Rapture issues aren't subject to divinatory arts. Jesus himself said "no man knows the hour, nor the day; not even the angels with the Father"!

rusher14: There was a golden age of religion in this period a certain JD Rockefeller existed. Similar to the thread here on Nairaland showcasing the religiosity of Mrs Alakija was this the Lord's doing? Was this as a result of her exceptional ability to research, bargain, concede or coerce?
Rockefeller the "Christian" was involved in a monopoly trade. His business was restrictive to the common man. As a result his company was fragmented after a supreme court anti-trust ruling.
Society did not gain anything by having a Rockefeller. Just as society does not gain anything by having Its role or Alakija.
Note I do not begrudge them their earnings. My contribution is how society enriches itself by eschewing superstition/religion. By embracing logic and hard work. Enough with waiting for heavenly blessings. Heavenly blessings are individualistic. The people of Norway, Germany etc are not waiting for heaven to move them ahead. You certainly have a problem with religion or religious people. Got nothing to do with logic or hardwork. Yea right, society didn't gain anything? As in, he employed no labour? The trains he kept in business didn't have employees who earned wages? Those who built the pipes for conveying oil weren't paid right? He created no employment? A society enriches itself by first prioritizing correctly: a Nigeria for instance should put education, health, agriculture and then infrastructure in top priority. But no, they'd rather vote billions for arms which will later be siphoned so as to perpetrate themselves in power. The countries you mentioned didn't get it right by eschewing religion. NO. They first had a vision and then prioritized correctly. Those guys crossing from one party to another have no vision or ideology. In fact I think politicians should learn from churches like Winners, Christ Embassy and RCCG that demonstrate high level of accountability, evidenced by the clear pursuit of vision and demonstration of great faith resulting in the outstanding results they have. By the way, see the pic below, since I'm not sure our home based "enlightened" folk love research as much as they claim. rusher14: The data is drawn from even the quote we started with. The rapid industrialization across all continents coincided with the death of superstition and the embrace of logic, facts and figures.
The Catholic church almost made us believe the earth was the centre of the universe but science prevailed. Rainbows are considered a sign relating to a biblical flood yet any water fountain you see would create a spectrum of various colours.
I know, the African mind cannot accept that its old wornout method simply does not work. Nations are leaving us behind. They are extending their expectancy. They are creating offsprings with IVF while the religious house gets the credit.
They have begun the journey to other planets and one day they would get in contact with other being, same as they came in contact with us just a few centuries ago.
Friend, you are free to deny all this. There is freedom of choice. It doesn't change the tried and tested. Go read about one of the fathers of America's Industrialization and capitalism- Rockefeller. One of America’s greatest philanthropists, a dedicated Christian who read his bible daily, prayed daily and paid tithes. http://www.valuesandcapitalism.com/the-men-who-built-america-john-d-rockefeller-s-faith/ |

rusher14: If it was a Venn diagram it would be a very small section. What facts or empirical data are you using for your Venn diagram? Religion brought education into this country. The schools were left to the state governments and they failed. Religious organizations picked them up again and raised the standard again. A dull brian is a dull brian... don't blame religion. I've already dealt with that issue here... https://www.nairaland.com/4380139/daysman-oyakhilome-bags-nelson-mandela#65555344 |

Embrace logic, eschew superstition. Adopt hard work and see the nation prosper. You guys pretend as though you can't find folks with logic and yet much religion. |

yeyerolling: so u think pple from the poor regions wont flood the rich regions For example lag dey we send non indigines packing or wat. All we need is a leader in the mould of ghadaffi or mao zedong of china. Restruxturing cant achieve nothing in nigeria From the bolded, I can see you do not understand what political restructuring is. The various regions will look inwards to discover their competitiveness and that could even bring development to the hitherto poor regions. E.g.. when a processing factory is sited in an agrarian community. Whereas the state government could have been waiting for allocation from Federal government. |

Jones4190: China is currently the world's leading economic power, in China there is Zero Church!
Finland has the most stable economy in the world today. There are less than twenty churches in Finland!
Switzerland has the second most stable economy in the world. Switzerland has fewer than thirty churches!
Denmark is the third most stable economy in the world, there are about 23 churches in Denmark.
These countries are considered to have the highest number of atheists, but they are blessed!
Come to Nigeria, there are more than 50,000 churches. +25 000 churches in Lagos. +2 500 churches in Oyo
In Africa, we have more churches than schools and hospitals combined! More pastors than doctors. Everyone is born again!o Everyone is covered with the blood of Jesus! Jesus even became the husband of all single women (according to them) in revival churches! Everyone is filled with the Holy Spirit! However, none of these claims reflect the moral elevation that is hoped for in a society.
We are among the laziest, the most deceiving, the most corrupt, the most hypocritical, the most hateful on the planet today, with all our Jesus and the Holy Spirit!
Our people need to distinguish between religion and stupidity or between spirituality and tradition!.
Wake up!!! So what's your opinion about the decamping? Or you just came to vent your frustrations and hatred for the church? |

yeyerolling: restructuring is a scam. The same politicians wud administer it. Take more loans and chop the money But at least they'll be closer to their people who will know exactly where to direct their frustrations. Restructuring is the platform from which we can begin the process of recovery. Not this system that favours lazy regions at the expense of others. |

contigiency: The issue here is that senator Abaribe was just eager to stand and say that Mr President is incompetent so that they will say he is vocal. I thought he was going to suggest a way out of the problem. A way out begins with acknowledging the incompetence and failure of those saddled with the responsibility of the security of our country and reprimanding them or showing them the way out. |

May God give you more energy to shave all their hairs.
No responsible male student carries bushy hair or dreadlocks. I stand to be corrected. Technically speaking; a bushy haired student is a blockhead because the hair prevents wisdom from reaching their brain.
Shame on any parent whose son has a bushy hair. My own Dad carried bushy hair but was a first class grad from University of Ibadan. The best graduating student from the animal science department. This trend of perverts hiding under the guise of "discipline" to carry out their nefarious activities must stop. |

CodeTemplar: How come the undisputed number one private uni ranks 7th on fee scale. It is four times cheaper than some other universities yet arguably better. People should learn to appreciate what's good. I just finished checking the website of the number one federal uni in Nigeria and I was disappointed at what I saw. The site looks like the average Nigerian hustle blog and yet the FG subsidizes undergrads of that uni with hundreds of thousand per year. Nigerans and crowd mentality are truly like 5 & 6. Covenant University is 8th position. These critics pretend to fight for the people in their criticism but only the wise can see they are controlled by the antichrist spirit. |
