Gerrard59:You are right. |
While it is okay to train young brilliant sharps abroad, it is also worthy to note that the problem is not really shortage of manpower in the health sector. Ask yourself, what are the incentives on ground to attract doctors and other health workers to Kaduna state? How efficient are the health institutions in the state? I know many graduate doctor willing to go to the North if their pay and welfare are not rigmarolled. By the way, what is the probability that those ones sponsored abroad with public funds will return back to work in the state? |
Bbsharon:Well, to be honest, I don't think this government is sincere about whatever change it promised, especially before the leadership assumed power. You are very right, it was scam all along. ...as it stands, Nigeria comfortably sits on a keg of gun powder and this is suicide for the country. But is there truly no way out of this mess at all? Please, I don't think we should say 2019 is around one corner because 2015 was around that same corner some years back. ![]() |
This story is false. Nathaniel Bassey only shared the testimony of someone who participated in the programme. Cc: Seun lalastica |
I am sorry about your awful experience and more importantly, thank God you weren't hurt yourself. A student of Obafemi Awolowo University right? The occurrence of thieves raiding students who reside off campus is a tradition in Ife environs and sadly, the Police hasn't been able to work out any solution. This reminds me of the report of how Evans was initially arrested as an armed robber, only to be released few days after by the Police. He later transformed to a bigger terror. I have not been robbed at gun point before but I have had my properties stolen in school (including a brand new phone I bought that was stolen overnight, just less than 12 hours after purchase). I appreciate the fact that you still stand for the right thing - mob action and jungle justice is not right and cannot be justified no matter what. The problem here is with our systems. Both the law enforcement bodies and our judicial system are faulty. All of these things are issues I sincerely had my hopes high that the promised change of this present government would address upon assumption but here we are today, nothing has changed for better. We are sincerely in a pathetic state but I won't say the country has no hope anymore. |
edygistvilla:I am sorry sir. ![]() |
edygistvilla:Simply put up your questions here. There are some students who are here and would answer you. Okay? |
SaulRazor:God bless your thinking sir. |
From the comments I have read earlier, it shows a large chunk of Nigerians are not intelligent. Instead of them to think critically on this issue, they keep bashing the suspect due to their uncontrolled emotion. I won't be amazed if Evans is eventually granted bail because our security outfits have long always failed to do the right thing, especially when it comes to the prosecution of suspects. No surprises tho, it flows from the seeming non-regard for the rule of law encouraged by the number one man. |
So unfortunate! Nigeria has never had it so divisive like what we are experiencing now in recent times. So sad. |
DeGuyNxtDoor:If this really happened on 16/06/2017, I'll advise she goes immediately to see a doctor (preferably in a government hospital) for proper medical counselling because that rapist may be infected with HIV/AIDS. If that's the case, the victim could still be subjected to PEP and she has a big chance of not getting infected. I also think she should let her father know what happened even though she seems to have a father who is lion to his daughter. Does she not have any relationship with her mum too? Offenders like this are not supposed to go scot-free. A 22-year-old rapist is bound to do worse as he grows, as such, he's a threat to the society and should be kept away from the public. |
boiz2men:When you see tribalists, no matter their level of education, they'll still show forth what they've got. So sad |
GoGreenNaija:Well, I cannot say because I don't know what is obtainable in UNILAG as per students' reaction to things like this. I only mentioned OAU and UI because I am very familiar with those two varsities. |
teefha:That's very okay. Go after what you are most pleased and interested in. BMLS is a very awesome and highly prospective course too. I wish you God's best in your pursuit and I hope to have you in UI next year. Regards |
Ajet001:From your responses to those that have replied this, it looks to me your friend is too scared to go ahead with his initial choice. Like someone already advised, he may consider other schools or choose any of the less competitive courses in the College of Medicine or Faculty of Science. |
teefha:Do you like BDS at all? |

Imagine this? He is learning from some useless governors we have today. Without any attempt to glorify any school, I am so confident that this crap cannot happen in two Nigerian schools at least; Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan. The scandal (as far as I am concerned) will consume that president immediately the news go public. |
