Travel › Re: Where Do I Get Yellow Fever Vaccination Card For Traveling, In Lagos by Don1Dee(m): 12:11am On Oct 08, 2022 |
ThatPetiteChic: This thread was really helpful to me today. Location is still the same. From National b/stop, take a vehicle going to local airport and drop at training school. Cross to the other side, you will see a yellow building on your left hand side just before the toll gate. Enter the building and ask for the registration unit.
For the registration process, take your international passport or a soft copy with 2,800. Complete your registration, take your registration form inside and submit. You will be directed to where you will sit and wait for the vaccine. They will prep you on the do's and don't of the vaccine. They also give polio and csf meningitis if you want. After, the vaccine, collect your card from the table you submitted your form.
I didn't spend more than 2hrs there. Do you have idea if they open on Saturdays? |

sugaDaddy: Good day everyone. Please, I have a very crucial question to ask, it has been bothering me for a while now and I feel I should get more understanding on this (especially with people who have experienced on this).
So, I just got a conditional offer from rgu for September 5th intake. My tuition fee is N7.4m. I'm planning on paying N5m of the tuition fee. Then I'll have N2.4 left to pay. According to the schools installment plan, I'm to pay up the remaining tuition fee by February 1st. My question is, will it be possible to pay before February 1st deadline while working and schooling in the UK?
Please, this is the only doubt I'm facing before I begin my application. I'd rather stay back than risk being stranded.
Thanks But today is February 4. |

bolagabriella: Good morning guys I asked few months back if i will be able to upload pdf documents to support my dependent visa application even if i choose assisted service and was replied with yes. Due the volume of the pdf (97 pages), i wanted to opt for self service but I've been up all night to see if i could get a closer date with self service but the closest i saw was march 2nd so i had to opt for assisted service. After paying for the assisted service, i don't see anywhere i can upload the pdf files.
I will appreciate any suggestion on what to do. The pdf file already contained whatsapp chat, screenshots of whatsapp call logs, pictures of us over the years, our wedding pictures. We don't have hard copies for somes of the pictures cos they were taken with phone over 6years ago. Should i just print the pdf file and take it to TLS on the day of biometrics or is it possible to transfer the pdf file to them on the day of biometrics.
Thanks. I would assume with assisted service you've found a closer date or considering walk-in. Yes, since you can't upload print and take it there during your Biometric. You can also have them in a secured flash drive - depending on who attend to you at the front desk before Biometric, s/he can be considerate enough to use your flash. Please the later option is under probability and less likely but I saw someone do it and another rejected but with your printed copies at hand, you'd be sorted. |

ProfCorruption: No one can give you any piece of sound advice based on the information you have provided.
1.What type of work are you doing? 2.What is the pay like? 3.What advantages do you think masters will confer? 4.Which school are you considering for this masters degree?
If you have a GOOD job, it's better you work for at least two years to establish what I called "work experience" It's very easy to move from one job to another but can be difficult to get your first job. Also, don't get Masters degree for masters sake; be strategic about it. For example, if you studied microbiology or chemistry and you're working in brewery, don't get your master in analytical chemistry or whatever microbiology. Do it in Brewing. That way, if you are done with masters, you can be sure of getting a job quickly. It's very easy for a candidate who has a SUITABLE work experience plus a RELEVANT masters degree to land a GOOD job.
Finally, if you MUST get a masters degree at all, go to a HIGHLY rated school. Can you please define a highly rated school, in this context. |

