Foreign Affairs / America Is Bankrupt; To Run Out Of Money By Next Month: Treasury Secretary by donaldeke(m): 1:51pm On Sep 29
The United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has warned that the U.S. risks running out of money by October 18.

Ms Yellen’s warnings came as Republicans in the Senate opposed an increase in the borrowing limit.

“At that point, we expect the Treasury would be left with very limited resources that would be depleted quickly,” she said in a letter to Congress. “It is uncertain whether we could continue to meet all the nation’s commitments after that date.”

Ms Yellen repeated her warnings when testifying before the Senate banking committee, saying a default “would undermine confidence in the dollar as the reserve currency, and the interest payments of ordinary Americans on their mortgages and on their cars and on their credit cards would all go up in line with higher Treasury borrowing costs.”

On Monday, Republicans in the Senate voted against a bill slated to raise the U.S. borrowing limit.

o extend funding for the American government as current funds are projected to run out by September 30. The bill would have extended funding to keep the government open till early December.

Sports / Premier League Clubs Discuss Possibility Of Overseas Games by donaldeke(m): 2:52pm On Sep 27

Taking matches outside of England has long been discussed, with former league chairman Richard Scudamore first bringing up the idea of a '39th game' all the way back in 2008. These plans did not receive support from UEFA, FIFA or the FA, leading to them being scrapped.

There has always been a feeling that overseas games are an inevitability and we could be one step closer to seeing it, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

He reports that when Premier League club executives met in London last week, continuing the growth of the competition around the world was one key area of discussion. The United States, China, India, Brazil and Indonesia were all pinpointed as potential expansion areas.

Mo is a name to reckon with when it comes to media and a lot of people have been 'tapping' into the anointing, but from recent stories that were broken by an Instagram user, they may not be wanting the anointing anymore.

The Instagram user, Gistlover made it clear that among mo Abudu list of men are Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC leader; Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, Babatunde Raji Fashola, former governor of Lagos State and now minister, Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Port Harcourt and also now a minister (transport); among many others including her daughter's father-in-law.

On this list also sits comfortably Bisi Onasanya a former First Bank Chief. The post has it that Onosanya was a wonderful banker with a shining track record until Abudu came along. You would recall that there was a time the bank's leadership was in turmoil and we can not say for sure if this was the reason. The north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur is possibly the most exciting fixture in English football, and over the years it has allowed some of the biggest stars of the game to flourish on its stage.

The two teams are currently struggling to emulate the successes of the past, but the fact they're not competing for the biggest trophies on offer does not make this contest any less appealing.

There is certainly no shortage drama when it comes to rivalry, and there are still some genuine superstars on display. But which club would boast the most players in a current combined starting lineup?

Jobs/Vacancies / United Kingdom Employs 353 Nigerian Doctors In 100 Days by donaldeke(m): 12:15pm On Sep 22
At least 353 Nigerian doctors have been registered to work in the United Kingdom in the last 100 days.

Checks on the website of the General Medical Council – the body which licenses and maintains the official register of medical practitioners in the UK – showed that the GMC licensed at least 353 Nigerian-trained doctors between June 10, 2021 and September 20, 2021.

The statistics also showed that between July 24, 2020 and September 21, 2021, about 862 Nigeria trained doctors were licensed in the UK despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, 8,737 doctors who obtained their degrees in Nigeria currently practise in the UK.

Speaking to one of our correspondents on Tuesday, the Vice-President of the National Association of Resident Doctors, Julian Ojebo, said the rate of migration might double in the coming weeks since doctors were not given the right remuneration.

Ojebo argued that the doctors migrating to Saudi Arabia might even be more than those moving to the UK.

He said it was unfortunate that the government had failed to address the plight of doctors and meet their conditions for calling off the strike which began on August 1, 2021.

Ojebo stated, “If 353 Nigerian doctors have been licensed in the last 100 days, I am sure the figure will double within the next one month. The strike has opened the eyes to the doctors that Nigeria does not care about them.

Sports / Joan Laporta Determined To Bring Pep Guardiola Back To Barcelona by donaldeke(m): 11:45am On Sep 22
Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants Pep Guardiola to return to the club, either as a manager, the position he previously held from 2008 to 2012, or sporting director.

La Blaugrana's start to life in the post-Lionel Messi era has been rough, with Barça taking eight points from their opening four La Liga games.

Ronald Koeman oversaw an unthinkable route one performance in their draw at home to Granada on Monday, and Barcelona look very unlike the Guardiola sides from last decade.

Now, El Nacional report Laporta 'will do everything in his power' to bring the current Manchester City boss back to the club, although the local publication admits it is 'almost impossible'.

Guardiola has previously insisted that his time as Barça's head coach is a thing of the past, but Laporta is also willing to propose that he could take up a directorial role instead. El Nacional suggested a hypothetical setup with Ajax's Erik ten Hag as head coach and Guardiola alongside Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff in support upstairs at Camp Nou is feasible.

Sports / Lionel Messi To Miss PSG Clash With Metz Due To Knee Injury by donaldeke(m): 2:27pm On Sep 21
The Argentine was hooked in PSG’s 2-1 win over Lyon at the weekend, but was substituted by Mauricio Pochettino with the score at 1-1.

Messi did not look happy as he was brought off and sat on the bench but after picking up a knock, scans have revealed that he has a bone contusion in his left knee, the club confirmed.

There will be another update on the injury in the coming 48 hours, and so PSG will have to face Metz without Messi, who is still without a goal for his new side.

He came close to breaking his duck against Lyon, hitting the crossbar from a free kick and spurning a number of good opportunities. Neymar and Mauro Icardi managed to find the goals to seal the win for PSG.

While Messi has been sidelined again, Marco Verratti has returned to first team training, while Sergio Ramos is continuing his road to recovery after joining from Real Madrid this summer.

Despite looking shaky since the international break, PSG have won all six of their opening Ligue 1 games this season as they look to claw the French title back from Lille.

After facing Metz on Wednesday, they host Montpellier on Saturday before taking on Manchester City in a mammoth Champions League fixture at Parc des Princes.

PSG stumbld to a1-1 draw with Club Brugge in their opening group stage fixture last week, and will be looking to avenge their semi-final defeat to City last season.
