Oasis007:Must we pitch our tent with either of those guys?? Why don't we seek for better candidates? |
seankafor:That wasn't what I asked him, I asked him to tell us who he wishes and wants to be Nigeria's next president and his reason why. It's not okay to just be mocking those who are trying to engage in this and hope for the ultimate best for all of us. He's just deriving pleasure in the wickedness of all these politicians. That's not right. |
Unlimited22:That's what we should be clamouring for right now. Not coming here to joke and make jest of how these evil men are literally sharing our wealth incandescently before our eyes in the hope of going back there to eat more of our money and make matters much worse than it already is in the future. We need to spend the next few months energizing ourselves and those around us to utilize the power of our vote. I saw this thread below and I was boiling with anger. When will this stop? https://www.nairaland.com/7144459/see-these-pictures-plan-cause |
raumdeuter:All you keep doing is basking in the euphoria, derived from our hopelessness, of the sorrow and collective anguish Nigerians share over our disastrous leadership. Tell us dayo, who do you wish and support to be our next president and give reasons why. |
Itsrm:Seriously what the hell is wrong with you guys?? Like what the hell is REALLY wrong with you guys?? It is a known fact that across all social media platforms, Peter obi has the most organic (non-paid) supporters. The majority of youths support him. Do you know why? IDEALISM! Every single person knows that Peter obi did not have the ground game for this national ticket, because he is not one to steal public funds and use as the rest are doing. What his supporters aimed to do was recreate the national awareness across all platforms, from Whatsapp status to Twitter to Facebook, Instagram etc.. just as exactly was done during the endsars protest. An organic movement that transforms from the digital space to our reality. You could see me as one individual urging us to go and register to get our PVC. Peter obi is not a saint but he was certainly the best of the rest. An experienced leader, astute in communication, well rounded in leadership, economically astute and most importantly possessed the frugality desperately needed right now for government officials. Someone that has been in the system but NOT in the system. CANT YOU SEE? Just look at us, casually laughing away our future, making jest of how our politicians are looting and spreading our common wealth amongst themselves. See us laughing over politicians sharing 5 million naira per head, money we know, they will aim to recoup when they win and that CYCLE OF ENDEMIC CORRUPTION CONTINUES. We need something to give us hope, we can't just give in to the despair and hopelessness of our country not getting better. Who knows, if we rally very well, we might just come together and vote en masse for that strong third party and fade away these 2 evil parties. It seems like a pipe dream but we the youths have the numbers to do that. Less than 15 percent of the population voted in the last election. Let's bump that number up to 45% and see the magic that happens. |
Officially the end of the Roman empire. I want you guys to know that I have back tracked from my earlier hard stance position on Roman. I apologize for my extreme position on him. It was naive of me to think that there is a perfect human. My extreme reaction was brought upon by the shock of my findings of his horrible past. I had come to adore and love the man soo much, so when I discovered the skeletons he had, I guess it pushed me to the extreme. However there comes a time for introspection. Roman might have acquired his money "uncleanly" but there is no doubt that he put that money to very good use. One that has benefitted every single one of us here. One that has given us soo much joy and happiness and dedication to a club that we wouldn't have otherwise known. He was the best owner any team in the world could ask for, buying top notch players, setting very high standards of performance for everyone in the club, hiring the very best managers in the game and not relenting in paying them off once things went bad. We've seen soo many owners of clubs who ran their clubs soo badly that those clubs struggled to survive or perform well. Whenever we fell, Roman was there to make sure we rose to the highest levels again. He will be missed! No club owner will ever be able to fill his boots. CHELSEA IS ROMAN AND ROMAN IS CHELSEA. I wish him luck in his future endeavors.

Kimbeast:Which protection have been offered so far with the high gun ownership? Everyday we hear of how students are mass shooting their own classmates or citizens shooting themselves over paltry issues. This your type of mentality that has given rise to an unhealthy ownership of guns. Imagine citizens, even young ones being allowed to walk into any shop and buy an automatic rifle capable of firing 100 bullets in 30 seconds. An immediate weapon ban and stringent penalty for weapon dealers will bring this to a complete halt. In 15 years time, gun ownership will go from 65% to less than 5%. Guns are not needed in civilian hands. |
The way americans weirdly celebrate gun culture is baffling. Another day, another mass shooting. 18 year old boy go just enter supermarket, buy automatic rifle, enter him class, offload the bullet for him classmates and teacher. 18 pupils dead today. America for you.