Webmasters › Re: Make Money Blogging by Don1Dee(m): 7:54am On Jun 12, 2015 |
Jarus: I think authority blogging is the surest way to making money blogging. Authority or expert blogging is one in which the blogger earns the respect and trust of readers over time and solves people's problems by offering premium services/products.
This is different from traffic-based blogging, which relies on advert. Linda Ikeji, etc are traffic-based blogs and they earn money from advert revenue.
The downside of authority blogging is, it is not for everyone. In fact, only very few people can do it. Traffic-based blogging is easier, just get traffic to your blog and you make money from adsense etc.
I run a blog that is an authority in career matters. How did it start? I started by innocently giving free career tips on Nairaland here some 7 or 8 years ago, and I realized my opinions sat well with many readers, although I never knew it would one day become I can do independently. I realized this is a skill I can convert into a venture. In 2013, I decided to open my own independent platform, to be solely based on careers. That was what led to the birth of my own platform.
I opened JarusHub in March 2013, and it hit the ground running because of the reputation (authority) I had been able to build on NL careers section over time.
We don't get much traffic (just about 1000 pageviews per day) and we rank very low on Alexa, but because of the value of our content, readers come back everyday and we are able to have loyal following, in addition to people that find us while searching Google for answers to career issues.
Today, 2 years after, what started as a blog is now a full scale career consulting startup with staff and office, while I still maintain my day job.
While all the money we have made from the blog since inception is less than my one month salary in my regular day job, I'm happy that it has established itself as a go-to site for career stuff in Nigeria and we hope to do better.
Like I said earlier, authority blogging involves establishing yourself as an expert in a field and then going ahead to offer premium services/products relating to that field. Today, the blog has earned us authority on interview matters in Nigeria and we have traveled to other parts of Nigeria (Abuja, PH) just to coach people on interviews. This last weekend, we made almost 200k in 2 days.
What started as a blog is now a full scale startup with office and employee. That is what authority blogging can do. Your explicit answer to questions/topics with clear examples is usually commendable. By the way, your salary must be mega. |
Webmasters › Re: Why Do Nigerians Hate Commenting On Tech Blogs? by Don1Dee(m): 5:27pm On May 28, 2015 |
Jarus: Simple: tech awareness is still low in Nigeria.
As a career blogger, I also noticed that people don't comment on articles that are academic and technical.
Many of the guys that contribute to my blog got discouraged from writing because of low engagement their articles attract.
Another thing I noticed: In Nigeria, people see bloggers as no-do-gooders. They just don't want to associate with blog.
Also, people here are usually uncomfortable to comment on blogs. I was surprised recently, when after reading an article a contributor to my blog wrote on James Lafferty, former CEO of CocaCola West Africa, BAT etc, the man himself showed up (God knows how he saw the article - maybe through Google alert) and personally commented. I can't imagine a Nigerian Bank MD commenting on a blog! True that Jarus! I operate in the education niche through edugist.org, same problem...we're not hungry for knowledge, insight, analysis and personal growth related information, at all. As a jarushub loyalist, the poor or lack of engagement by readers baffles me, considering the intellectual prowess of your contributors. And these are busy guys and 'BIG BOYS'. The articles I least expect are where I get comments in edugist, usually questions. I once wrote an observation about an event I attended at Four Point hotel, days after, a senoir staffer of the coy that orgnised the event commented and mailed to meet me. Today, I do business with them. When Malala visited Nigeria, I reported it and she commented. During the Save School Initiative, aside reporting I wrote my opinion...UN convoy on education and former UK PM, Gordon Brown and her wife had to argue on my opinion via comment. To Nigerians, there are making the blogger a favor. It get discoraging at times. |

Ojisik: Some people are lucky enough to get jobs before NYSC in places that corpers can't legally be posted to (e.g: banks, multinationals ). If you know someone that owns a school or works at a place where corpers are legally posted to, you could get a letter of request from them before you enter camp so that you'll be posted there and get the mandatory monthly clearance from them which is a prerequisite for allawee and getting your discharge certificate. Some corpers also go to camp without request letters then they make deals with their PPA (place of primary assignment -where NYSC posts you to) and work elsewhere. This is risky if you have a job already because some don't agree to let corpers go. I hope this was of help to you. Really helpful...many thanks! |

Jarus: Many Nigerians don't care about others except #9. Even at that, people prefer to continue to "rough" it.
In all my 8 years career, salary has never been delayed for 2 days after the 25th pay day. Except in January 2009, at the height of the global economic crunch when it was delayed for 5 days ( we were paid 31st or so) due to cashflow issues.
Salary delay is not something I want to experience at all. If you experience it, what will you do? |

Papparassi: GEJ stopped being an Olumba olumba since 1999. He dumped Olumba for Anglican in 1999 and now worships at RCCG. In fact he is regular to the RCCG Holy Ghost congress. He was at last years RCCG Holy Ghost congress in Lagos.
GEJ is a very close pal of Pastor Adeboye. Lies. I'm a bonafide memeber of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS [Olumba Olumba]) and a Niger Deltan. GEJ is NOT a member of BCS. He has only step his foots in the church headquarters in Calabar once looking for solution for his former boss, Diepreye. He'd came expecting quick fixes with the belief that we're a cult as most Nlers are posting in this thread. When he's expectation was dashed; it turned out he'll never visit again. The discourse here is irrelevant as it relates to the governance of this Nation. Let's not be blinded by religion or ethnic bias, president Jonathan has failed us. The Nigeria constitution stated clearly, yes clearly that 'the state house should (here referred as the seat of power) should be separated from any religious centre and its promotion in there'. From practice, especially in this republic the reverse is the case. One of our major problem as individuals, our institutions and nationally is religious blindness. However, GEJ is an example of our lack of openness in ths side of the Atlantic. Focus your mind back; a thread was opened sometime ago to at least identified one person GEJ taught as a lecturer, according to his profile. Not one person was found. As an individual, I've instigated this too, as you can guess I found none - which is odd. On the flip sisde, I once sat in Osinbajo class in UNILAG. Most recently, 1st Oct. I interviewed him at the platform. Let's stop being sentimental for the good of this country and fate of our unborn children. #peace |
