Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Should I Do Now, Please Help by dotman10(m): 6:22pm On Jan 08, 2016
I was in almost the same situation about 2month ago and I decided to go for the one that offers immediate employment, though with lesser benefits to the company I was on training with. What I did which I will also advice u to do is this.....look for the someone, especially within the HR unit who has a say in deciding if u will be employed and explain the situation to him or her.talk to the person not like an employer but like a younger brother who needs advice at a critical stage like this....the person will be able to tell u the level of certainty of getting employed with them....with that, it can easily inform ur decision.

I should be quick to mentioning here that the same company A I was on training with later gave me the chance to apply for the vacant post even when I was away with the new company B. But unfortunately after passing all the interview, the new Director of finance who is an Indian man said I am use to the environment already and that the sacked person in that position b4 had trained me on how to manipulate the position for a personal benefits. Hence they gave the job to another person....what ought to work to my advantage now worked against me.....Iya really mysterious indeed. But thank Allah, am really enjoying where I am now and they are even likely gona review ma salary soon. Though even of they review the salary, it's still not up to what I will get if company A had employed me.

Even rocket science is understandable....have u made any point? Cus I sincerely can't read meaning to your post. Is it that u don't know every corp member has a file to be opened for them either at their various platoons or at the point of screening even though everything has been computerized? Or u don't know the meaning of CLO or what?.

What I have posted is for those who needs it. If u ain't among u can easily read and pass. Afterll, it's not as if I was asking anybody fir anything to help.

I am very lazy when it comes to typing, especially on my phone. But when I consider the stress I went through looking for who to help me get a ppa around ibadan with nobody, no info, I then deemed it necessary to share this.

Don't be quick to assume I wana tell u how u can serve in Nigerian Brewery oo, or IITA, but rather a strategy u can employ if u want to be posted to the capital which is ibadan. I know many people wants ibadan and can in fact pay any amount to get this done because ibadan is actually the main deal for real.

What you should simply do is to come around ibadan b4 u enter camp and look for a school especially who can afford to give you a letter of request. Once you are able to get this, make sure u integrate it into your files before submitting it in camp. You are 70% certain of getting posted there. Because it is a school, u have a very good chance of being posted there. But if it's a private coy, u will need extra follow-up to get that.

There are advantages to serving in a school especially if u need time to do business or for professional courses during your service year....don't follow band wagons, believing that serving in a school is the greatest evil that can befall a corper. That is far from the truth.

On a final note, if u are interested in serving in a public school at Iwo road ibadan, I can help you do this. Though I passed out of service last week as batch C, but can still help u being the former CLO of the skul....

Just wasap me or call 07063377881....I will be willing to help....have a great service year ahead.

EducationEvidence That OAU Graduate With 2:1 Will Conviniently Bag First Class In Any Sch by dotman10(op): 3:06pm On Aug 22, 2015
The greatness of OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY is not in the name itself but rather the quality of her products. It has been argued in some quarters that a 2:1 graduate of OAU will conveniently bag First Class in any University in Nigeria....

See prove...

Adetutu Olowu, 22, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, graduated with a first class from the Lagos campus of the Nigerian Law School in the 2014/2015 academic session. In this interview with TUNDE AJAJA, she shares her experience

Was it your dream as a child to be a lawyer?

Yes, I had always dreamt of becoming a lawyer, even as a child. The main reason at that time was because I was fascinated by the respect and admiration people had for lawyers, especially in their formal dress (the wig and gown). So, I dreamt to be one, and I’m glad I made that decision.

How was your experience in the school?

I found Law school very challenging and a bit stressful. The classes were always long and we had assignments and tasks to work on every day. It was better to read so as to reduce the workload when exams were close. Being in Law School requires a lot of focus and effort, but I found that it was good for my development as a person. People told me how difficult it could be to have a first class, but those stories strengthened my resolve to excel.

How easy was it to graduate with a first class from the Law school?

It was very challenging. In fact, the road to having a first class was the most challenging one I ever encountered till date. It didn’t come easy, but thank God I made it. I’m definitely a product of hard work and God’s blessing. Having a first class in Law requires hard work and my case wasn’t different. I had to drive myself very hard because I had the mind of having a first class and I knew it wouldn’t come easy, so I prepared for it. I used to read from the beginning to the end of the session and then asked God to crown my effort with success. So, that combination made it possible.

