Hello my great Nairalander.... Please I want a suggestion based on the quotation my carpenter sent to me for the roofing beam, paraphet and roofing woodwork for a 4unit of 2 bedroom flat, 2 units each of 2bedroom flat up and down. The building is I think 22.5m by 11m. I noticed my carpenter fee has been on the high side from his previous work for me when I made some consultations, so I got another carpenter to also make a quotation. And the difference in the quotation still showed how much his mouth has gotten wide to But please I need your opinion should as what the base of my negotiation price should be for the quotations below. Thanks in advance the great nairalanders

Hello everyone, I need expert advice on setting up a palm oil mill in preferably Ondo state as it’s closer to Lagos where I reside: I will be needing the advice on : -The preferable town to set up the plant I.e closer to the plantation -How to get suppliers of fresh fruit brunch in this location and probably incentive to be able to get as much as possible if need be -Estimated cost of the equipment that I would need to start up the mill - how to get qualified mill operators in this area and how they are been paid and any incentive if need be also -How to get the distributor/truck driver of the product .
I am ready to pay for the service as long as I know you’re an expert in the field either by having a palm mill plant or having worked in a palm mill plant in this location. Thanks |

With that said, @donkelz shouldn’t see this as an avenue to bury this matter but to seek apology to the good people of this forum and also do the needful. In as much as we want to try to make Nigeria a better society it begins with all this little things to make it better. |

My number is on my signature, please send me a message and also mention me with a word.
When you eventually get the oil, you can pay and let's just move on.
Thanks. This a high spirit of kind gesture and a good exemplary conduct to others. May God bless you sir. |

twinskenny: i am still wondering how Q.S will fit in as an Engr.... If at one point he studied it and always going to site with an engineer , I don’t see no reason why he shouldn’t be able to build a storey building though after 30yrs years in working experience. Well I still did be getting an engineer soon but o stand to be corrected though if I am wrong. |

QSFemi: Smile. How did you know engineer don't like QS to be on site? Yes, it seemed so from the situation with the engineer because he made mention of the fact that, it was when the Q.S came to site my dad started having trouble with him for whatever reason he felt he was the only one who could understood or any fellow engineer which didn’t really make much sense to me. I just had to let him go because he was not been direct when I was trying to make amicable peaceful coexistence between them because he seem not to be comfortable working further while the Q.S was still around the site and I obviously can’t tell the Q.S to leave. Maybe if you an engineer you could understand what he was going through his head , but for me as a layman I don’t get the point because it wasn’t meaningful to me. |

topsy23: Boss, the work of QS is to prepare BILL OF QUANTITY, visit site to do some measurement during valuation and also prepare variations bow on any projects. Most of QS do not have the real understanding of services work(I mean electrical and mechanical work ). They normally have a lot of omissions and all these leads to additional works /variations. Hmm... You’re indeed right even though I know the Q.S still have some basic experience on construction building because so far he’s helped with the column construction and the slab would soon be done. But as you mentioned as the area for electrical ,plumbing and even the setting out I did still need an engineer at least to be rest assured. And by this I am open to one and if I can get any on the forum, with the necessary certification and location of the site is at ipaja so should be accessible for whoever is interested too. |

