How much do you have left to complete the payment?
I have N4,000,000 left.

I paid N4,000,000 out of N8,000,000

PuZZyNegro:
We all should learn from this. First of all, you don't have any reason to take the car to the owner for inspection on a higher purchase deal. His stake is to be getting his money weekly.

Secondly, when you know you're dealing with a demon, you have to come to the dinning table with a long spoon 🥄

If you can, borrow money and pay up the outstanding amount to the owner of the car. If he claims that it's because you defaulted, tell him you're ready to pay him up outrightly and take a full possession of the car. You can then pay the loan with interest as agreed with the lender.

Those of us that only have to worry about car maintenance don't know the less worry we have.
Your are right about the fact I was not supposed to take the car for inspection as it was nowhere written in the agreement.

The soldier he used convinced me that other cars have been coming for the inspection and it will be done every 2 months.

Because I was not on any default, I didn't suspect anything.

Borrowing money to pay the man off would have been the best, but the thing is I have no where to get such amount of loan.

What exactly did your partner complain of , what's his reasons for not giving you the car back.
He's telling everyone that I have been defaulting.

Whereas am not owing him. I started paying 29th July 2024 and my last payment was Monday 7th of July 2025. I have paid N80,000 for 50 weeks making a total of N4,000,000 before the car was retrieved last week Thursday.

I have all my receipts for the 50 weeks payment which I have arranged in a PDF file for anyone to verify my claim.

Good morning brothers.

I have been running up and down on this matter.

I went to the military police office on that Monday.

Before I got there, they have already discussed with the soldier that seized my car

What they told me is that I should go and find the man I signed agreement with and settle with him, that is not the soldier that gave me car.

They were protecting the soldier, like they didn't see anything wrong in him seizing the car from me.

Meanwhile, yesterday my lawyer still called and spoke with my partner and the man told the lawyer that he can't give me back the car.

Now, my lawyer have decided to petition AIG zone 2.

He will prepare the letter this morning immediately he gets to the office. He said for the letter to be approved in zone 2 is N50,000 and I will pay for mobilisation, he has not told me the amount for mobilisation.

So that's is the current situation of things as at this morning.

Please o, anyone that have link to any car I can get to hustle make una link me up.

I need to be working and getting some money while this case is going on.

HP deal can be traumatizing tbh, I think at this point, you need to act fast.

goto the barrack where the car was retrieved from you and approach their provost, tell them you want to lay formal complaint against a military officer, narrate everything to them in details and let them know you have the agreement form you signed with your partner and you haven't breached any clause in the agreement.

They will ask for the soldier details and probably your partner details, drop everything to them.

Pls keep us updated and i pray everything turns out well for you.
Okay, thanks for this suggestion.
I will explore this as well. I'm waiting for my lawyer response later this evening as he wants to speak with the man first before we take further actions.

I currently do not have access to my phone, so, from everything you have been saying, does that mean the man retrieved the car cox of the inspection he introduced which you weren't aware of or any other reason you think might have caused that?
As I write this, I have not been able to speak directly with the man neither has he replied any of my Whatsapp messages since Thursday.

The soldier that took the key from me is the only one talking to me on Whatsapp and no reason has been given as why the car was retrieved.

Initially the soldier said, the man told him I defaulted in payment, when I showed him all the payment receipt I sent to the man including this week Monday payment, he was convinced I didn't default.

But, the man himself has refused to talk to me.

Omoapena:
From everything you have said, if it's true you haven't defaulted and you haven't breached any clause in the agreement, then your partner is just being greedy and just want to retrieve the car.

Was the car Tokunbo?
Bro, I didn't default. If I was owing the man, there's no way I will drive the car from mainland to Obalende for inspection knowing fully well that it will be retrieved.

I went there for the inspection because I was not on any default, even though no were in the agreement inspection is mentioned.

For a year I have been on this deal, I have never taken the car to anyone for inspection.

I was tricked to bring the car for inspection and the key was seized from me.

Car was not tokunbo, I have spent a lot to put it in very sound condition.

Even this week Wednesday, I spent over 100k to carry out a repair on the engine.

Then, the next day been Thursday I took the car for inspection and the key was seized.

I think I sent you pictures on Whatsapp.

You should wait and hear from the other side,if hopefully we get to see that.
From the story, this guy has done NOTHING!
But I am saying to you, no partner would withdraw car from his driver without any reason.
Recently, I learnt in a hard way never to make conclusion or even have an opinion on one sided story.
Please, there's no second side to this story. Assuming nairaland allows audio. I would have forwarded the voice note sent to me by the soldier to bring the car for inspection.

And he specifically told me the man just introduced inspection to be done every 2 months. Meanwhile, there's nothing of such on the agreement.

If I was on any payment default, I should have have been scared of driving the car down from mainland to Obalende for inspection. But because I know, I was not owing in anyway. That's why I drove the car there to honour the invitation which turned out to be a ploy to retrieve car.

The agreement clearly states that, if I default for 3 consecutive weeks that when the agreement can be terminated.

I have uploaded a copy of the agreement here and also the last payment receipt sent through Whatsapp on Monday.

As I write this, the man have not said anything or given any reason for seizure of the car. He just kept mute.

He don't pick calls or response to Whatsapp messages.

Sorry I couldn't go through the agreement you uploaded, but if the agreement doesn't state that you must notify him before you do any major work like the engine work you did, then you have more ground to go with Pearl advise.
Nothing like that on the agreement. I have been doing repairs on the car and there's no where is stated I should inform him about any repairs.