Did you also have the same performance when you were in OAU?

My performance was average when I was an undergraduate and that was because I didn’t put in enough effort in the first three years. By the time I was in 400 Level, I knew that I didn’t want to finish with a 2.2, so I started making the necessary changes that eventually got my grades up, and that was why I finished with a 2:1. Maybe if I had taken things seriously from the beginning, I would have done better. From my 400L to 500L, I experienced a radical improvement in my results. Interestingly, I have always excelled in my academics; I passed my West African Senior School Certificate Examination and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination very well – at one sitting. The only periods that I didn’t perform well were during my first three years as an undergraduate and it was primarily because I thought I could continue with old methods and get the same results. Thank God I changed that approach before it was too late. I realised that if I put in the required effort, I could and would be the best in all I did. Thus, I didn’t need anyone to tell me before I adopted that measure when I got to the Law School. I worked hard, but more important was God’s grace.

The performance at the three Law Schools this year was not very good, evidenced by the fact that there were only four first class graduates and Lagos school produced two, out of which you are one. Beyond hard work, were there other things you did differently to have it?

Well, I read before every class, listened to advice from the lecturers on how to pass the Bar exams. I also attended the small group discussions in order to learn from my peers and I asked God for help. However, my decision to have a first class also helped because when I was admitted in April 2014, my plan was to finish with a first class, and that kept me focused. I had something I was working towards. Also, the support I got from my parents was helpful. When I was starting Law School, I told my family that I was aiming for a first class and they, especially my mother, supported me with their prayers and love.

What was your typical day like in the Law School?

I used to wake up by 3:00am and read till 5:30am, after which I would have my bath and go back to sleep. After that, I would wake up by 8:00am, have my breakfast and prepare for class. We used to spend about eight hours in class with just thirty minutes lunch break. After classes, I took time out to gist with my roommates and friends, ate dinner and then go to bed.

A number of people see Law as a complex, voluminous and technical course, what is your view on that?

Law is indeed very complex, voluminous and technical. However, I believe that consistent reading will aid understanding of the course, and approaching the course with an understanding that all aspects of Law are interrelated would help simplify it.

Some people think that cramming is a necessity for anyone to excel in Law, especially when it comes to cases. Did you have to cram as well?

No, I didn’t. I’m not very good at cramming. In fact, I didn’t cram lots of cases or statutes for the bar exam. I believe that the most important thing is to understand the principles of law so that one can apply them to problems in order to proffer solutions.

Which area would you like to specialise in?

Law is interrelated, but I have flair for International Business Law or Corporate Finance.

How long were you reading?

I can’t really say the exact number of hours I read daily because I read as time permitted. However, I made sure I read every topic before each class. That gave me an idea of what to expect and to be able to ask informed questions and clarify anything I didn’t understand while reading.

How often did you use the library?

I hardly used the library because I realised that I usually slept there. So, the best place I read was either in my room or the reading room in the hostel.

How would you describe your social life?

I was not very social, but my friends understood my kind of person, so they let me be. However, I tried to be social from time to time, just as they say all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. I tried to be involved a bit in some social activities.

Being a young lady, how did you handle peer pressure?

I’m an independent person and I have been like that for as long as I can remember. In addition, I hang out with like-minded people who would not put pressure on others to do anything they don’t want to do. So, that wasn’t a problem for me.

How did you use your leisure?

I read fictional books and I watched a lot of movies.

How did you handle gestures from men, who might be attracted to your brilliance?

I tried to be friendly with them, but I always made my position clear and I stood by it. It didn’t stop me from mixing and relating with them, but there were boundaries and we all respected that.

What were your most memorable moments?

My happiest memory till date is the day I saw my Law School result. It remains a day to remember. If you set a goal and you worked at it, coupled with your faith and you achieve that set target, it will surely be memorable and I cherish that moment. However, I also won’t forget the day I fell in church because I was wearing heels and the ground was wet. I felt embarrassed.

What are your immediate plans and aspirations?

I intend to practise for some time and go for my Master’s very soon. I like to go deeper. Law is an interesting course that any interested person would find attractive. I’m glad to be in this profession.

Where do you hope to work?

