I'm guessing mata was useless without the ball the years he won those awards, he isn't messi but he was your messi then, the things chelsea achieved those years were solely because of mata, he played a very big role in that team

How many defensive work does silva or ozil do for their team? What they can't do at the back, they do at the front... it's the coach's job to complement the team and give it the right balance, there's no reason to justify mata's sale, if you feel there still is, then hazard should be sold

out of everyone in that defence, smalling/mcnair have the best chance under LVG. jones & rojo are 2nd class citizens unless mcnair stops performing!

True, but mcnair(a 20 year old) cannot and will not man our defence ahead of jones, Rojo and blind, smalling and jones are our best pairing at CB, hurts me to admit it but it's the truth, McNair will only come in when two of those players are injured and we are short of options and of course cup games

Smalling is your best pure defender. . . . his sense of danger is one of the best I've ever seen. . . but his passing is still almost at semi-pro level.

He's arguably the best defender in the league, with a little more work I believe he's going to grow into being one of the best in the world

In a starting 11 you cant tell me having 1 youth starting and another youth playing Mikel minutes would suddenly make your team go from 1st to 9th

Last season By March you were already coasting to the league what stops the coach from dropping the stable players in a game to test some youth even if he is risk averse

I gave a scenario last week in a crucial CL game Pep dropped Robben and started Coman. Of course Coman didnt play to the level a Robben would but he gained experience and in 3yrs time might be the new Robben thus saving us the spending 100M or more depending on the new rate on an elite WInger

Would that single Coman make our 11 players go from 100% performance to 50%. He was played on the wings in a not risky role

Same thing was done to Alaba as a 17yr old starting a crucial CL game in Florence

I said 9 of your starters were bought less than 4 yrs ago yet some posters are already like Costa is a fraud, Fabregas is not deserving, Baba isnt up to grade. These are players bought a yr ago