Very funny and hilarious. For many times I have seen this kind of thing, they are always not real but fabricated since NYSC won't listen to people who really want to relocate. I even met a guy back then in camp who brought charms/orthodox medicine to back up a similar story but when we interacted closely, he confessed to me he made it all up to boost the chance of his relocation bid. Unfortunately, my guy wasn't relocated eventually despite all the evidences he presented before the relocation panel. ![]() |
I cannot but weep for tertiary institutions in Oyo state. The current state leadership is the worst I have seen among equals lately; very insensitive, irresponsible and despondent when it comes to education matters and even beyond. History will always remember these democratic opportunists at the helms of affairs. |
Let's ask Corps members ![]() |
Rursh:Yes, some course codes were changed this year and some courses were broken down too into two. |
CondomSir:There are some variations depending on department. For instance, those in BMLS do all the courses I listed above (for BDS and MBBS) plus Mathematics and I think Computer Science/Statistics (not sure though). Those in Computer Science don't take Chemistry and Zoology. Those in Chemistry will only do one Zoology course and one Physics course but plus Computer Science and Statistics. So there are variations and I am not sure of what is exactly obtainable in the departments you mentioned. |
Ajet001:Well, I have not been to all undergraduate halls of residence, especially the famale halls but the few male halls I have been to are fairly above average to rate. There are about 3-4 students per room. The rooms are small though. I have been to quite a number of undergraduate halls of residence of federal universities and I'll tell you UI's are relatively better than some of them. Note: You are charged N14,000 per session for a space in the UG halls. cc: Rayman1000 |
The issue didn't just start. For newbies in the matter, you can read up here: 21/03/2015 Re: A Call To Order By Muslim Students' Society Nigeria http://www.oaupeeps.com/2015/03/re-call-to-order-by-muslim-students.html 03/09/2016 Here Are The Reasons Given By The DSA OAU To Justify Hall Mosques' Closure http://www.oaupeeps.com/2016/09/here-are-reasons-given-by-dsa-oau-to.html |
Beautiful morning to you all. I got your requests @holuwajobar and Ajet001 On a norm, I would have told you to exercise patience since you guys (the UI 2017/2018 freshmen) may not resume anytime earlier than late February or March, but I understand you can as well keep busy/whirl away time with getting prepared for the first year works. For those that would come in for BDS & MBBS, there seems to be no too much work for the first semester of the first year. You'll take the following courses: CHE156 - Physical Chemistry 1 PHY102 - Introductory Mechanics and Properties of Matter PHY103 - Introductory Heat and Thermodynamics ZOO114 - Principles of Cell Biology and Genetics ZOO116 - Introductory Invertebrate Zoology GES107 - Reproductive Health: Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Human immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Plus Chemistry, Physics and Zoology practicals. For now, let me tell you the course content for CHE156, then maybe in some months time when you can assure me you are done dealing with EVERYTHING there, we may move on to others. Topics in CHE156 include: - Oxidation and Reduction/Electrochemistry - Reaction Kinectics - Atoms, Molecules and Intermolecular Forces - Kinectics Theory - Thermochemistry, Spontaneous Processes and Equilibria - Acid, Base and Salts. I hope this helps. |
Darey2020:Hello sir, I need the prospectus too. Kindly send to davospeaks@gmail.com Thank you. |
Outofsync:I think I understand the perspective you are coming from but I am afraid you're are so wrong. I am not a fan of feminism and I will never be (because I believe its fundamental principles and probable aims are flawed), however, I think the reason you think this way is due to the way some professions have been gender-tainted. I have seen MANY female students who perform excellently well and much better than their male counterparts in STEM courses. Beauty and brains don't mix? Lol... That's another unfounded claim. |
So, UI has finally been shut down for 7 weeks over students' protest. ![]() |
Couver:Oga mi sir... Thank you so much. |
holuwajobar: We can always look up to God through Christ and we are sure we won't go wrong brother. Nonetheless, trust me, you can be sure of a nice and warm reception in our family-like department. Personally, I am eager to receive you, Bobola and other dental aspirants here in UI come January next year. |
CondomSir:You are right. I am a year one dental student. I appreciate your exam wish. God bless you brother. |