I look forward to working in a big and reputable law firm. I like to practise, but law is a course that is relevant to every aspect of life, so I might venture into something else in future.

What would you advise students to do to have an excellent result?

Students should read very well. There is no shortcut to that. They should not be too proud to ask for help from their peers when they need to. Above all, they should always ask God to crown their efforts with success.

My greatest wish at this moment is to get a job of such in ibadan even at that pay slash u mentioned... The reason being that, ibadan is one of the best place to live talking in terms of living life economically. Whatever u re likely to want to stay in lag to do, u will do it much better, conveniently, happily and cheaply here in ibadan.

Am one of those that usually argues that I can't live anywhere else than Lagos, but this orientation changed totally with my service experience here. If it's because of ur MBA, University of Ibadan is right here for you and they are presently selling forms for masters at the moment.

Even if u re my enemy, I will advice u move to ibadanvwith your work and still take ur MBA here in UI....as for pay slash, abeg u will be happy eventually because it will be worth it considering the ridiculous cost of living here in IB.

But feel free to ask Me any question......07063377891 watsap only. I can also connect u to some corper in command secondary school in kaduna who might be willing to assist u in.....

NOW TO THE STORY

I know some of u might be wondering already who is KUREGE and what he did to us. Well, for your information, KUREGE is in my own opinion the most popular soldier man in the blackgold camp even more popular than the state coordinator because of one reason u will soon find out.

At around 5am of the day camp should open formally, I already had my bath, then lying on ma bed fantasizing about the whole camp tinz especially how I go enjoy my life for maami market. Suddenly, I heard pple blowing whistle and shouting in a kinda military language which I really Dont understand. Like others in the hall, I ignored the whole idea while majority are even still sleeping. Before we discover it wasn't a mad man in the room chasing everybody without allowing then a time to carry all their baggages and buckets which is to be carried, all of is don reach camp gate. No thanks to KUREGE for this as lots of people got wounded including myself. in short, we were sent out of the gate to be admitted formally. We all formed lines in 3s separately from the gals. We were asked to put our baggages on our heads while we simg as instructed by KUREGE. In fact that morning drilling alone woke me to reality and fawe away my fantasy. Again, it became very clear to me that camp activities no be moi-moi. All officials came to tell us thingz we re expected of in the camp with the camp director emphasizing the fact that all through the 3weeks, OUR ENTIRE LIFE WILL BE REGULATED AND WE HAVE NO DECISION FOR OURSELVES". in fact, KUREGE made it clear to is that if we are asked "how are u this morning' the one and only response should be "NO OPTION SIR"

At this point I was almost dying inside but believe that it will get better.we went inside and registration started proper and that same day, parade started proper. Except for that morning, I never had my bath in d morning again and I never went to toilet in duringvthe day again. Don't ask me why cuz u will soon find out.

At this juncture, I should leave u to go find out what happens in camp latter and after then.....however, I need to admonish you on the issue of redeployment. I consider this very important and will do that latter in the evening if I have the strength.

Have a lovely day ahead

welcome to the club..am still in shock as I hoped for somewhere else
U re better start strategizing asap And put urself together. By now u need no news as to where most corper in Ibadan are being posted except u have someone in house who can Help u get NBP, IITA etc, if not na na skul tinz. Posting u to skuls in itself may not be bad as skuls in places like lanlate, ibarapa, eruwa, shaaki........etc. Lol......... By th name self, u go don understand what the situation will be like except u really wana explore. However, as a serving corp member in ibadan here who faces damn in my own time,I will lik to advice everyone here to try come to ibadan latest by monday to look for schools either public or private in a conducive environment And demand their request letter to be included in their files in camp. with such, u can such places as ur ppa. I have a school in iwo road that I can help just 2 ppl to get request letter but FEMALE ONLY....

Importantly, I should make it very clear to everyone who intend to work their ppa's to ministies that u might be very unlucky at the end even if u get it. I am telling u this because I have pple who are victims of such circumstances. I will get nothing more than the 4k state allowance and u will work from 8-4 while other corpers who work in public skul will also get the same 4k and work from 8-2. Also, public skul copers usually have sufficient time for other things and on fact can take up many professional exams with the time.......

I dont know why am telling u all this but I believe u should noy witness the kind of thingz I witnessed b4 I became stable here. If I had sufficient info about all this tinz, in fact.......
