In a normal country, this should lead to national self-reflection with an inquiry as to why the baby was not taken to the hospital.

I really feel sorry for the lady having to lose a baby under circumstances that are likely avoidable.

Hopefully, nigerians will one day realise their enemy is not the person of other tribe or religion but the politicians who are eating away their destiny and even their chidrens destiny.

We had a president who for 8 years got treatment in the UK, whilst doctors were often on strike and relocating enmass. Now the country has another one who gets treatment in france, while the population is left with subpar hospital facilities that are sarce and unaffordable for many

A very good young woman whom her husband abandoned last year lost her 1 year old child this morning. They jovial baby was very healthy on Sunday, by Monday morning, the baby was suffering from diarrhea and vomiting. According to the mum, she was prescribed pediatric antibiotic Amoxicillin along with antimalarial (Lonart susp), paracetamol syrup and Rophegan. I was alarmed on why she gave her child Rophegan 5ml, normally this antiemetic drug is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Unfortunately this early morning the child was gasping for breath while crying loudly and died few hours later.

The issue now is that she is from far away east. She doesn't want to travel home. I have a very large space in my compound, and want to bury the child there. I consulted my kins, they objected it that I should never allow such to happen that it's against our tradition. That a child should be buried in his father's home or public cemetery. This tenant have already made up her mind to Park out few months after her rent expires due to the scandals of separating from her husband. Should I go ahead and allow her or alternatively raise funds for her to travel to the east to bury the child there. Though she isn't forthcoming with my alternative.

The mother of the lady came late in the afternoon from Abia state and pleaded I should allow them bury the baby in my compound. After considering some notable advice from here coupled with the warning from my kinsmen, I declined. The lady's mother contacted their branch pastor and they made arrangements to bury her in a place provided by their church. Later this evening the woman came back insulting my family that we are very wicked for not allowing their baby to be buried in my compound.
If not for the sympathy I had for the mother mourning her loss, I would have lost my cool.
This was the same woman responsible for the breakdown of her daughter's marriage. After marriage, she came to live with the new couple who parked into my apartment newly. Instigating her daughter against her husband. Using her daughter as a proxy to siphon off her husband's wealth, a Dubai-based businessman. Controlling the man forcefully, preventing him from socializing with others because of her insecurity complexes. The last straw that broke the marriage was when the lady and her mother teamed up to lock the husband indoors for 4 days and transferred all his money to the wife's account. That whenever he needs his own money, he should tell the wife. In short, the marriage broke down irreconcilably and the husband relocated to another state and never came back, he was neither interested in the child that was born 3 months after nor care to inquire about their wellbeing

They say he ran Lagos without federal allocations, I think that was actually shortchanging LAGOS and Lagos came off worse for it.

Going by your own stupid interpretation of decree 34 that it only abolished regional civil service and made the federal civil service take their place, how then were the regions supposed to be autonomously administered without their own civil service structure ?

The respective regional civil services were abolished by decree 34 which saw to administration by the federal civil service. This means even taxation was carried out by the federal body and no longer regional authority.

You can continue to fool yourself day in , day out but we know what led to the coup of Jan 15 which was meant to prevent the federal house in granting a referendum for the creation of COR region and decree 34 was meant to abolish regions entirely so that the question of minorities seceding from your blighted old eastern region will never be an issue.

In a follow-up to the Aburi accord, Gowon promolgated Decree 8 which was meant not only to abrogate Ironsi's dissatrous Unity Decree #34 but also to strengthen the regional autonomy by providing for regional armies.

Aburi accord agreed to the unbundling of decree 34.

But when discussions were being held in Lagos after Aburi to unbundle decree 34, Ojukwu refused to attend citing "safety reasons".

Ojukwu will get his briefings from Ejoor after flying from Enugu to Benin.

When hinted on decree 8, Ojukwu said it won't stand .

The next few days , Gowon announced decree 8.

Ojukwu said this was not in agreement with the accord reached at Aburi despite decree 8 considering all the agreements reached and even further to strengthen regions.

The regional army clause was what Ojukwu was against alongside provisions to see for the carving out of COR region from the old eastern region - a demand that had been long sought by the oppressed minorities in the old eastern region.

The accord arrived at in Aburi, Ghana has the following :

1. Members agree that the legislative and executive authority of the Federal Military Government should remain in the Supreme Military Council, to which any decision affecting the whole country shall be referred for determination provided that where it is possible for a meeting to be held the matter requiring determination must be referred to military governors for their comment and concurrence.

2. Specifically, the council agreed that appointments to senior ranks in the police, diplomatic, and consular services as well as appointment to superscale posts in the federal civil service and the equivalent posts in the statutory corporation must be approved by the Supreme Military Council.

3. The regional members felt that all the decrees passed since January 15, 1966, and which detracted from previous powers and positions of regional governments, should be repealed if mutual confidence is to be restored.

As you can see, Aburi called for an end to decree 34.

Now let's look at Decree 8

appointment of judges all over the Federation ahs been abolished. Each Military Governor now controls appointment of judges of the High Court of his Region. But the appointment of the judges of both the Supreme Court of Nigeria and the High Court of Lagos is made the sole responsibility of the Supreme Military Council.

7. All appointments to posts in the superscale group 6 and above in the Public Service of the Federation and appointments to posts of Deputy Commissioner of Police and above in the Nigeria Police Force are now to be made by the Supreme Military Council. The functions formerly discharged under sections 110 and 146 of the Constitution of the Federation by the Federal Public Service Commission and the Police Service Commission respectively are now to that extent limited. 8. Appointments to the offices of Ambassador, High Commissioner and other principal representatives of the Republic in countries other than Nigeria are now, under the Decree, to be made by the Supreme Military Council.


From the above you can see that decree 8 simply codified what was agreed upon at Aburi.

What isn't explicitly mentioned in decree 8 was the Supreme Military Council divesting military authority to regional heads to which only Ojukwu disagreed with.

Now , why would Ojukwu disagree with every region having its own standing army outside the federal army ?

Because Ojukwu and his Enugu Marxists saw this as a threat to their future power grab.

A few days after decree 8, Ojukwu invaded the Midwest and installed a puppet military head of state and from there began a putsch to Lagos.

Midwest was easily invaded and occupied because despite Ejoor's demand to Gowon for arms, Gowon was hesitant to arm the Midwest because of the overwhelmingly Igboid officers and men in the Midwest army who were all sympathetic to Enugu and the Marxist coup of Jan 15, 1966.

Gowon was then forced to create states to delegitimize Biafra territorial claims over the restive anti Ibo Niger Delta provinces.


Anyone refering to Aburi is being highly deceptive as it was Ojukwu that renegaded on Aburi by invading the Midwest and declaring Biafra with the Niger Delta regions.

Aburi was a time wasting venture meant to bid time for Ojukwu who was hell bent on seizing power from Gowon and maintaining the centrist Ironsi military dictatorship.

I will end this by stating that since 1999, every attempts to chip away from the dissatrous Ironsi centrist 1999 constitution has been opposed by them.
