It is no longer news that the New York Times has seen sensitive documents indicating that the US Department of Defense has drawn out and mapped out strategies and plans for any potential attacks on Nigeria. These plans have been forwarded to the white house for Donald Trump's consideration. This is fairly normal. The US has strategic attack plans for every nation on earth. It even has plans for attack on the moon and even one for zombie epidemics. I'm kidding you not. So a plan for a potential Nigerian attack is not out of place.


The United States African Command has a number of predator drones and MQ-91 reaper drones it can deploy to bases of friendly countries close to Nigeria. But that's not enough reason to indicate strikes are imminent . Drones may just be deployed for surveillance purposes.

Here is the one sure indication that an attack on Nigeria is imminent. When any of the American Carrier Strike groups deployed in the Pacific and the Mediterranean ocean changes direction and starts heading for Africa. That my friends, will be confirmation that sh(i)t is really about to hit the fan. US CSGs don't move from their ports of deployment for nothing. Any strikes against terror groups as entrenched as we have in Nigeria, will not be something that only drones can handle. Consistent sorties by F-16s and f-15s will be needed. If a KC-135 Stratotanker for air refueling of these fighter jets parks at any airport in Egypt or Morocco, then that will be all the confirmation Nigeria needs.

Senator Ted Cruz in the US is one of them and he is the one who is driving this issue. I will also look out for Senator Lindsey Graham. Graham is an avowed war hawk and nothing gives him an erection more than seeing the US military go to war. So far Graham has not said anything about Trump's intentions to send troops to Nigeria. Graham will likely do press rounds this Sunday and he will let his views known then.

Momentum is beginning to build up in the US senate for Trump to extend the AUMF to Nigeria.
