an intending christain away.Christianity is not all rosy. It is a life of obedience to GOD. Luk. 14:28 will I call someone who obeys all the 10 commandments but doesn't have a forgiven spirit a Christian? what about someone who has never been to church but he can share all that he has freely with the needy? who is truly a Christian between the two?A christian is one who behaves like Christ. |
Fayos1:GOD is, and He is the Source of all absolute moral laws. Without GOD in the picture, a reason cannot be found for which things like giving to charity, preserving the sanctity of human life and being modest are considered universally moral. But anything that does not have any reason to be is not. Absolute moral laws exist. Therefore GOD exists. Bear in mind that absolute moral laws are not absolute because they are enforced by man, neither are they no longer absolute because they are not enforced/obeyed by man: absolute moral laws are intrinsically good. |
Empredboy:A Christian is the person who abides in Christ, keeps the 10 Commandments of GOD, including His holy Sabbath(knowing fully well that GOD requires obedience to His holy Law from all who would identify with Him), and lives his life as Jesus lived when He was on earth, striving daily to fully obey all the commandments of Christ as revealed in the Bible and the Bible alone. (1 Jn. 2:6; Jn. 14:15; Exod. 20:6; Rev. 12:17; 14:12; 2 Tim. 3:16 KJV). |
Seun:It is more stupid to entertain the idea of infinite regress in time. |
So.. in reality, what do we truly need to do? What did Daniel do? I like to look to him because without a doubt he is my favorite prophet of the Word. I cannot wait to meet him in New Jeruslaem. By the way, that will be AFTER I meet my Lord Jesus Christ of course. ![]() Daniel 10:12, "Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words." So.. how did Daniel get in tune? First off, he had a desire deep within to understand. He wanted to know what the prophecies meant. In this case it was a dream he was given. Did you notice the Word said he "chastened" himself? In the Strongs Concordance, that word means "to humble thyself." (See strongs #06031) This is one very important aspect in Christianity. Without humbling oneself, we can never expect to have the meekness of Christ. And that is what every Christian must strive for! |
Atheists never tire to tell us how we are no different from animals like goats and sheep and cows. In fact, they accuse you of being proud if you dare to think yourself higher in any way than these animals. They argue that the rest of the animal world are not religious, and therefore religion is an anomaly in man. It follows then that man is just one of those animals. Nothing special about him. If this is true, then the atheist who believes that human life is sacred and should not be taken indiscriminately is simply a walking bundle of inconsistency. If there is no special value placed on man(by GOD), and that we are simply another species of animals, as atheists argue, then the life of a man is as sacred as that of a goat. Why, then, should there be an uproar when human life is taken indiscriminately? Is it not the same thing as when a goat is killed? Do people protest when the life of an innocent goat is taken? How is the life of a man more important than that of a goat? |
John 16:13, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." 1 Corinthians 2:14, "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." Since it is the Holy Spirit that inspires Prophecy, common sense dictates that we must then be in tune with that very same Holy Spirit. Amen? |
Now ask them when Peter was Bishop of Rome, they start stuttering or they'll produce some dubious "writings of the early fathers." That is in spite of the fact that the Acts of the Apostles covers the life of Peter up until a few years before his death, and mentions nothing of him going to Rome. Now, even if we assume that Peter was Bishop at Rome, Peter was simply an elder and not the head of the church(1 Pet. 5:1), and so why should succeeding Bishops of Rome claim to be the head of the church? |
When it is understood that the Roman Catholic church is the church headed by the Bishop of Rome(the Pope), it will not be hard to see why the catholic church continues to propagate the lie that Peter was the first Pope(Bishop of Rome). As a matter of fact, the church at Rome was simply one of the churches at the time of the apostles. No church had primacy over another then. The church as a whole, then, was simply guided by the apostles, with Jesus Christ as the Head. That was until the church began to fall from its position of purity, and the church at Rome committed whoredoms with pagan Roman empire. Eventually, a pagan Roman emperor declared the church of Rome the head of all the churches, and thus the Bishop of Rome, the only head of the church(imagine that). Due to the fact that they cannot answer the question "Who put the church of Rome in a position of primacy over the other churches?", the cooked up the myth that their Bishops succeeded Peter as the Bishop of Rome. LOL. |

dingbang:But GOD cannot give us warnings and instructions which we cannot understand. |
Well, dingbang, people understand the message in Revelations, and you too can understand them. Follow the link below to find out how to study Bible prophecy. www.nairaland.com/3582287/how-study-bible-prophecy#52955059 |

Almost daily I run across people who have peered into the Bible prophecies, and then after a few moments they close the book thinking that these prophecies just cannot be understood by the common man. They literally give up that easy! Habakkuk 2:2, "And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it." Revelation 22:10, "And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand." Regardless of what some may think, Scripture positively confirms that prophecy can in fact be understood. All we really need to do is put into practice the Bible counsels that will eventually put us in a place that makes us to better understand His Prophecy. And in so doing, we will eventually become better effective at evangelizing others. |
chalz493:LOL. Of course, the mystery of iniquity was already at work during Paul's day. When the apostles and the true disciples of Christ were all taken out of the way, the Man of Sin, called the Bishop of Rome, rose to power through unholy alliance with pagan rome.(2 Thess. 2:7). The good news is that GOD still has some people who keep His 10 Commandments, including His Holy Sabbath(Exod. 20:8-11; Isa. 58:13). They will never be deceived by Satan, neither will they receive the mark of the beast which the beast(papacy) will seek to enforce on all men. |
Bump! |
Nice thread. |
analice107:By GOD's grace many of them who sincerely think that the Roman Catholic organization is of GOD will get to know the truth. |
