I have a question to ask, i know my original certificate would have be available by now at neco office, but which of the school testimonial am i gonna use? The school i finished my ssce or the school i wrote my external exam?

The testimonial should be that of the school whose statement of result and original certificate u intend using. The three must correspond. If mist up, u're screen out for using two sittings. The link below might help in answering most of your questions:

I know having made the admission list is just the beginning of the end for all students. Many a university have several registration processes before becoming a bona fide student. I wrote this article to serve as an aid to many students that have just being given admission into Nigerian universities. There may be slight variations across the various universities in step two but everything applied in my university. The motivation to write this also emanate from my active participation in a forum discussing with prospective students for four years now.

The importance of thanking God here cannot be overemphasized. This is even apparent when we discovered barely 4% gets admission in the higher institutions in their first attempt. So if you have not thanked God, please quickly do, in a crazy way.


Gather your documents

Finding one’s name on the admission list (whether merit or supplementary) is just a first step, that is why it is called provisional admission list. There is registration to be done, fees to be paid and oath to be taken at matriculation before full resumption or the first class. I’ll use UNILAG where I have passed through and very familiar with the system as an example in this piece for easy comprehension. UNILAG instruction/requirement for this year includes:

UTME Result Slip
UNILAG Post UTME Result Slip
SSCE/GCE/NECO Statement of Result
Clear copies of computer printout/internet copy containing candidate’s result duly certified by the principal
Letter of Reference from reputable clergyman/Imam/Lawyer/Senior civil servant
Birth certificate/sworn declaration of age
Testimonial from secondary school attended
Admission letter
12 passports photograph

Instruction during registration

N.B. CANDIDATES MUST HAVE ATTAINED THE AGE OF SIXTEEN (16) BY OCTOBER 2013 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IMPERSONATION IS A SERIOUS OFFENCE AND ANYBODY FOUND GUILTY OF THIS WILL AUTOMATICALLY FORFEIT his/her ADMISSION AND WILL BE HANDED OVER TO THE POLICE/LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENT.
THE MODE OF DRESSING SHOULD BE FORMAL
CANDIDATES NOT PROPERLY DRESSED WILL NOT BE ATTENDED TO
PARENTS/GUARDIANS/MEMBERS OF STAFF NOT CONNECTED WITH REGISTRATION ARE NOT EXPECTED AT THE VENUE OF THE REGISTRATION EXERCISE.

Zimbabwean Author and Caine Prize Winner, NoViolet Bulawayo is on the awards trail again! NoViolet who won the Caine Prize for African writing with her short story, “Hitting Budapest” is now on the track for the the Guardian First Book Award 2013 with her novel, “We Need New Names”.

The Guardian First Book Award is unique because the prize judges fiction AND non-fiction. According to the Guardian review editor and chairman of panel of judges, Lisa Allardice, the award seeks to reward “excellence, promise and originality”.

The 2013 longlist for the £10,000 prize comprises five non-fiction titles, five novels and a collection of poems, which was the readers’ choice.

NoViolet who won the Caine Prize in 2011 obtained a Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) from Cornell University where she was a Truman Capote Fellow and lecturer of English. Her short story “Snapshots” was also shortlisted in 2009 for the SA PEN/Studzinski Literary Award.

The winner of the Guardian First Book Award 2013 will be announced in November. We wish NoViolet all the best

Remember you'll be using one sitting O'level, so don't mist up anything, just carry the one you want to use for the registration.

@ damosky12, If u have the original WACE cert, no. If is just Statement of result, yes.

zezeny: Any course in the faculty of science is a 4-year course. Computer Science is a course in the faculty of science. Therefore, Computer Science is a 4-year course. Goodluck.

If u have original cert, u don't need d print-out.
Carry 20 passport.
Mayb admission letter and other carry much money.

onyinye03: don't mind them, download admission requirements from unilag's site. You'll see F.maths is not needed in ur O'levels. But if u did f.maths in second skool it gives u an advantage cuz they do advanced math in the course. But its not prerequisite for admission

Why not say what you know, without F/math that admission is already forfeited. Quote me anywhere. Prior to now they'll have given you another course but b4 d former registrar left, he change the rule?

Sagamite: Early Childhood Education is not an academically rigorous field, it is more a practical and socially-important field and there are loads of jobs which are all of similar prestige you just need to have the qualification. So I don't think there is really any elitism in it. One can go to basically any institution and it is what you learnt and how you performed that matters (even the latter, I am not sure counts for much as long as you finish and pass).

If you are talking about research and being an academic, which is the academically rigorous area, then the top universities are the best place. E.g.

- Cambridge
- Oxford
- Institute of Education (University of London)
- And some of the russell group of universities and other top universsities (like Edinburgh, Durham, KCL, Manchester, Southampton to name a few)

For all that knows this year is gone, as soon as JAMB registration starts, if you care keep in touch lets do it together, that is where merit list target starts, we met many like that on Nairaland last year, this year they are already in school. Disclaimer, not through 'rongs' but d right strategies.

For those doing registration, call for your admission letters, JAMB original result slip, reference/attestation letter, and any other need/service.
As soon as school announces your hostel application(For freshers) keep in touch for your choice hall, it must be before you go online.
Do you want to stay outside school? Keep in touch for good accommodations that are moderately priced. E.T.C

Also, when you are buying a brand new ride in Nigeria, make sure you are buying the real thing and not the strip down meant for the 3rd world country, cos most of their " Brand " comes with less safety features than you will get in western/developed world, imagine a brand new Kia with only 2 air bags, even the brand new hyundai sold in Nigeria.

Yes, do understand you dont have time to wait, and might wanna save some money here and there, but dont use your money to buy driving coffins . . .
