I am currently planning to get married. I’ve been with my babe for about a year now.

After several consultations, we agreed on a wedding budget of about 3 million Naira.

But I keep asking myself one very honest question: how do I commit that kind of money to someone who hasn’t really shown the same level of effort back, even in something as small as 5k, despite earning a little?


Asin, I never smell her 5k since we started dating.


At this point, it’s not even about the money anymore. It’s about intention, balance, and simple acts of kindness.

Even on my birthday, I didn’t receive a gift from her, and that stayed with me more than I expected.

I’ve never had to deliberately test her money, because genuine care and small acts of giving usually show themselves naturally over time.

To be clear, I’ve been carrying most of the financial weight in this relationship, and there’s hardly anything tangible she has ever done for herself without at least my 50% contribution since we met.

I don’t complain, but I also don’t want to ignore what I’m seeing.

As a responsible man, I’m trying to be honest with myself before I take a step I can’t easily undo.

So I want to ask people who are married or have real experience: if I go ahead and marry in a relationship where this is the current dynamic, what should I realistically expect in marriage?

I’m not trying to assume the worst, but I also believe experience speaks louder than hope.

I’ve always wondered about the Biafra secession discussion. Some supporters seem to believe that independence would automatically lead to a better life, but looking at the economic, political, and security realities of creating a new country, it also seems like it could come with very serious short- to medium-term hardship.
At the same time, if a significant number of people truly want to leave, it makes me wonder why the Nigerian government is strongly opposed to letting them go. Is it about national unity, economic interests, geopolitical risks, or something else?
I also sometimes wonder whether political and business elites from the region are more cautious about secession than ordinary supporters because they better understand the possible economic consequences.
For those who support Biafra and those who oppose it: What do you realistically think would happen in the first 5–10 years if secession actually happened? Would life truly improve, or would the transition be much harder than people expect?

Nigerian can beg, they'll beg you from the airport. It is so embarrassing. Even workers at the airport beg, I had to caution them when I was departing nigeria. Many the idlers at the airport are theives who have no business at the airport, yet the corrupt system allow them. I have been to several African countries, never will you see urchins waiting at the airport as is done in nigeria

5 Ways To Make The Best Use Of Your Time At NYSC Camp

Happy Sunday everyone, in this post we will be sharing on the best use of your, one in a life time camp activities. If you think about that for a minute alone, you will know it is not worth it complaining all through this one time experience

We will focus on group & activities that can make the NYSC Orientation Camp worth it, as you can get you connection for relocation, money, posting & particularly time away the sunny parade ground

Three weeks “orientation” period spent in a military-controlled boot “camp” away from family & friends, can be nothing but a beginning of many things for you, if you join places to increase your luck

1. Join the important groups

It is one thing to be in camp, it is another to be part of the important activities

a. Join OBS
The Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) is a great way to serve while in the camp. A very important unit of the camp, it will offer you opportunities to not only develop your editorial & media skills, you will get to know the key officers in the camp. It also gives you a measure of authority & allows you to get an exemption from some of the camp activities which you may be averse to

b. Join Man o war
They are the special squad that welcomes dignitaries to the camp, after the quarter guards have saluted them, they are also rewarded for this duty and can keep you away from the sun on the parade ground
That are likewise trained to lead the fellow platoon members in man o war activities, it is not a serious work like that, you will have fun singing, dancing & jumping

c. Quarter guard & parade leader
This is not always fun, but if you have experience with matching before, it will be easy for you. You can get connected if you excel also at this

d. NCCF/Muslim Corpers Exco
The whole essence of all this group is been active and there is no other place your been active can be rewarding than in your religious setting executive team

2. Run a small business
You can actually make money while at the orientation camp. You can offer services such as hair dressing or laundry to others in the camp who need them for a fee or you can rent a stall at the Mami market and sell food items which most corpers need from day to day. It is a great way to hone your business skills before you are launched into the labour market

3. Do an online course
The orientation period does not have to be all activities and socializing, you can further develop yourself on the side by registering and going through a short online course during your stay. The good thing about online learning is that it is flexible so you can actually plan it around the time that you will be leaving the camp

4. Socialize and actually meet new people
The NYSC scheme was originally established to encourage oneness among citizens in the country & promote national unity. By sending these individuals to other states, the expectation is that they mix with people of other tribes, social & family backgrounds and learn the culture of the indigenes in the place they are posted. Rather than sticking to yourself all through the orientation process, use your spare time to actually fraternize and get to know the people in your platoon & camp as a whole. You would be surprised how many new things you will learn about Nigeria & what connections you may make for the future

5. Start applying for jobs/Publish project
The orientation period is not too early a time to start sending out your CVs to potential employers. The NYSC orientation can actually serve as an avenue for corpers to share job information and career resources, so take advantage of that and start early. No better time to publish your work. It always come out helpful

Note: that many of the camp officials you see are NYSC staff, that person might be your LGI, assistant LGI or something. So be nice to them, and be on the lookout for good PPA opportunities
