Even the two apc senators from delta voted yari but why would he dare go against akpabio? He seems like the most popular from esan followed by hon okojie.imuse is loyal to oshio but I don't know how strong he is while osunbor is old and outdated.hon idahosa will make a fine running mate
Buhari was old before he became President. Tinubu was old before he was elected in February and Atiku may likely contest in 2027. So I don't think age matters here so far he has something to offer.

Long time baba. I've still been around, observing from afar.

It seems the Senator voted against Akpabio during the Senate Presidential tussle so I doubt if Oshiomhole would consider him. But anything can happen in politics. Oshiomhole may likely go for Imuse or any other person from Edo Central but I'll prefer Osunbor.

You're in support of the opposition Senators because of the woto woto Keyamo dished out to Obidense during the campaign. Lol. It's understandable though but he will be screened and confirmed.

They have a valid reason of not confirming him as a minister, if only they can stand their ground.
Most of them are being partisan. He would be cleared. Opposition Senators are against his nomination while the ruling party's Senators are in support. When they put the motion to voice vote, the nays were louder than the ayes so he may likely be cleared.

Whats the reason the lawmaker from Abia do not want keyamo to be confirm as a minister?
He claimed he disregarded the 9th National Assembly when he refused to show up to address them when he was called upon to account for the 52 billion naira allocated for the 774,000 jobs under his Ministry.

BREAKING: The senate is currently in a rowdy session over a motion seeking to step down the screening of Festus Keyamo as miniterial nominee.

Darlington Nwokocha representing Abia central, moved a motion on Monday when Keyamo appeared before the lawmakers.

Darlington Nwokocha (Abia Central) raised a point of order relying on Section 88 of the Constitution and moved a motion asking the Senate to step down the screening of Mr Keyamo on the ground that he ignored the invitation of the National Assembly in 2020 when he was minister to explain the issue of public.

Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA, Abia South) seconded the motion. This nominee rejected the summons of both the House of Representatives and the Senate pending when this National Assembly has that right to summon a minister and further enquiries made.

Senate is in rowdy session over the motion on the suspension of the nomination of Mr Keyamo’s screening. Some are shouting yes while others are shooting no after Mr Akpabio put the motion to vote.

Some of the senators are whispering in the ear of the senate president while others are standing up protesting that the nomination of Mr Keyamo be suspended.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio stood up from sit and cited Order 62 of the Senate allowing all the senators to calm down. When the senators were calm, the Senate President said a lot of things were considered before nomination of Mr Keyamo.

The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved a motion that the Senate moved into a closed session and seconded by the Minority Leader, Simon Mwadkwom.

At 2:00 p.m, the Senate President directed that the Senate should go into closed-door session and ordered Mr Keyamo to step out of the chamber.

President Tinubu shouldn’t have succumbed to the people opposing Shetty. There is nothing on earth you can do that will please everybody, he should have just leave Shetty to continue.

Only God know how the Shetty lady will be feeling now. It’s even better they don’t announce her in the first place.

I hope all the Arewa youth condemning the nomination of Shetty are now happy.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila has just arrived the Senate floor to submit the second batch of Ministerial nominee list.

Details later.

Gbajabiamila Submits Tinubu’s Supplementary Ministerial List To Senate

The Chief of Staff to President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has submitted President Bola Tinubu’s supplementary ministerial list to the Senate.

The immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives submitted the second list with the second batch of ministerial nominees to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at exactly 03:17pm.

Akpabio is expected to unveil the additional nominees of the President after the screening of the 28 nominees in the first batch.

Already, the Senate has screened the 28 nominees in the first batch.

Gbajabiamila had last Thursday submitted the first list with 28 nominees to the red chamber and said more names would be forwarded to the upper chamber.

Those screened on Wednesday are Dele Alake, Lateef Fagbemi and Muhammad Idris, Ali Pate and Doris Uzoka.

The Senate had on Tuesday screened nine nominees and adjourned the exercise till Wednesday. Those screened on Tuesday are ex-governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna) and Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); Wale Edun, Uche Nnaji, Stella Okotete, Adebayo Adelabu, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Hannatu Musawa, and Musa Dangiwa.

The upper chamber had on Monday screened 14 of the 28-man list of ministerial nominees forwarded by the President last Thursday.

Those screened on Monday include former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike; Abubakar Kyari from Borno State; Nkiruka Onyejeocha (Abia State); Bello Muhammad (Sokoto State); Sani Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State); and Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa State).

Others are Joseph Utsev (Benue State), Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (Ondo State), Betta Edu (Cross River State), Uju Kennedy Ohaneye (Anambra State), Abubakar Momoh (Edo State), John Enoh (Cross River State), Iman Suleiman Ibrahim (Nasarawa State), and Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (Bauchi State).

Section 147 (3) of the 1999 Constitution mandates the President to appoint at least one minister from each of the 36 states. However, 11 states – Adamawa, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kano, Kebbi, Kogi, Lagos, Osun, Yobe, Plateau and Zamfara — and the Federal Capital Territory don’t have ministerial nominees yet.

Umahi knew he was going to lose the seat to Linus Okorie of Labour Party, that’s why he lobbied vigorously for the ministerial position.

He has a very bad case at the tribunal because he didn’t win but INEC declared him.

Same thing applies to many other APC National Assembly members from Ebonyi.
If after all Umahi did for the good people of Ebonyi State, they could still - allegedly - vote for someone else when same Umahi was on the ballot; then your people are not ready for good governance. It's unfortunate.
