KSU Strike Suspended, Lectures Resume 27th
April.
Students of Kogi State University (KSU) can
heave a sigh of relief as the school chapter of
ASUU agreed to suspend the 2 month strike
action embarked upon to press their demands
from the state government to implement an
agreement reached with them in 2009.
This suspension is coming on the heels of an 48
hrs ultimatum issued by the student union
government to the warring lecturers and state
government. This suspension is coming few
hours to the expiration of the ultimatum.
An adjusted academic calendar has been
released by the school authorities and lectures
will resume on Monday, 27th April, 2015.
Speaking with Kogireports, the SUG
spokesperson, Comrade Victory Anselm expressed
satisfaction with the latest development.
"On this note, students are re-affirming their
solidarity and confidence in the Vice Chancellor,
Prof Hassan Isah for his prompt response to our
call for an immediate resolution to the logjam",
he said.

Students of the University yesterday went on a
peaceful demonstration, blocking the entrance
through the University main gate. Motorist on
Anyigba-Ankpa road where held up for about 3 - 4
hours. The purpose, according to some of the
students, was to express their disappointment over
the inability to suspend the ongoing strike action
by ASUU.
However, according to a member of the Union,
after the meeting held by ASUU yesterday, it was
resolved in principle to suspend the strike action,
subject to release of fund by the State
Government. That they are ready to resume work
immediately the fund is release to them.

Yesterday students Of kogi state university marched to protest over the 1 month long strike embarked on by theAsuu chapter of KSU.the ASUU chapter met yesterday and promised to call off the strike as soon as the government gives them the money they are requesting for.the students decided to protest because they became tired of the numerous meetings embarked on by ASUU and the state government which has not produced the desired result.They blocked the gate of the school and refused to let vehicles pass through.student leaders have slated Wednesday for another protest which will be done in the kogi state capital lokoja.

the ASUU chapter of kogi state university has decided to continue the strike which they embarked on for more than a month until their demands are met.students of KSU are angry and are already protesting.the most unfortunate thing is that this has been ignored by the media.they don't share info regarding the schools strike and they have shown indifference towards it.I would like to use this medium to plead with all stakeholders in the education sector and the federal government to come to the aid of the students.other schools are already in 2nd semester and KSU is still backward in its academic calendar.pls help
