Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho is currently under extradition procedure back to Nigeria.

Igboho after a raid on his Ibadan home by operatives of the Department of State Services had escaped to Cotonou in the Benin Republic.

The Nigerian Navy has confirmed it arrested and detained popular Instagram skit maker Ahmed Gafar also known as Cute Abiola, declared missing by his relatives, for violating its social media policy.

“The young man was found to have breached the social media policy while he was on leave. So he was recalled, asked to come back, but he refused until he completed his leave which is a disobedience to particular orders,” the spokesperson for the navy, Commodore Suleman Dahun, told The Gazette.

He reiterated that Cute Abiola was not missing but locked up in his unit for breaching the “Armed Forces social media policy.”

“So, when he came back, we took him into custody for him to face the consequence,” Mr Dahun added.

A mother, Elizabeth Ebere, has accused a teacher at the Adeoye International School, Iyana-Iyesi, in the Ota area of Ogun State, of assaulting her daughter, Chizaram, aka Zara.

Ebere said the beating her daughter received from the teacher, identified only as Mrs Taiwo, made the three-year-old fall sick.

She said that the teacher allegedly flogged her daughter several times in the leg for refusing to write in school.

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) says it has liquidated at least 500 deposit money, microfinance, and primary mortgage banks whose licenses were revoked by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The corporation also disclosed that it was currently settling the liquidation dividends of depositors of the banks.

Galadima Gana, the Director, Insurance and Surveillance Department of the NDIC, revealed this at the 2021 Financial Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) workshop on Friday in Ibadan.

According to Mr Gana, the corporation had closed 325 MFBs, 50 PMBs, and 49 DMBs whose licences were revoked by the CBN with minimal effects on the stability and confidence in the banking sector.

Mr Gana also mentioned that NDIC had cumulatively paid N8.27 billion to insured depositors of DMBs, N3.38 billion to insured depositors of MFBs, and N11 billion to insured depositors of PMBs.

He stated that the payment to uninsured depositors, creditors, and shareholders of DMBs cumulatively stood at N100.85 billion, N1.27 billion, and N4.83 billion, respectively.

He said this represented 51.07 per cent, 73.13 per cent and 92.81 per cent of the respective amounts.

The rift between the family of the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet Temitope Joshua, and a disciple of the late prophet is unabated over the running of the church

The leadership and succession crises at the Synagogue Church of All Nations may not be over as a member of the Board of Trustees, Joseph David has raised the alarm over alleged threats to his life and those of other leaders of the ministry.

David, who has gone into hiding with other disciples of the late founder of the church, Prophet Temitope Joshua, aka TB Joshua, claimed that the family of the founder was using law enforcement agents to hunt them.

He said this was because of their perceived closeness to the late cleric and supposed knowledge of important details of the church not known to the family.

For the first time, a pig kidney has been transplanted into a human without triggering immediate rejection by the recipient's immune system, a potentially major advance that could eventually help alleviate a dire shortage of human organs for transplant.

The procedure done at NYU Langone Health in New York City involved use of a pig whose genes had been altered so that its tissues no longer contained a molecule known to trigger almost immediate rejection

The recipient was a brain-dead patient with signs of kidney dysfunction whose family consented to the experiment before she was due to be taken off of life support, researchers told Reuters.

The sword, with its one-metre-long blade and a 30-centimetre-long hilt, was lying on the seabed off the Carmel coast, the Israel Antiquities Authority said on Monday.

“The sword, which has been preserved in perfect condition, is a beautiful and rare find and evidently belonged to a Crusader knight,’’ said Nir Distelfeld, inspector for the Israel Antiquities Authority’s Robbery Prevention Unit.

Gozie Okeke, a popular Igbo gospel Singer, is currently in recovery, and he took to Instagram to update his followers while thanking them for their prayers.

The Akanchawa singer has suffered a series of health problems in the past few years.
