One major reason why car rentals is considered DOA. Most drivers tend to blame failure to remit money on car faults, whether it's true or not. It's typically the driver who determines whether the car is in good condition or not, giving them significant control in the situation.

Consider this: which rational owner would knowingly provide a faulty car for rentals? And who typically ends up losing at the end of the day?

IMO, this business model only favors drivers not owners

Yes. I have seen owner who bought a Nigerian used and abused car with rusted underneath and oil shortage issue. Maybe because he got it cheap.
Instead of spending money to put the car in good shape. He dropped it for a driver to remit weekly.
When the car issues started coming up, he blames the driver. Whereas car already had underlying engine oil shortages and rust problems prior to the deal.
Most owners will NEVER give full disclosure on the condition of their car.

A good car doesn't require maintenance everyday. If u get 160-200k monthly on rentals and do repairs with 40-50k every two months, I dont think that's bad business.

Most investors buy already Nigerian abused cars and push it to the driver and expect the driver to perform magic and deliver.

They would NEVER blame the car, but the driver always.

The dealer won't take responsibility at all.

Buying a Nigerian used car and giving it out on rental or HP is something else. The previous owner may hide every developing issues with the car then pass it to the next user. When the car is put on rigorous duty through ehailing. It starts to reveal those hidden fault.

I have personal experience of one like that, it started with rust. Then engine drinking oil like elephant, then overheating.

In all of this, na driver owner go still blame.
