Hi, has anyone here been able to apply? |
DrBESTJC:It depends on the department; I am sure students of the Department of Medicine and Surgery & Department of Dentistry and Dental Surgery don't take Mathematics. Medical Laboratory Science students take Mathematics. |
University Of Ibadan Dumps 7.0 Grading System For 4.0 If you say Nigeria’s premier university – the University of Ibadan would always want to stand different from its counterparts in the country; well, you may be right after all. The university has just affirmed and announced its decision to change its grading system from the former unique 7.0 to another university-unique 4.0, something similar to what is currently obtainable in Nigerian Polytechnics. In a statement signed by Prof. M. A. Kehinde and put on the university website, “Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments are enjoined to ensure compliance and commencement of the new regulations with the intakes of 2016/2017 Session, while the old regulations remain applicable to students admitted before the 2016/2017 Session.” With this development, the Nigeria leading varsity will no longer award a degree to students usually within the ‘pass’ range, making its least degree a Third Class Honour. “...the recommended Average Minimum Units expected of the students to take/register for is now 40 units (for the new intakes: 100 Level) as against the old 30 units. Given this development, the regulations guiding withdrawal of students in the University in respect of the new system are as follows: i. 100 Level: At the end of first year, a student who has passed less than 24 units should be asked to withdraw from the University. ii. 200 Level: At the end of second year, a student who has passed less than 48 units (cumulative) should be asked to withdraw from the University. iii. 300 Level: At the end of third year, a student who has passed less than 72 units (cumulative) should be asked to withdraw from the University. iv. The CGPA at each level should not be less than 1.0 Under the new Four (4)-Point Grading Scale, grades to be used for students who have satisfactorily completed the course of study are as follows: Letter Grade: Marks Grade Point A (70 and above above) 4 B (60-69%) 3 C (50-59%) 2 D (45-49%) 1 E (40-44%) 0 CGPA Ranges under the new Four (4)- Point Grading Scale for Classification of Degrees: 3.5- 4.00 - First Class Honours 3.0-3.49 - Second Class Honours (Upper Division) 2.0-2.99 - Second Class Honours (Lower Division) 1.0-1.99 - Third Class Honours” In the mean time, the questions and debates have centered on whether or not the new grading system is tougher than the former 7.0 and even the 5.0 being used by all other universities in the country. http://www.oaupeeps.com/2017/02/university-of-ibadan-dumps-70-grading.html |

bebene:It depends on the bank you are making the transaction from. For instance, GTB charges N320/USD. |
I'll recommend Naira4Dollar anyday anytime. TrueXgold lacks professionalism and good customer care; I couldn't believe my eyes while I read the responses given to its customers affected by the neteller issue. The guy is just too proud - responded as if he is the number one e-currency exchanger in Africa. Most annoying, Seun must have read several of these complaints yet keeps TrueXgold's ad running on Nairaland for more people to be scammed by this guy. Next time, when you hear TrueXgold, please run for your dear life. |
Hello... Orientation programme for fresh students
|
Dongreat:I think you are now taking another turn sir. Your initial comparison was between a UN DSG and a Nigerian federal minister/local government chairman. I agree with you that the so called elite who earn in Dollars are less affected by the deterroriating condition of the Naira because they have more to spend now in the local currency. |
Dongreat:Good points there but I don't see reasons why you should have disagreed with the fact that a UN top job is more PROFITABLE than that of a Nigerian minister. It is very clear especially at this recessing period when dollar is comfortably repressing the Naira. I don't know if you understand what I am saying. At entry level of a UN skilled job, you get paid no less than untaxable $3,000/month not to talk of the number 2 position of the organization. |
sjjjj:The fee schedule for the 2016/2017 academic session has not been released. For accomodation, the only thing freshmen have been able to see is the hostel they have been allocated and you can check yours by logging in to the student portal as a new student with your UTME number. Goodluck! |
jboycoded:I have seen it on the website. Thank you. |
Hi everyone. Trust you're all fine. Happy resumption in waiting... I saw this online but I am not sure if it is authentic.