donkelz: Good evening NL. @udysweet, I appreciate your maturity and in truth, I've not kept in touch with you due to locations I go to get oil. You're the second client NL gave me and would have been a major reference point for other clients if not for the way and manner issues cropped up. For the records, we agreed to do business of 7 Rubbers of oil, to be sent to you in Lagos. As at this period, Fresh Grade A oil was going for 8500 a rubber, transportation was 1200 per rubber via haulage services to Lagos. We agreed and transacted. Unfortunately, within two days of transaction, oil began a dramatic increase in price that lasted through July till now in Akwa Ibom. This forced me to seek an alternative mill to meet up your delivery. Eventually, I personally supervised the milling of 4 rubbers and sent to you and paid for the other three rubbers to be milled. Few days later, precisely 5 days after, I returned to the woman who owns the Mill to ask for the oil, only to be told that their mill had technical issues and all the oil she had, has been bought, no problem, oya refund me the money I gave you, she pleaded that I should be patient that she's used the money to buy certain parts needed to fix her mill. I was mad, but kept quiet, this proved to be my first major challenge after entering this business. This same woman has kept dribbling me, especially last weekend, after she called me to come, only to give me stale oil with water underneath.
I am saying this here for posterity sake, what I make in this business is turnover, little profits from organizing sales between mills and customers. I am not a big oil merchant, but I pride myself in sourcing quality, which @udysweet and any other person who has done business with me can attest to. I have thought of arresting this woman, but an Alhaji friend and also her customer pleaded with me to exercise patience, as long as the woman doesn't have money, it's a waste of time, milling and farming is her source of livelihood and her machine is apart.
Good news is that I have teamed up with a financier to finance Kedar Resources(my business name) for agribusiness and like I told you @udysweet, I will personally bring that remaining batch to you in Lagos, at no extra cost to you whatsoever. In a few days, partnership agreements will be signed and steps will be taken from there. I only beg you, please exercise some patience with me, everything will be resolved very soon. I'll chat you today.
I am writing this here, in reply to what you wrote and also as a notification to you, that Kedar Resources isn't dubious, i started this business with no capital whatsoever and like I said earlier on, I am bringing the oil myself, as soon as my finances is sorted out, to straighten out issues and build that trust back.
@donparosky, I hope to meet you soon and talk more extensively on how to deal with challenges bedeviled in this business. I need your number too.
Thanks everyone, Kedar Resources will soon be a brand. We are breaching the gap! You should do very well to make up for what you have done for @udysweet. Imagine several referrals you could have got if you could have solve things amicably with her and even on here. I was even intending to reach out to you if I could ask for few stuffs about this biz and order from you but with this issue, I would rather not even venture into the business than transact with you before I hear story that touches the heart. This are what negative ratings can go as far and say about your business and I am very sure this applies to most people’s mindset. Fix it!!! |

He admitted that he used my money to take care of his father's burial. There's nothing in his account now, per his bank statement we obtained. I'll make sure he coughs the money. MrOkenwa: I promised to give my review after placing order for Aluminium windows from Adedward, for my Low budget bungalow in Abeokuta. So, today has been very eventful at my site as he's presently installing the windows and at the same time installing the Aluminium long span roof. All I can say is that Adedward is a perfect gentleman. His charges are highly competitive and very flexible. I changed my windows’ design midway into the job and he tagged along. I later contracted the Aluminium roofing job to him, as elders will say, one good turn deserves another. More importantly, he didn’t fall sick nor go into COVID-19 self isolation after collecting my hard earned money. He delivered my job as promised, without setting his eyes on me ‘cos I’m not in Nigeria. My review is 5 star. Caveat: I’m just a satisfied customer sharing my experience about him. Due diligence is still very important, as it’s always being advised here. Is this person on this forum ? |

GoodFaith: A standard four flat and standard roof of 12ft or 14ft Hight is about 375 watch out roofer will give 400 to 525 measurement that can increase your cost from 200k to 500k If you can get a roofer and make it clear You will pay a fee for measurement that you already have somebody to do the work Call five roofers for measurement --Your eye will open Thank you very much I will definitely make sure I cut all ridiculous expenses by even bringing it on here when it gets to that time. So finally we let go the site engineer after several attempt to restore peace between my dad and him, he(my dad) accused the engineer of trying to frustrate him because he didn’t give the avenue for the engineer to rip him off and when I got to hear from the engineer’s side of the story he said my dad started behaving this way to him ever since he brought his QS to site who happens to be his childhood friend and he(the engineer) said the QS is going behind his back to condemn his work to my dad which I feel is just an overreaction from him ... And the reason we had to bring in the QS in the first place is because the engineer barely even have time to come to the site because he’s working for a company , all he just does is come to site once a while to supervise the work and see if the workers did what he asked of them to do. Well it’s a long story, but to cut it short . The QS who happens to have about 30+ yrs of experience(which could be true because I see he’s actually good at his QS thing) is now working together with my dad to continue but still I feel I need the presence of an engineer to do supervision and I want to ask , is it advisable if I should get another site engineer and at this point? And if I can should I just pay the engineer per day since I don’t think I would be needing him to be present everyday just some selected days where it’s important ,like to do the slab, column ,roofing and main works like that. Please I need your suggestion as we are already at the stage where we will soon need to cast the slab. |

Oliran: P&T Boy's Town is not yet free, the land is said to belong to Nitel. Though we heard they've resolved it in court in favour of the Omo Onile. But until Gazette is released, no property in that Estate can be granted approval.
I digress, LASBCA now request for letter of Authorization to Commence construction, that's where you will be nailed despite not giving approval. And when your site is sealed for residential it's 400,000. 250,000 for contravention fee and 150,000 for unsealing fee.
Send me a DM. Okay ... can I have your digit to text you on whatapp ma’am |
