The Federal University of Technology, Owerri has concluded plans to produce an electric car which would be known as “AFRICAR”.

This was made known by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. C. C. Asiabaka during an interaction with a delegation from the Department of Automobile Engineering, Technical University, Munich, Germany who were in the University on a collaboration visit to the University. He further disclosed that the collaboration with Technical University, Munich, Germany would enhance the quality of the electric car to be produced by the University as four (4) FUTO Ph.D students will be working with selected postgraduate students from the Technical University, Munich, Germany on the project. He disclosed that a major fallout of the project would be the development of a functional Department of Automobile Engineering by FUTO. He also noted that the project would be a marriage between research and the Industry.


In his presentation, the Team leader of the delegation from Technical University, Munich, Germany stated that the “Africar” project was a specially designed concept for developing an electronic vehicle in meeting about 95% mobility needs of the people of the sub-Saharan Africa. He further stated that similar projects have been completed in Europe and Asia and the “Africar” would be affordable, environmentally-friendly with electronic architecture and produced with local content materials. He also added that the “Africar” project has been designed to meet the peculiar needs of Nigerians.

The Project Co-ordinator of the “Africar” project, Engr Prof O. M. I. Nwafor stated that the realisation of the “Africar” project would mark a major breakthrough in technological advancement in the country with FUTO in the driving seat. He added that the tripartite collaboration between FUTO, Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo and the Technical University, Munich, Germany would strengthen the final phases in the production of the “Africar”.

In his contribution at the occasion, the Rector of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Rev Fr. Dr Wence Madu disclosed that the project would revolutionise the automobile industry in the country.

The delegation later inspected the Automoblie Workshop and other relevant facilities in the University

A 100 level student of the department of CST (Crop Science
Technology), FUTO was rushed to the FUTO medical center this
afternoon after she was said to have drank bleach for reasons that
are still unclear.
She was simply identified as Faith by the boy who rushed her to the
medical center on a bike. He said he was in his room when he was called
up by her roommates that she collapsed after she drank the bleach.
The boy claimed he doesn't know why she drank the substance.
When her friends were quizzed, they simply said they were all
together and she was just high up and left for her room only for them
to find her unconscious with the substance around her. Some say it
was as a result of a jilt by her boyfriend. The real reason for her to
attempt her life is yet unknown as inverstigation is still going on. ..

She's been brought to a stable condition but is still unconscious and
couldn't talk much. The boy who rescued her, a close friend of hers
said he was able to question her and she could only say she took alittle
of the substance when her chest pain started. This led to her
unconsciousness but she still didn't say why she took the bleach.
Last year, a 100 level UI student was reported to have drank bleach
because she was jilted by her boyfriend and earlier this year, a FUTO
student almost threw herself off a bike cause of same reason. Our
parents need to caution their wards, for whatever reason should a
student try to kill herself? God help us.

The Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Steve Evans, described the porting of the Saka as an error that will be corrected soon.

Speaking in Lagos at a media Roundtable on Mobile Number Portability, Mr Evans noted that “We all make mistakes in life” and the porting of Saka from Etisalat to MTN was a mistake and will be corrected.

Mr Evans noted that Etisalat is well prepared for the "porting" policy and has built and expanded its network to accommodate over 30 million subscribers which is double its present capacity.

“I was inspired by the beauty of Kim Kardashian and felt quite put-off by the media’s criticism of her weight gain during pregnancy,” Edwards said in a statement.

“Such criticism should be off limits. We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity’s most intimate moments,” added Cory Allen.

A source working for the government sent me this message of how producer-cum singer, K-Solo. defrauded the Osun state government of about N60,000...yes you heard it, just N60,000.

According to the source, the Osun state govt organised a talent hunt called 'Omoluabi talent hunt' which was scheduled to take place by Dec 9th of 2012. The talent hunt was headed by popular Dj Bassman of Osun 104.5Fm.

Bassman recruited some panel of judges, he made K-Solo the leading star as an indigene of Osun state despite lots of people seeking to be judges for free. K-Solo demanded to be paid N50,000 for this and an extra N10,000 for fueling his car. He also requested for 3 rooms in a comfortable hotel. Dj Bassman paid the money (N60,000) into K-Solo's account and paid for 3 rooms in one of the best hotels in Oshogbo state capital costing N9500 per room. K-Solo however on the day of the event, threatened he won't turn up and nothing would happen. The organisers pleaded with him to turn up but he refused and bragged about who he his and what he could do and nothing would happen. Dj Bassman seemingly pissed off at the turn of event and with the govt on his neck, got into intense words with K-Solo. He warned him to refund the money or face embarrassments. K-Solo declined claiming nothing would be done and he won't return no cash. Dj Bassman angered by this, called K-Solo's manager, Funmi Cartel. She backed her artiste up as was expected, claiming he was in Ghana when K-Solo was firmly in Lagos. Bassman threatened her they would get both of them arrested if the payment wasn't done.

