The Buhari led Government of Nigeria has appointed transaction advisers to facilitate the issuance of Eurobonds in the international capital market.

he Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the bail application brought before it by the 12 detained aides of Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu ordered all the detained aides to be admitted to bail.

He gave the order after a recess that lasted for over two hours, following the submissions of the counsels on both sides.

The lawyer to the detained aides, Pelumi Olajengbesi had prayed the court to admit the Igboho aides to bail unconditionally.

Justice Ladiean Akintola of Oyo High Court has granted an ex-parte motion restraining the Department of State Security (DSS) and Attorney General of the Federation from arresting, intimidating, harassing, and blocking bank accounts of Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.

Recall that DSS officials raided his Ibadan home on July 1, arrested twelve of his supporters and declared him wanted.

Igboho who fled the country afterwards through his lawyer, Yomi Aliyu, filed a N500 million lawsuit against the DSS over the invasion of his residence.

It gets messier and more complicated as the embattled former commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, has deleted his Facebook post denying taking a bribe from Hushpuppi, a notorious fraudster standing trial in the US.

Kyari has now deleted the post on his Facebook page after altering the statement to add another money-related case he handled involving Hushpuppi.

Veteran actress, Rachel Oniga has died at the age of 64.

According to reports, the actress who has been divorced from her husband for 19 years, died on Friday night July 30th from Covid-19 complications.

Oniga is said to have shot some scenes in a movie at Mowe, Ogun state earlier this week before her death. Other details are still sketchy at the time of filing this report.

Abba Kyari, the Nigerian police commissioner recently exposed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a member of an Internet fraud syndicate, has described his scandal, including the police investigation thereof, as a joke.

Mr Kyari’s unremorseful comment came after he was accused of once raping a suspect in his custody by a social media user. It was not immediately clear where and when the alleged incident occurred, but the picture of Ada Ngozichukwu, a pro-Biafran agitator, was shared as the victim.

The legal team of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, is awaiting an official medical report, among other documents, to file a bail application on his behalf

One of the 11 lawyers expected to represent Igboho said members of the legal team had resolved to put up a strong bail application that would not be rejected by the court.

The lawyer, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak, said, “Preliminary reports that we are getting from the medical team show that Igboho needs medical attention. They said he appears strong physically, but his state of health is not getting better. He was limping during Monday’s proceeding.

More and more details have been streaming in since earlier reports of Hushpuppi also known as Ramoni Abass entering a plea deal in his business email compromise fraud trial that started since yesterday the 27th of July. Earlier today we reported that Ramoni entered a plead deal which makes it likely that there may not be a trial anymore.

Nigerian journalist, Kemi Olunloyo who made these new details known has now detailed how it all started and how Ramoni landed in trouble. The journalist also explained that they were all rounded up in Dubai and that one of the team members, Sikiru, has been released and has since returned to Lagos, Nigeria.

Ramoni's sentencing is expected to come up in October but it is unclear where he will be deported to after serving his term as he has denounced his Nigerian citizenship. She also pointed out that Ramoni carries a passport of an exotic island in the Caribbean.

Ibrahim Salami, the lawyer to Sunday Igboho has revealed what the Yoruba Nation agitator told the Benin appeal court in a session that lasted up till midnight on Monday.

Igboho told the court that he fled Nigeria to avoid being killed, his lawyer revealed to a correspondent of The Nation.

Igboho also explained his mission in Cotonou.

Salami, a Professor of Law in a Beninoise University, said: “While defending himself on the criminal allegations put on his head by Nigeria, Igboho told the judges that he had never been tried for any crime in his life.”

The three Israeli filmmakers arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) will spend the second week in detention without being charged to court by the Nigerian government.

The Israelis were taken in by Nigeria’s secret police over allegations that they supported the activities of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer of Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)​, has said that his client, will soon be released.

Ejiofor gave the assurance after revealing that there were no strong allegations to convict Kanu.

The Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State Chapter is plotting a legal move to ensure the return of Emeka Ihedioha as governor of the state and sack Hope Uzodinma.

PDP through its lawyer, Phillips Umeadi filed additional processes alongside a motion tabled since 2020 praying the Supreme Court to reverse its decision sacking Emeka Ihedioha.

Seven men were reportedly killed in an early morning attack on the residence of Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, in Soka area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has overturned Bill Cosby’s sex assault conviction after finding an agreement with a previous prosecutor prevented him from being charged in the case.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court, held on Wednesday, in a 4-3 decision that some of the evidence used to secure the conviction against Mr Cosby had violated his due process rights in a 79-page opinion.

“For these reasons, Cosby’s convictions and judgment of sentence are vacated, and he is discharged,” the document said.

The price of a litre of Automotive Gas Oil, also known as diesel, has risen to N280, buoyed by the recent increase in global oil prices and naira devaluation.

The PUNCH had reported on February 24, 2021 that some filling stations in Lagos had increased diesel price to N250 per litre, while many others sold it at between N220-N245 per litre.

The global oil benchmark, Brent crude, which averaged $62.28 per barrel in February, stood at $75.10 per barrel as of 5:15pm Nigerian time on Monday.

Our correspondent observed on Monday that the price of the product, which is not regulated by the government, ranged from N270 to N280 per litre in several filling stations in Lagos.
