See, am all for fighting for causes that you believe in (For real, presently, Naija needs a revolution to purge her of all the vermin that are in power). Ojukwu went blind into a war. He made no provision whatsoever for the war. Imagine, you going against a whole federation without top of the line arms. He had no guns, no ammo, no food, nothing. When the war was being fought, where was he? (sleeping in luxury). Where was he when men were dying? Where was he when mothers and daughters were being violated? Where was he when igbo started to kill each other? and at the end of the day, he went into exile. Shouldn't he have stayed and died a "hero's" death instead of running away with his tail between his legs. And at the end of the war, where was he when igbos (or "biafrans" where being shunned by the rest of the country? That is an act of treason under most county's constitution. The Nigerian civil war was fought without Nigeria borrowing a single penny, so definitely she was ready to fight but ojukwu was not. Shouldn't he have made more research, commissioned espionage to ascertain the coffers of the "enemy"? These are the questions that should be asked instead of blindly giving honor where it's not due. Also he gave no accountability nor any apology to igbos for the genocide that he caused. And you want Nigeria to lower her flags; the same flag that he fought against. |
Most people might not agree with me, but the guy did the right thing (even if his account was used for money laundering). These are the types of "new" honest politicians that we need in the country. Citizens that will use the opportunity for good and not for evil. Assuming he went ahead to withdraw all the money (if his account was being used for money laundering), the owners of the money will smoke him out and kill him (if he didn't go into hiding). |
My brother and i were home and hungry (i was 13), there was no meat (mum went for shopping) but there was smoked fish (eja kika). So i decided to cook smoked fish stew. i boiled some fresh pepper and added shredded smoked fish (instead of whole or halves). The stew "resembled" fried stew that is normally used to eat bread or yam. My mum had to cook proper stew and my stew (surprisingly, it was delicious) was eaten with bread or yam. ![]() Another cooking experience from childhood: My brother and i were home and hungry (always hungry), so i decided to cook. I sliced onion, big bell pepper, ata rodo, and tomatoes. Poured some vegetable oil in the the frying pan and added all the sliced ingredients with spices. I covered the frying pan and turned down the heat (to the lowest), went to the sitting room and forgot about the stew. By the time i remembered, the sliced ingredients had turned into fried stew (i accidentally discovered a great recipe) and it tasted so good that my brother kept asking for a remake every weekend. |
Ramsey Noah is not Ibo. His father is from Isarel, his mother is Yoruba, but he grew up in the east. |
the funny thing is naija already bought the body scanners way back in dec 09. Installing body scanners is not going to deter a determined terrorist. I am not against body scanners but my beef is that the images are stored in the scanners, so there is every possibility that it might get leaked and shows up on the internet My bad electromagnetic waves, but it increases the chances of cancer. |
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/cmcginnis/detail?entry_id=69524 http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/01/11/body.scanners/index.html Also the body scanners releases radio active waves that inceases the risk of cancer (so frequent fliers are in trouble). Just search for "airport body scanners" in google and see n.a.k.e.d pictures of fliers. So sad. |
The recent update on body scanners in the U.S, is that the scanners STORE all the images (pictures) of people that pass through. When the scanners were installed at the U.S airports, human rights activists were against it because it was violation of privacy, but the authorities "said" that the scanners would not store the images (i will scout the internet to post the article). So in Naija where there are no such things, don't be surprised if your n.a.k.e.d pictures shows up on the internet. |
^^^^, yeah she's such a spoilt brat (make it or break it is my guilty pleasure), i always want to give her a chance, then she does something total evil. |
ijaw_girl:you are also replying to old threads. I only watched the movie because of tuface's song (African Queen). the worst 90mins of my life. |
^^^, yeah, it's becoming (scary) a pattern. |
I can't stand PLL (the name sef is discouraging: Pretty Little Liars). The show is promoting moral decadence in the society and it is geared towards teenagers (sheesh, even if such things goes on in high school, should such disgusting acts be promoted and encouraged. I watched a few episode and had to stop because it was sooo disgusting. I am not suprised that ABC airs the series; since their new slogan is ABC family: a new kind of family. Also the secret live of the american teenager is another show that shouldn't be aired on t.v Anyway back to the topic; The series that i watch (i can't stand dem reality tv shows, unless it's a competition or game). Currently showing America's got talent white collar covert affairs make it or break it (can't stand lauren) season ended (waiting for new season) lie to me merlin legend of the seeker (didn't really like season 2, but looking forward to season 3) the big bang theory chuck the good wife tudors how i met your mother the tudors V (reimagined series) Anticipated new series chase the event melissa & joey nikita outlaw persons unknown undercovers |
The title should be changed to best Nigerian movies (because the bad ones dey plenty). For me oo, the best Nigerian movies that i have watched are: agogo ewo saworoide arugba (any kelani movies) iku ewa and some very few movies that i can't remember at the moment. (i have very low tolerance for stupidity in movies, but i greatly appreciate creative ones Anticipated movies ije araromire iku ewa 2 |