Even himself don't want to hear about any repairs. What he wants is his money every Monday and that's what I have been doing.

It is well, I understand.
The last place a Soldier will want to misbehave is inside the barracks. They are under serious disciplinary protocols. So he would have definitely had a lot of explaining to do if u went to the right authority to find out why ur car is withheld from u.
I never thought of this at all.

Why did u give him d keys??
U dey fear soldier?
Car that u have paid half of the money.
U don't need to be reminded that u bought the car in installment payments so it is ur car as long as u have not defaulted. Next time don't drop the keys to ur car except u have committed a crime and d car is impounded.
The soldier actually tricked me. He pretended to want to run checks on the car then make video and sent to the man.

Also, it was inside barracks. I didn't want to create a scene. That's why I calm down.

What's his reason for seizing the key from u?
I was told to bring the car for inspection and when I got there. The soldier said the man ask him to collect the car keys, no reason was given.

I called the man several times, no answer. I send him a voice note, till this minute he has not responded.

So I have not heard from him to know the reason.

You really don't need to have any cordial relationship with your Partner. Just adhere to d terms of the contract. It's business first.
No cordial relationship at all.

Is just receipt of payment every Monday and nothing else.

I don't report vehicle repairs or anything of such to him, because is a HP and I have to take car of all that.

Abeg no vex, what kind of relationship is between you and your partner?
I mean, in the sense of rapport...
Cos the contract between you two should be a friendly one that communication should flow btw you guys nahh.
If there's good rapport, you should be able to know why he's treating you that way.
The signed agreement definitely still stands, but let's leave that aside - aren't you two in good terms?
Cos it looks like you both are doing a strict transaction that's meant to be flexible.
Abi why HP go now turn to war ground like this?
No vex, you be man or woman?
I'm a full fledged man, don't mind my nairaland username.

The thing is initially from the onset of the deal, the man has a Lady P.A that coordinate things for him and relate with drivers.

The man has over 20 cars on the road as I was told.

But I don't know what really happened, the Lady P.A left and stopped working with him and that's how the man started dealing with me directly.

So there's no rapport between us, the only time I message him or he messaged me is Monday for payment receipts. Nothing else.

Okay,
Thanks for your suggestion.

Pearl1910:
Do u have a signed agreement with him?
And u aren't owing him.
Which one is u are told? Is his name not written in the agreement?
If he leaves in the baracks, carry ur agreement and visit the Provost master or Military Police and make ur case.
If he isn't in d military go to d nearest police station and ask to see the DPO. Explain urself, they will take it up from there.

If u have defaulted, and ur contract states that he can retrieve the car when u are in default (without conditions or allowance) then u can only pray and look for people to beg him for u.

Your signed Agreement is ur bible in this matter, everything starts and ends with that piece of document.
From ur story it seems like u know u have defaulted and u are at his mercy. cos if u aren't owing him and u have a signed agreement, then he can't collect the car from u even if he wanted to. Worse case he will refund u ur money .
I have a signed agreement.
I'm not owing him any dime. The last payment was done Monday night pass 11pm.
I can provide receipts for everything I said here.

The agreement carries his company name and the car papers bear Chief Barrister, I don't want to mention his name here for privacy purposes.

The reason I said I was told is because, when he retrieve the car in May due to delayed payment, he uses a soldier and the tracker guy to retrieve the car.

But after that incident, I have never defaulted again and he has been getting his money every Monday.

The agreement states that if I default in 3 consecutive weeks, he can retrieve the car.

And I have never defaulted for a full week in the past one year I have been on the deal.

I will upload the agreement now.

Good evening Gentlemen, Ladies, investors, partners and all Uber drivers.

Please, I have a very serious challenge with my Oga (partner), this my Oga seems to be a military man, though I don't know his rank and I have never seen him on any uniform. But I was told he's a military man. And he uses soldier to retrieve the car or to relate to me. I have been on this HP deal since last year August.

I will narrate the problem as it happened.

The total package for this deal is N8,000,000 and the agreement stated I must pay N80,000 every Monday.

Now, on the agreement. The time for payment is not specified like maybe Monday morning, afternoon or evening.

So since last year August I have been on this deal till mid May when the car was tracked, shutdown and retrieved.

After pleading and begging, I was made to pay a week upfront before I was given back the car. The car was impounded for a week without me working and I still paid for that week.

Ever since that incident, I have ensured that the Monday payment get to my partner on or before 11pm or at worst pass 11pm.

But it has never exceeded Monday. I have all receipts.

On Tuesday evening around pass 4pm. I was called to bring the car for inspection the following day yesterday.

This inspection is not stated or mentioned anywhere in the agreement and I have never been called for inspection since last year August I collected the car, they never call me for any inspection until this week.

But I could not go there because I had to do an emergency repair on the engine where I spent over 100k.

So today been Thursday I took the car for inspection and the key was seized from me.

I'm not owing the man and I have spent lots of borrowed money on the car, the money I borrowed to fix the car I have not paid back.

What can you guys advice me to do in this situation.

Why is the man bent on retrieving the car despite the fact that I don't owe him.

How can I go about this.

I really need expert advice.

could it be the fan that's causing the temperature to rise?
From experience, the fan is the culprit. That second fan is not supplying enough air to cool the engine effectively.
