You might Spend the night at a hotel or something so as to leave 1st thing in the morning. Please leave tomorrow morning so you can get there at most monday night...make Further enquiries too. Yeah, the roads are quite bad until abj and it's really far. Naturally, it should take 24hours but mehn...macopolo buses ain't helping matters either. what most people do is break their journey to jos or bauchi and continue the next day.

I am really surprised at the ignorance of our youths. I lived all my life in the north and I have never seen people killed though it doesn't mean it doesn't happen but it's far exaggerated. Only 3 or 4 Northern states has high degree of insecurity ( security has even improved in those states).
The north is mostly safe. No beef but for peace sake, I'd rather stay in the north than east or south.
The cost of living is reasonable compared to other regions too.
I am a yoruba by the way.

Tell me about it...I'm igbo with very strong tribal values btw. but the thing irks to high heavens. Every corner has got pros and cons but making it look like the north has nothing to offer is really irksome.

So, I went through as many posts as I could and I want to make a correction. The situation in the north is grossly exaggerated, I have spent all my life there and asides those posted to Borno state who can even redeploy, there's absolutely no need to complain. People have different norms and northerners would find it equally difficult to adjust to the south.
Do not decide to wait for next batch because you were posted to the north. That is such a trivial reason to stay at home for another 6 months. If you hate the north so much, redeploy after camp but don't stay home.

P.S: you might still get a northern state next batch

Since all other documents bear the Omotoke Chimamanda GOLD,It will be better if you leave it that way,even if NYSC include Hadiza in your certificate,some coys if not all will me never recognize the certificate due to the variations in names.

Yeah, I wish it was that easy though. But in reality all my names are english even surname except my tribal name which was excluded and it's...uhm ...sha, what if I get an affidavit?

You will be given a form in camp called Certificate format.. On this form you write the names you want to appear on your certificate as you want it to appear..

But please note, hope your names won't conflict with the arrangement on your other documents?

Uhm...conflict how? Lemme give example. My full name is Omotoke Chimamanda Hadiza GOLD, they took off Hadiza and everything else has been Omotoke Chimamanda GOLD. I want the former on my certificate but the latter is on every other thing. Please explain better so I don't go use my own money by trouble

Well, I served in Akwa Ibom state.. I must say my expereince there was worthwhile but it could have been bbetter if my expectations were not cut short. I was disappointed with all i heard, but then i survived.. SO, please, try and get much information about a state and make an INFORMED decision.. But then i think this advice is late already so I wish you all the best wherever you are posted to.

I have this situation where I want an extra name on my nysc dispatch certificate. I have four names, well 3 names and my surname but in school they ignorantly took off my tribal name during 1st year clearance which happens to be the most important to me, same thing happened at the bank. So, all names tally alright but I wanna add my tribal name during camp registration (so they use it for my certificate) would it pose any problems for me?