Let me tell a story, (not sure if its fiction or true, also i might add or subtract from the story). Once upon a time, a boy and a girl became good friends during their freshman year. They dated each other (i am not sure whether there was sexual intimacy), through out their university days, the girl fell deeply in love with the guy. After graduation, they where still close and they saw each other regularly and talked on the phone. The guy didn't say anything about permanence with their relationship, but the girl (being a typical naija babe) didn't ask any questions, instead she was nursing high hopes that the guy will take the initiative to take the first step. Few years later (about 7 years, with the girl still hoping that she has found Mr. Right), the guy came to the girl's house to drop his wedding invitation to another girl. The girl fainted, when she became conscious, she almost went insane. The lesson of the story; if you are in a relationship (both males and females, but especially the females), don't hesitate to ask (in a non threatening way), about the future of the relationship, and be able to understand/discern the meaning of answers given (if na player you dey deal with). It is very important so that you don't waste valuable time with a relationship that has no future. |
Communicating is very important between spouses. After 3 children, of course, she will be tired. Help take care of the children, look for a babysitter (or ask a family member to look after them) and take your wife out on a date or a mini vacation. Give her a massage before going to bed. send her sexy (erotic) text messages through out the day, and she will tear your clothes off when she gets home. Pamper her. We women love romance, after that many years of marriage (with children), nobody just want to open their legs to do their "duty", it should be fun and spontaneous. Put the spark back into your marriage, and you will be surprised by her responce. Please ignore all the home-wreckers that are telling you to cheat on your wife. Only a selfish husband cheats on his wife. |
Excluding gold diggers: Some women marry guys with "prospects, but at the end of the day, when the kudi starts to roll in, the guy starts to misbehave: cheating, disrespectful, rude, marrying other wives. There's an adage that says (can't remember the actual wording), you can only know the true behavior of a man when he's rich. I'll rather marry a man that is already made or on his way because I'll know how he handles money, and his true behavior. I don't want to marry someone that will turn into a monster in the future. And if you want to go the religious way, put God first in everything that you do, and he will direct your path (he will give you your own spouse, whether already made or with prospects and an avenue to love and cherish each other no matter the circumstances). |
I tire for una people oo. We women always complain that we want our men to show more emotions, now, this guy come show emotions, you dey castigate him say, he's not man enuff. This couple are married, they want God's blessing on their marriage (you are already pregnant, isn't that putting the cart before the horse?). Anyway what the couple should have done, was to call the officiating minister to the family room, with immediate family (as witness) and bless the union, then the wedding should be turned into a party for the guest (if everyone is so bent on not postphoning) or postphone the party to celebrate one year anniversary. Some friends are not just only friends, some are closer to you that ones family. I thought the wedding should be one of the most happiest day for THE COUPLES not only the bride, so isn't it contradicting, for the groom to pretend just to please the bride? Will the bride also do the same for the groom, if the roles where reversed? The husband was very wrong when he slapped his wife. |
Jakira shannikka tanikka la'quida last-night yesterday morning nevaeh (heaven spelt backwords) especially with AA, they choose names because it sounds cute. goodluck goodwill and so much more. |

I also didn't believe (not knowing that one is pregnant), until i watched discovery health channel about women giving birth without any prior knowledge of being pregnant(i know, i am about 2-5 years late in replying, ). Research is a powerful and wonderful tool that prevents us from sounding ignorant. ![]() |
The people clamouring that didn't the workers survive before the increase: FYI, they didn't, they could hardly eat 1 meal a day talkless of 3-square meals. An increase will not make any difference because the market women will also increase their prices (Garri used to be poor man's food, now, it's ridiculously expensive). Most of these lv1 workers are college graduates not only high school grads (because of the high unemployment rate). The best and appropriate solution is for the govt to increase standard of living and provide the basic amenities of life (affordable food, constant electricity, affordable housing, security, e.t.c), and in a country like Nigeria, it won't be possible unless the people stand up with one voice and start rejecting this mediocre standard of living. |

otokx:not in the case, the man don kick the bucket. |

I agree that minimum wage should be minimum, but compared to the standard of living in Nigeria; it is ridiculously low. The minimum wage in U.S should NOT be compared to the minimum wage in Nigeria. In the U.S: - if you fall below an income bracket, you can file for tax exemptions (so not everybody pays taxes) - There is unemployment benefits (even though not related) - There is welfare for low income families (it increases depending on the number of dependants that you have) - There is tax refund for those that files - There are food stamps - There are living assistance for low income families (the govt pays a portion or the whole rent) - Transportation is cheap (also govt assistance) - There is electricity (no generator); if you can't afford electricity, govt also helps with that) - There are charity organizations for low income families - and many more (although life in Yankee is not all that rosy) So please don't compare U.S and Nigeria's minimum wages because they are not in the same league. Yes, the minimum wage in America is low BUT, the govt and charitable organizations also supplement the wages. We have no such programs in Nigeria. So the govt should either increase the wages, or create such programs (17k is still better than nothing, but what is bad is bad). For those that insist that the minimum wages should be compared: U.S $7/hr * 80 = 560 = 84000 (at 150 ngn exchange rate) Nigeria = 17k NGN also if you work over 80hrs you get paid time and a half ($7+ $3.50 = 10.50). How many employers in naija pays overtime? , they work you to the bones that you end up using the salary to buy medications/hospital bills.@ Pro Anti, if that's the case, then minimum wage should differ from states to states (increase according to cost of living), I will repeat 17k/month is ridiculously low for workers in naija. For those shouting that it is minimum wage and not living wage; what will you do if you were in that situation? I live in yankee, but i know how many people are suffering in naija, so please get of your freaking high horses and make research (or go home to experience it first hand), instead typing rubbish on the internet. ![]() |

The first time that i cooked moi-moi; i peeled, cleaned the beans, added the ingredients and spices, poured into foil pouches, the disaster: i baked instead of steam. My dad kept saying that i should steam the moi-moi instead of baking, i was stubborn saying, its baking because of the aluminum pouch. The outcome was a very hard moi-moi. |