airmark:Every single church is not only a tool of indoctrination but a financial tool of escaping poverty by the so called pastor. Every single pastor is in it for the money. |
BlueRayDick:I don't think this is true. But most importantly note that, IPOB was preceded by MASSOB. The groups were never violent in those early years. Things started going this way when they saw the success of Niger delta militants in using violent means to achieve success. |
Havertz10:You kwanu rest in jesus name, why you dey kill yourself over this Russia matter?? Give the whole thing time, let's see how it shapes out to be. See how you are soo eager to swallow anti-western propaganda. But if they ask you which country you prefer it's system of governance now and which country you prefer to be in, you go rush go western county. Get sense by force abeg. |
WhoDeyHause:This OPM guy is a master strategist. He has positioned his church as one of the best and benevolent in Nigeria, any news wey make waves, the man don use am to him advantage. I like this kind of propaganda sha. You make others rich while also accumulating wealth yourself. At least inspiring others to do the same.

BlueRayDick:Ipob is a political secessionist group that has its core ideology the belief that Nigeria is fundamentally not one country. You yourself share this same ideology and just repeated the same thing this night. I think it's unfortunate that the group has been hijacked by extremist forces but if you follow the history of the group, you will see it's not like that. I guess, along the way, they decided to copy the method used by nigerdelta militants which bore fruit. The Niger delta militancy was a struggle for better resource allocation for the people of the region. Ken Saro wiwa was one of the intellectuals who birthed the movement but when he was killed by the military government, the group increasingly became militant in nature and after more than 30 years, the struggle bore meaningful fruit. The share percentage in the allocation budget for their regions were increased and a whole ministry was formed. All the violent members were pardoned on the condition of laying down their arms through various amnesty programs. I will never support violent tactics but I'm trying to point out the evolution of the group and the possible logic of it's transmogrification from an agitation group to a violent one. But let's not in all these, forget the core ideology behind the group, the division of this country into separate regions just like it was originally. I'm sure that's something we all agree on. |
The pace of this thread is overwhelming. An average of 10 pages a day, not sure any thread moves as fast. To lend my voice to what Jude said recently, no one should come here and start threatening about what should be posted here or not. This thread is certainly one of the best and most exposed thread on nairaland. I was very surprised to know that 4 popular influential Chelsea fan accounts on Twitter were Nigerians. Cfcmod, Vince, cfcdaily and absolute Chelsea. These are massive accounts with close to 400k followers, One of them once shared a screenshot of our discussion on this very thread and that was when I knew exactly how massive and wide reaching this thread and by virtue nairaland is. If you see a particular conversation that does not interest you, please scroll past! Along the line you will see the one that does, don't interfere in other people's Convo only to tell them to stop conversing. The thread is now accepted as a bullwark of all information. Everything is fair game for discourse here. |
This thread sef. Just one page alone, 5 different topics. ![]() You open a page, first comment na Guardiola matter, under am, the next post na Russia matter, under am the next post na Chelsea matter, under am, na naija politics, the next one na religious issue etc etc. person go just dey confuse to follow conversation.General market thread indeed! ![]() |
Jodera:Where is the insult?? |
Jodera:Please don't lose sight of initial point, so that we don't keep diverting. My bone of contention initially is not even from the standpoint of judging the action but knowing whether rightfully describing a person's actions qualifies one to be killed. I don't know if you understand? Sleeping with a child is called pedophilia and rape. This point is not debatable. We're not arguing the morality or the judgement here. Just naming an action. Or is there something else we should call it? I mean if someone did take something that didn't belong to him which we know the name for that is theft. Should we be punished for rightly calling the offender a thief? |
raumdeuter:I answered your question. I will judge issues based on my own personal principles. Principles formed by research and keeping an open mind. Now enough of the questions, state your position. Clarify us on this Mohammed situation. Infact let's use an analogy, Let us finger a pulse as to where you stand. A man 2000 years ago likes to fvck animals. He gains a huge following and creates millions of people that like fvcking animals, centuries later, many societies now abhor such practices and you personally also abhor the practice. But his followers tell you it's wrong to call him an animal fvcker. Calling him an animal fvcker will cost you your head, how do you solve that problem. |
