imsuboi: You must be high What do you know? What is special about Etisalat? Let's even forget about my MTN freebies, on a normal scale what does Etisalat have to offer? Very high call tariffs, the most expensive data plans and oh, they dash bonus when you recharge but charge you N1 per sec so you finish the bonus plus your main credit without achieving anything. If there's something you know about them tell me If you can't, then you're the really high person here. |

Goahead: A simple Google search will go a long way to teach you how to flash a ROM brother.
My best selling tell-all;;;
Procedure Download a ROM (Global/China Developer/Global Beta Build/Stable ROM/Custom Rom) Place the ROM on your SD card Turn off your Phone. When it is completely switched off, press and hold "Volume Up" and "Power" button together and then the phone will turn on in Boot menu. Select recovery and the phone will boot in your recovery[TWRP or CWM]. You can either perform a full wipe of data and cache (all settings will be lost) or proceed straight away to Install Zip (from SD card) Choosing the latter will keep your settings and apps (I recommend this one for performing weekly friday updates). After selecting Install Zip choose Zip file on the SD card and the ROM will be flashed. When completed reboot the phone. Done!
http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=147927&extra=page%3D4&mobile=2 I know Google search does almost everything these days but in this flashing and tweaking thing, I prefer somebody directing me on how to do it. Then again I think you're talking about a different thing here. |

Kennydoc: Then your apps are gulping your data in the background. I've been using large screen phones since 2012. I've used HTC Desire, then Tecno Phantom and now Infinix Hot Note Pro. Go to "Settings" in your phone, select "Data Usage" and for each of the apps there, Click on "Restrict Background Data". Do that for the apps that consume your data the most. Also don't check apps like WhatsApp or Facebook app. If you do that, u won't receive notifications again except when you're online. I also have a feeling that playstore automatically updates ur apps regularly. That's also one of the things that consume people's data a lot. You should also check Playstore. Do these basic things and see ur 1gb data last you a whole month. I'm sure you'll come and thank me later. Why do I want to restrict background apps? So that I won't be getting my prompt notifications? Hell to the No. I normally check that background of a thing, All my apps normally take 2mb, 3mb,5, 6mb max and I don't think that's big enough. I think this background data eating up mb is a little exaggerated[it doesn't take as much data as ppl say]. As for play store, let me burst your balls cos the pic below shows how my settings has been ever since.

Kennydoc: Too much of online streaming, YouTube viewing, movies, music and games download are what consumes your data. I use 1gb in one month, and sometimes I even have to use it to download a movie on d last day of its validity just to exhaust it. You probably are the one using my phone for me cos I don't do any of these things you mentioned not to talk about doing them too much. If you use a small screen phone, maybe what you're saying about 1GB will be tenable but if you use my kind of phone, there's no chance. |

Hate it or Love it, this company MTN is not only the Bestest network in Nigeria but also the most generous, the kindest and above all, the widest connection with customer base that is bigger than all other networks joined together_ Implying it is MTN and others. Like the saying goes in my language "E kelee nwanyi akidi, ya agwotakwuo ozo". In a country where other networks are busy grabbing grabbing grabbing from the customers, this industry's giant is busy giving giving giving away. From constantly rewarding with freefall data to free credit, free sms, top notch connection always. Atimes I'll just check my balance and see extra N500 has been added, other times I get free mtn calls for 3 days, since this I've been on free sms, I don't know why. Atimes, I get rewarded with 1GB data and thanks for remaining with us sms that will accompany it(And I get these freebies frequently). Recently every body is enjoying unlimited mtn calls for just N40 daily. I can go on and on cos the list is endless. The best part is that this network is available even in the most remote areas of Ogaminana in Kogi state the same way and the same clear signals as you have in the Asokoro or Maitama districts of Abuja. If you're still there hating, better get off the beaten tracks Cos it gets better always. I'm sure most of you guys have your testimonies also. Let's hear them.!!! |

In as much as this makes sense, but then do we even have enough data to last through the validity period? unless you're on an unlimited plan which I don't know if anybody is. We should demand for more data in my opinion. I subscribe to 4.5GB but it has NEVER lasted the whole 30 days and I'm not a chronic user Cos there are other peeps that can finish it 5 days. |

Acidosis: There is nothing 'special' about the xiaomi note 2 aside the large screen (5.5 inches) & fast battery charging. In fact, the screen isn't even protected! Who buys a smartphone in this generation without a protected screen? so why pay 46k for such?
People should learn to do proper research before churning out cash. Why would someone ignore the likes of samsung galaxy mega, LG G3 or even HTC mini 2 for a 46k mtk meizu?
I understand the phones I listed are somewhat ''old'', however there are newer samsung, htc, lg, sony & motorola phones out there people rarely talk about because of the Tecno Camon, Infinix and Innjoo noise on Nairaland. And I think there's something special about Redmi Note 2, it rocks the latest Mediatek chipset Helio x10 64 bits clocked at 2.0GHz and 2.2GHz for the prime variant scoring over 49000 in Antutu benchmarks . This same Mediatek chipset is used in HTC M9. |

That screen protection is also an issue for me but you've not been able to come up with better alternatives. All the 3 Galaxy Mega are shiits. Low processor, 1.5GB ram on top Laggy Samsung Touchwiz, low screen resolution,they don't also have screens are not also protected. So, Xiaomi Note 2 beat all the Galaxy Mega hands down. You also mentioned LG G3, that one is and I love it but where can you find it? it's very scarce. Anywhere in Nigeria you see that phone, it's nothing less than 95k. Sony, for some reasons I don't like them. Loved Xperia z2 until I found out it takes over 3 hrs to charge. HTC is not really a big company, they are just like Xiaomi. Here are the only Samsung phones I can buy; the Note 4, S6, S6 Edge, Note 5 but I can't afford them at the moment. All other old Samsung phones are too slow for my liking. Finally I actually research about phones more than you do. |

Acidosis: about 80K So what are we talking about? It's more expensive than the Xiaomi we're discussing. Other phones you mentioned are also quite costly; Galaxy s5 is above 80k(with its CHEAP plastic body), S6 is lovely but above 120k, Galaxy Note 4 is also good but around 115k. The xiaomi Note 2 is 46k Max and you can't mention any Samsung , LG , HTC phone at that 46k price range that will beat it, can you? As for over 50k, forget it, I won't buy Xiaomi above that range. |
Phones › Re: Xiaomi Is The Apple Of China by donhils(op): 6:24pm On Sep 11, 2015 |
Acidosis: Expensive Chinese brand.
Why buy a Xiaomi, One Plus 2, and the likes when you can purchase a (Samsung galaxy S5, S6, Galaxy Alpha, HTC M8, M9, HTC Desire Eye) at the same and even lesser prices?
I almost f00lishly fell for a 70k Xiaomi, only to discover there are Samsung phones at same/relative prices with better, unique and enhanced spec. How much is HTC desire eye? |
