I have observed that it is either you have problem understanding questions or you willfully ignore it because you don't have the answers, which is it?

NB:You know some of us are very busy and are only interested in constructive conversation than the back-and-forth that are the hallmark of most exchange on this platform.
Is it that you lack simple comprehension skillshuh

I was trying to say not everybody earns dollars from side hustle like me and that those who don't have their own way which works for them

Of course not all money. But the one that is classified as "diaspora remittance" is because it is in the name. grin.

Well you said that there are thousands like you, I am not going to doubt that. Those that are like you what are the percentage in terms of our local labour force?
Everybody has their way!

Day in day out, people here are building their own houses and buyings cars. No life-long loans!! No life-long mortgages!!! cool

You did tell me, you were talking to someone else. Anyways isn't it more beneficial to discuss issues that you have facts?

Well at least I know for a fact that diaspora remittance is 22billion dollars in 2022 (this did not include money that they sent back via unofficial channel). I am just wondering if they are not doing as well as you claimed how was it possible for them to send such money back home?

I believe that 2023 figure will be higher when released.

Yes I agree that remittance is not a clear evidence that they are all living well abroad but at least it is a better evidence than your opinion that you can't back up.

If I may ask what do you do for living in Nigeria?
Not all monies sent from abroad are diaspora remittances. embarassed

By the grace of God, I earn dollars from my side hustle and it gets sent to me monthly smiley

And there are thousand of people like me smiley

Reading through your post got me thinking.. Are you being true to yourself with this your assumption. You feel people coming to the Uk are uneducated and dull.. Abi student and Health workers look like who will be a diswasher forever? Be truth bruv. Your comparison should be bulit on fact or statistics. Someone that can raise 15M to japa will be dishwasher forever. Aba

Why compare new immigrants of less than 5 months in the UK with someone in nigeria all their years.

I'm currently in the UK now. I came in September... Are things easy? No! Will things be easy over a period of time? YES!

Some me when dey do Master on top renewable energy engineering go work low job forever? Forget masters self... with time and sense for head everywhere go good.

Before I forget... in the uk, when you start low, you must go high. You can't be where you were yesterday.

Let's talk about the environment and working system... compare to nigeria.

And for you saying dishwasher in nigeria earn good pay. Oh lawd. Stop lying. Nigeria get dishwasher self? Abi na same cook dey wash plate grin

Next time you compare this your baseless comparison... Use time frame... Use Immigration status... Using currency strength.

Much Love.

Where did I say dishwashers in Nigeria earn good payhuh

I said they NEVER have to depend on their salary. And that while they are at it, they are good.

No graduate should be a dishwasher anywhere in the world angry

Best of luck!

Just curious how many dish washer in Nigeria do you know that ended up building a house buying a car and leaving the good life like you claimed? Let me even start with what proportion of graduates in Nigeria ended up having the good life?

I am just trying to have an idea and compared that with friends that came here as students and did dish washing during their student days but are now having a successful career.
Like I told you, I don't have to know them personally.
But no dishwasher remains so in Nigeria without moving on to something better. But while they were at it, they were good.
I once worked in a hotel but not in the core hotel operations though.
The staff NEVER relied on their salaries. And they were okay. Their colleagues abroad CAN NEVER claim to be better off. smiley

A dishwasher abroad like you said can afford to enjoy the luxury of life ,buy car and live in his own house at the expense of been indebted but as long as he his still on his ten toes he can offset them, now tell me can an average dishwasher in Nigeria ever dream of those luxury when the little he earns won't be enough to meet his basic needs.
They almost NEVER offset the debts all their lives. That's why they can't return to Nigeria.

An average dishwasher in Nigeria NEVER remains so. They eventually move on and live the good life.

Even as dishwashers, they still make it - live in their own house and have their own car. It is depends on how diligent they are.

Dishwashers in nigeria do buy their own cars? Swear with all you have that you have seen a dishwasher in nigeria who has a personal car.Oga,no con dey cap for here like say na novice you dey word. I know you are trying so hard to denigrate the guy's hustle but give it up,it's not working. The Nigerian exchange rate has capitulate things for an average Nigerian so as long as someone is earning hourly based in some foreign currency,he is far above some people who we feel are doing some dignifying work here. The famous Sola sobowale once left her movie role to do cleaning, cooking and mopping of floors in UK.if the standard and pay were the same, why didn't she do it with a random IYA ALAMALA cafeteria in Lagos?
Whether you like it or not, a dishwasher remains a dishwasher whether in Nigeria or abroad?

Does the dishwasher abroad not live all his life on debt/mortgage should he try to buy his own car or live in his own house?

why would u even argue dishwasher abroad is not better than the ones here? Hw much dishwasher in Nigeria dey earn monthly. Show me salary screenshot salary of a dishwasher earning upto 100k monthly and I would hands up argument with u.
You guys will never learn

Nigerians hardly ever depend on their salaries especially the low-income earners.

What some dishwashers make daily from tips and the rest far dwarfs their monthly pay.

Oga which kind dust be this naw, a dishwasher abroad and their counterpart here are the same, please what kind of joke is that, a dishwasher there is designated to wash dish alone but here, she will wash dish, serve customers, mob floors and still run some other odd errands for the boss and to crown it all will still be paid less than a minimum wage.A dishwasher abroad can afford to buy a car overthere with his/her savings in less than a year, what can an average dishwasher here save out of the pittance she is been paid. That guy is far better than alot of guys on a corporate job here, you can agree or disagree.
BS!

Nigerians hardly ever depend on their salary - especially the low income salary earners.

The tips dishwashers get alone daily dwarfs their montly pay by far.

Dishwashers here do buy their own cars too.

A dishwater is a dishwasher whether in UK or Nigeria. cheesy

you must be out of ur mind to say the guy is not better than a driver/gatemen in Nigeria. Can u compare earning in foreign currency to the fuilty meagre naira? I believe the guy can even work different work shift in UK that's if he's a head working hustler buh in Nigeria, such is hardly the case. Let him manage his finances well, he could end up having reasonable properties down here compared to what any average driver/gateman could own here in Nigeria.

Irrespective of ur claim that drivers and gateman earn well in ur work place and even own houses is just a mere saying without facts. hence, it's only the gullible and thoughtless that would believe u. Beside, getting a dishwasher work abroad is still miles easier and better than these abject slavery works in Nigeria.
Believe it or not, a dishwasher abroad is not better than their counterpart here. That is the fact.
The only consolation those abroad have is that they can send money home to build a house after slaving HARD for donkey years.
When will they come and live in the house? Will they everhuh