With all the pressure mounting, K-Solo promised the payment would be made the following week when he returns from Ghana which they did but could only raise N50,000. K-Solo pleaded with Dj Bassman to hold on that he would pay the balance the following week. "Imagine he couldn't afford to refund N60,000,..." the source said, "...he is a disgrace to producers and artistes in the music industry."

Professor Kas Ibe of the Department of Geology, FUTO, was pronounced dead yesterday, after giving up his battle with an illness. the Professor had been sick for sometime now and treatments by Doctors had been going on before he gave up the ghost yesterday. A source close to the deceased revealed to DEB.

The department of Geology, School of Sciences and FUTO as a whole, mourn this great Professor, who was popular amongst students. Its my school and may his gentle soul RIP. Amen!

Even after some Chelsea fans are calling for the player to be axed, the club who has seen more potential in the Super eagles star has gone ahead to award his performances with a new 5 yr contract as reported by Chelsea Fc site posted just few mins ago, a statement from the site reads,

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce John Mikel Obi has signed a new five-year contract which will keep him at the club until 2017.

The midfielder has been a first-team regular since arriving as a 19-year-old in the summer of 2006.

Mikel made his debut that August, and has gone on to make 261 appearances, 213 as a starter. In that time he has scored twice.

Originally an attack-minded midfielder, it was Jose Mourinho who saw the defensive potential in the player, and he has since been used as an anchorman after learning from the great Claude Makelele in his early Chelsea days.

The 25-year-old won the club's Young Player of the Year award in his first season. Since then he has collected four FA Cup medals, one Barclays Premier League, a Carling Cup and of course the Champions League, where in the Final in May he played an important role in keeping Bayern Munich at bay.

Upon signing his new deal, the Nigerian international said: 'Chelsea seems like my home now because I have been here for over six years and I enjoy my time here. I come into the training ground every day to work and I value my time there. I am happy and want to keep going and win trophies for this club.

I was on twitter last night doing my normal olofofo work when I stumbled on a tweet fight between dance organiser and coordinator willadebo who's a popular figure on twitter and DONJAZZY. I went on to do my job and found out he was actually picking on Eldee but Donjazzy trying to play a neutral role, stepped on the toes of Willadebo and colleague Dappyboy who's a blogger and site owner of entertainment blog, .

This weekend, Eldee the Don's Trybe Records released a dance competition - Kokoma Dance Competition.where the winner (K9's "KOKOMA" DANCE COMPETITION) gets N250,000 + Live performance at 2012 Harp Rhythm Unplugged!

The boys accused Eldee of stealing the concept they brought to Donjazzy with the idea of working with him. According to them, Donjazzy probably discussed it with eldee who renamed it to the kokoma dance competition. Donjazzy tried to deny this but little did he knoe he was dealing with really determined boys who used the populare blackberry app, screen muncher to grab the pm he sent to Dappyboy begging him to forget about it and clear his name. The boy referred to EldeeTheDon and Donjazzy as Dunce saying Don + Don = Dunce...Muhaha this got me cracking seriously. Its a different thing entirely for you to breakup with your wife cause you were probably tired of the marriage or something but to deny your own son just because you've got another woman? Kikelomo Christiana Akinkunmi, the now ex-wife to fringe producer and artiste K-solo recently put to bed, the result a bouncing baby boy, whom K-Solo denied the paternity claiming he had no baby with ex-wife Kike. The wife has probably moved on but this is something that would haunt her. A man you once cherished now denying to be the father of your son, your own blood? I hope he doesn't regret this someday.

I believe from the photo, its very clear that the baby looks like the man in the photo, or is it mere co incidence? I mean its absurd. We are used to his slurs and I just hope he doesn't turn around to say its another movie he directed, that would be a slap to the other side of our cheek.If he were asked to go for a DNA test, would he be able? I hope as he stood to tell the whole world the son isn't his, he would be able to stand when the son comes of age.