raumdeuter:Stop inventing your own narrative to make your point palatable. Who told you women who did not marry before 18 were outcasts? Determining age then sef was a problem because they didn't use Gregorian calendar. They mostly married the girl during or after puberty. Barely prepubescent. Slavery is BAD!!! I'm not arguing the legality but the morality. Slavery will always be bad, whether it was acceptable in that society or not. There were still some societies ahead of their time then who would tell you it was bad. The world wasn't a singularly. That something was done in ignorance doesn't exclude the offenders. |
raumdeuter:Yes, I'm judging them by my personal principles. One formed from being well researched. Humans are omnivores by nature, which means we are bound to eat meat. Which invariably means, we must kill animals. That is my personal principle and I'll apply that judgement to it anywhere. |
Jodera:I would say you are the one putting things out of context and conflating issues. My point has always been extremely simple. Mohammed had sex with a 9 year old. A prepubescent infant. That is pedophilia AND rape. That it happened years ago does not matter. It's still bad, worse is the fact people who idolize him are literally doing the same in this day and age. Look at this way, I'm certain that they're cultures in the past that were lenient with bestiality and may not have seen wrong in fvcking animals. I remember reading of an African culture where it was actually a right of passage to manhood for the males to fvck an animal, the word for that now is bestiality. Imagine people telling us we shouldn't criticize them because it was an acceptable practice for them and who knows, maybe one day science will tell us nothing is wrong with men fvcking animals. Is that not twisted? |
raumdeuter:I ask again, if certain people did some evil things many years ago in ignorance, does it mean, they should be free from condemnation?? So we shouldn't criticize our great grandfathers for murdering innocent babies because they were ignorant about it? |
Jodera:Scientific laws can NEVER change. What's established fact is established fact. The human body undergoes puberty from age 10 to age 16. Having sex with PREPUBESCENT is always bad. There is no context where such is good, not even with time. You can say they committed that evil in ignorance but that still doesn't exclude them from condemnation for their evil. Our great grand father's most likely murdered twins in Glee, that they did that in ignorance, doesn't mean we shouldn't condemn their actions. Evil is evil. |
donstan18:Dumbstan strikes again, the one and only donstupidity that we know. The one that relies on memes and gifs because he can't efficiently vocalize his thoughts. The simple minded dumbstan and nextd we know. Carry on with your stupidity. it's entertaining. |
Jodera:First of all, the question makes no sense because of its faulty premise. It's already an undoubtedly scientific evidence that even at 16, puberty is complete. Puberty starts at 10 and ends at 15 for both genders. That's a FACT! That cannot change. Secondly, I think you are conflating marriageable age with age of consent. I'm not particularly focused on Regina's age of marriage but on her capacity to give consent. Some countries have different marriageable age legally and different age of consent. For eg, England's marriageable age is 18 but age of consent is 15. Ie. If two 15 year old have sex,no prosecution but if a 25 year old has sex with a 15 year old. There's prosecution. But if any has sex with a prepubescent kid, that's RAPE. You are trying to divert the issue from that of the underage sex to that of underage marriage, but anyways, there is no where an adult marrying or having sex with a 9 year old is good. It has always been terrible, just done with ignorance. Lastly, important to note that never before have we (humanity) been more connected than before. Before You might have had some societies or traditions that were open to some vices and some that were against it. But this doesn't mean we should completely absolve the heinous acts that were committed, EVEN IF IN IGNORANCE. killing babies was EVIL, even if it happened 500 years ago. Having sex with 9 year olds was EVIL even if it happened 1 million years ago. Bad is bad.
|
Jodera:18 years old is the agreed upon age for adulthood worldwide. at that age, you have attained a consciousness of self, most parts of your body stops developing and starts aging. Your brain reaches peak development. You can become independent in your own and face the realities of life without a guardian. |
Ellexy:3 gbosa for you. A very solid response. "Respecting" one's belief means accepting the further degeneration and instability of our society. This means an assurance of the continued suffering of the minorities in those regions. Then one asks, why are we still pretending to be one country?? The basic advantage of being in a country, is the right of unrestricted movement of goods and people. It means you can go to anywhere in your country and still feel at home. An American can move from newyork to Los Angeles and not see any shift in culture. A British can move from London to Yorkshire or Liverpool and still feel very welcome. A shared sense of brotherhood and patriotism. But in this country, you move from south to north to study in the university, you appeal to classmates to stop diverting the WhatsApp group from it's purpose and off your head goes with the amoto's gleefully cheering you on. It's saddening. |
Jodera:In this case, Daniels is an adult who has reached a decision making age and can give consent. Her organs are all fully developed and ready for sexual intercourse. Nothing wrong here. Nb; on a personal note, I'm not too comfortable with that much age gap but as I said, they are both adults capable of making their personal decisions, so nothing is wrong. |
