But this is not represent It is you o’level results that would be used to get your cutoff C6 – 2pt, c5 – 4pt, c4- 6pt b3- 8pt B2- 10pt A1-12pt For the 5 o’level subjects required for your course. Each grade would be represent a point (refer to the quoted text) above How to calculate your UI aggregate score 1. Sum up all the points corresponding to the grades you have in your o’level 2. Divide your utme score by 8 3. Sum up 1 and 2. 4. Divide by 110 5. Multiply by 100 Example Utme score- 230 O level results-. A1,B2,B3,C4 and C6 1. 230÷8= 29 2. A1= 12 points B2= 10 points B3= 8 points C4= 6 points C6= 2 points Total= 38 points 3. 29+38=67 4. 67/110= 0.61 5. 0.61* 100= 61% I can assure anyone who cares to listen that these cut-off marks are false. I have seen this same broadcast before UI announced its Pre-Admission Screening. Moreover, the post reads that the cut-off marks were released shortly after screening registration began. Does that make any sense? How can you set cut-off marks when you haven't gotten the overall assessment of Candidates to different departments. It was after the close of registration the school could have known the aggregate performance of students, with which the cut-off marks will be decided. Guys, let us be a little more patient. Where we are heading to is no where near our starting point. I strongly believe that many things will be decided in the month of October; we'll get our screening scores, the cut-off marks will be released and the merit list will be out. Danke! |

Annibiteye: Yes its 50:50, just that the figures are rounded to 2 decimal places. 50% of 30 (I.e WAEC aggregate points) is 1.67 That's true. I understand that now. Thanks. |
Education › Re: 2016/2017 University of Ibadan Admission Thread Guide. by DokitaDave(m): 11:35am On Sep 30, 2016*. Modified: 1:03pm On Sep 30, 2016 |
Annibiteye: Aspirants you can now calculate your score, very likely they'll use this method: WAEC grades in the subject combination where A is 6, B2 5, B3 4, C4 3, C5 2 and C6 1. Multiply by 1.67. Divide UME score by 8, add up the total, that's makes your score. Compare it with your departmental cut off when they release it. Keep expecting your score though via emails and text messages. All the best! Hey! I have seen this method somewhere on the internet before, but the only problem I've got with it is the 1.67 thing. Why will the school use that figure instead of 2 (for it to reflect the said 60:40 model)? And also, that is more like a 50:50 model. I think we might understand the model when our scores are sent to us. I am also thinking that should commence today. |

fflamingo: which other uni adopt "all state of the federation as its catchment areas" ?
as I'm not sure UI will be adopting same due to the admission quota james stated [45%merit, 30%catchment, 10% elds]. That quota distribution predates the present administration, so it is not new. Moreover, many schools that have catchment areas have been using it. From what I could gather, the following Universities have all the states of the Federation as their catchment areas: University of Ibadan, University of Abuja, University of Port-Harcourt, University of Agriculture Abeokuta, University of Agriculture Makurdi, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun. |

DateMynd44: Almost all the federal universities have adopted the o level and utme grading mode except UNIBEN and if U.I wants to follow suit pls emulate from UNN's modality, their O level and UTME grading process is simply AMAZING Hi friend, Could you please explain the admission screening models adoped by UNN and UNIBEN? Moreover, I saw the merit list of UNN and I sort of like it. Most of their slots were already filled up in that list. I sense most people that would be admitted are already on that merit list. For instance, I think I saw about 96 & 28 names for Medicine and Dentistry respectively. I also think the maximum capacities for Medicine is 100 and Dentistry is 30 (I am not sure though). NB: UI has all states of the federation as its catchment areas. So, there will not be preference based on states. |

kingjms010: That update has been there for a while now, I think since last year nd it is meant for the 2015/2016 session. Moreover, this year admission exercise is named Pre-Admission Screening exercise nd not post-utme exercise, I think there is a difference Thanks dude. Pre-Admission Screening itself is ambiguous, now that P-UTME has been scrapped. Considering the processes employed by other institutions (UNILAG & OAU at least) to screen their candidates, I feel we may not need to go to UI before we are admitted. Anyway, I think time will tell. Last year, UI started clearance for those admitted second week of October. I hope thesame feat replays this time. |

In case, you do not get admission in UI, you would be able to fall back to those schools. Those schools include: Federal Colleges of Education in Abeokuta, Okenne and Oyo. ECWA Theological Seminary, Igbaja.... and so on. |