|
Seun, I hope you are following this because I can see you still serve TrueXgold's advert on your forum and more people are lured to have their money stuck with this non-professionally and very rude merchant. |
xlow:Kids everywhere on Nairaland these days. |
Thank God I stormed on this thread. I was almost settling for TrueXgold and recommending it to my business friends. But with this, bye bye. The person that attended to this customer on this thread (don't know if it's the owner) is soooo rude and lacks professionalism. |
WELCOME NOTE TO ALL NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS, 2016/2017 SESSION I, on behalf of the Council, Senate and Members of the University Management, welcome you to the rather late commencement of the 2016/2017 academic session. The successful completion of the 2015/2016 session was largely due to your cooperation and determination to complete that session in 2016 in spite of the crisis-induced vacation and other industrial action that occurred early in the year 2016. The 2016/2017 university calendar approved by the Senate of the University is to ensure that students arrive 18 February 2017 and that lectures commence immediately on Monday 20 February, 2017. The University Management and I count that you will once again adopt the sense of responsibility to resume for lectures on the 20th of February 2017 having being on vacation since December 2016, and that you will adopt positive attitudes that will ensure that the semesters run hitch free till the Senate meets to consider final year results on the 23rd October 2017. Operating a deliberately hitch free and smooth running calendar, which is uppermost among my priorities will ensure that the graduating students participate in the November 2017 Convocation Ceremonies and proceed for the National Youth Service Corps or Housemanship or Internship or to the Law School, as appropriate. In spite of the fact that the provision of Municipal services is a source of nation-wide crisis, the University of Ibadan is putting measures and structures in place to alleviate the challenges faced by the students in 2016 in a bid to ensure that you have sufficient resources and ample time to concentrate on your studies. I admonish you all to use the facilities at your disposal : bedding, water, taps, electricity, reading rooms, class rooms, inverters with a high sense of responsibility because these facilities are owned by you and you should handle them as properties placed in your care or under your oversight in a community in which you are a stake holder. Lodging complaints to the appropriate authorities when facilities malfunction is the quickest way to get them repaired, replaced or restored. We continue to operate an open and listening policy to ensure that the quality of your well-being and concentration on your studies are enhanced. A number of excellent performances and wins in competitions were recorded among you last session. These kept the University of Ibadan flag flying globally and I and the university management will continually encourage and support you in every way to attain much more excellence in the international community and in world scholarship . I specifically welcome the freshmen to Nigeria's premier university, the first and best, and wish you all an intellectually robust and fulfilling 2016/2017 session. God bless. Idowu Olayinka Vice-Chancellor University of Ibadan 7 February, 2017 |
cmoney22222:Hello everyone. Trust your day has been good. I promised to get back to you relating to the UBA debit card. Following the assurances I was given by UBA that I will be able to use its debit card for international transaction, I eventually opened an account with UBA and i got a MasterCard. I tried to make payment with the card on different websites (Skrill and Cryptonit) but transactions failed. I went to one of their branches to lodge complaint and I was told I needed to "activate the card for web payment" before I could make international online transactions . To do that, I was told to write a letter stating some of my details. After I wrote the letter and submitted it, the customer care staff that attended to me said I should give the bank 48 - 72 working day hours for the activation to happen. That day, I returned home happily with the hope that my card will be able to do the needful soon. After 3 working days, I still could not transact with the card. I called the bank's customer care line (CFC) and complained. The guy that attended to me told me he could see that the activation process was on. He said I should wait for another 48 hours which I did. Lo and behold, 48 hours passed, no positive feedback. I called in again, I was told to be patient that the bank is working on my request. Apparently, it looked to me the customer care line was not going to be responsive to my issue. Still in search of resolution, I engaged @UBAgroup and @UBAcares on Twitter and I gave the bank some of my details upon request. I was told my card was activated and I should make payment with it later that day. Unfortunately, it didn't work still. I reported back and I was told to try doing my transaction very early; sometimes around 12:00am in order to beat the rush for the limited available forex. I stayed up for 2 different days hoping to beat the said rush, but still couldn't pay with my card. To cut my epistle 'short', UBA disappointed me big time and even ruined a transaction I already hinged the card payment on. Even the Internet Banking details I was sent are not valid for login and the bank keeps telling me nonsense. I never thought UBA to be this weak and poor until I had reasons to do business with it. I promise to dump the bank sooner or later. So, for now, your GTB MasterCard and Access Bank VISA card will do international online payments. |
yetundefadeyi:You mean somebody told you he/she has done all that as a fresh student in UI? That is not true. Always visit the school website (www.ui.edu.ng) for latest information about admission and the rest please. |
Nice contribution from VP Osinbajo. But I think charity begins at home; he needs to talk to his boss to respect the rule of law by charging political 'prisoners' held in detention all this while and obey court orders regarding ongoing cases. With that done, it will be easier for every organ of government to be sane and law abiding. |

I think Nigeria does not have any powerful female politician at the moment. Notwithstanding, the country has some technocrats (permit me to use that term) who were/are also into politics. 1. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala 2. Amina Mohammed 3. Aisha Buhari |
hardeiluxie:Yes please. Whenever I input my matriculation number and password, I get a response that "Your username or password is invalid". |
sweetpea05:It is a general issue with freshmen, I think. I am also experiencing thesame thing. Since you can login with your UTME number to view your hostel and matriculation number, you needn't to worry about anything. |
Chinagurum1995:RIP English ![]() |
sweetpea05:What exactly are the issues you are having with the portal? BTW, welcome to Nairaland ![]() |
Mologi:Lol. Alright. Thank you! |
Mologi:Oh... Thank you for your response. So what are we supposed to do next? Plus, do you have an idea of the probable date of resumption for fresh students? |
larabae13:Hi, good afternoon. I can now login to the portal. I have also been issued a matriculation number and I can see the name of the hall I have been allotted. But I still cannot login via the link which reads "Apply for hostel accommodation by clicking HERE" using my matriculation number. Is it the same with yours please? I think that is where i'll apply/select/be allocated to a specific room. |
freeze001:I tire ooo... |
cmoney22222:Okay. I will. |
