jossyblack: Thanks dotman.
U welcome sir
NYSCRe: NYSC 2014 Batch C House by dotman10(m):
jossyblack: hello guys, please i need any advise /info on the batch C 2014 nysc program.

my sister is hoping to go for batch c, how would she know if she ia eligible to register on their site, because we have not heard or seen any mobilization list from her school ?er

secondly she is pregnant and due to deliver in october, at most last week of october, can she still go for the nysc, and if she registers but could not make it, does that mean she has forfeit or is there any chance to defer?

please what do you guys thing we should do, coz now she is already very heavy. do we still register her?
Well, I believe that the skul in question is having a division of student affairs with which she can consult for information as to whether their set will be going for service by Nov which will inform her wether to register or not. Also, as per her being heavily pregnant and the possibility delivering by oct/Nov, I will advice that she let go of the idea of serving by batch C. She will only need to go to appropriate section of division of student affairs to register her case and get appropriate counselling from the right person. This will make it easier for her whenever she is set to serve again. Hope this help....ogas in the can further advice on this

NYSC may review N4,000 online registration – DG

There are indications that the National Youth Service Corps may bow to public pressure and reduce the controversial N4,000 online registration fee the NYSC intended to charge prospective corps members.

But that will not take effect from the coming orientation but in the later future.

The Director of Press and Public Relations in NYSC, Mrs. Bose Aderibigbe, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the meeting held on Wednesday in Abuja between the Director-General of the NYSC, Brig.- Gen. Johnson Olawumi, and the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth Affairs, Mr. Jude Imagwe.

She said, “He (Imagwe) came to find out what is going on about the outcry against the payment of N4,000 online registration by prospective corps members. The DG told him that the N4,000 being paid is not for call-up letters but just for the operation and provision of infrastructural facilities in all NYSC camps and its 37 secretariats and offices in the 774 local governments nationwide. It is for putting these Internet and manpower facilities to ensure easy operation of prospective corps members.

“The DG has stated that the N4,000 issue might not be reviewed for now but during subsequent orientation, it might be possible after management and Sidmach Technologies have sat down to see the possibility of the reduction. So for now, it might not be possible but subsequent ones, if it is possible the entire public will know about it.”

There had been criticisms against the N4,000 fee but the NYSC had risen to its defence, saying the computerisation would ease the rigorous processes involved in the collection of call-up letters.

The full computerisation of the mobilisation process beginning with the 2014 Batch ‘C’ mobilisation exercise was endorsed at the 2014 NYSC Annual Management Conference, held in Calabar.

The Director of Corps Mobilisation in the NYSC, Mr. Anthony Ani, stated that the innovation would not bring about job losses for members of staff.

Claroo: NANS has a role to play,I don't see our tertiary institutions boycottin service. I only see the federal govt compelling Nysc to reduce d 4k to probably 1k,federal govt no go increase Allowance, and d registration won't be mk free.
What is NANS? Who's interest are they protecting or fighting for? If u care to know, NANS as we have today is nothing but a quasi-political group headed by opportunists who have only occupied offices for a parochial interest. Let me ask, how many times have you and I participated in any of NANS congress to advance our interests which we want NANS to pursue?, have we really saddled them with any responsibilities? If not, will u then still want to say that they are student body fighting for students sake?.....
If truly we are willing to say no to all forms of exploitation at least for the first time by great Nigerian students, this platform is a great avenue to mobilise and engage in what I called a 'systemic protest', targeting a very sensitive and strategic point where the government can then see that people who are affected are really saying NO....in fact, we can employ all forms of propaganda using the 2015 ambition of Mr president to canvas for a change in such exploitative move by NYSC. it takes an enlightened minded people to effect a change, it's takes our commitments to change our Government-fashioned Destiny.....

Hidentity: Thanks @ xpensive. Until you replied, I felt I was not making any sense because those I thought should share my sentiment just ignored my suggestions and continued with more "important" things.

I hope our country won't get to a level where suffering and enjoying it will be a normal thing even to the youths. Thanks @ Xpensive. I appreciate.
I hope our country won't get to a level where suffering and enjoying it will be a normal thing even to the youths. Thanks @ Xpensive. I appreciate.
Lols....@ Hidentity I really can understand what it feels like when u say things u consider important and expect people to assess critically but rather consider as non-issue because they feel there is little or nothing they can do about it. Or because they feel there are more personal issues to attend to than general.....like u earlier said, I also pray that our country won't get to a level where suffering and smiling will be a normal thing even when we see it clearly that this is a pure exploitation. What we know as "Arab Spring" today was started by one man, one event in one country which consequently changed a long standing exploitative order....the future of every nation depends on the kind of youth prevailing at every point in time with what is obtainable in Nigeria today I see a dooms day ahead
Question to the house.

As the camping draws nearer, what are your expectations on the one year NYSC period ?

Mine... Looking forward to impacting lives, save as much as I can, develop some skills and catch some wild fun.... Lolz

Five years schooling no be beans o.

[/q

My own plan is to make it the starting point of the unavoidable journey of my life. What I mean by this is that what ever will happen after my service year must start now. The question "what next after NYSC" has always instilled in me a fear which I can not but tackle during the one year. In a nutshell, I wana get connected to the powerful as much as possible within that one year, set the stone to be climbed to that place I desire, importantly, get ma self prepared with what is necessary to survive the challenging society....

Anugod: Oga no need to call undue attention, you've been noticed already. Posting the same thing three times and taking up so much space just to air your opinion is uncalled for.
In my opinion, I think this thread has been very helpful to me. Most times I just read and learn from many useful posts and it keeps me constantly updated that my schoolmates around me depend on me to know what's happening. The other side attractions keep the house lively. If you don't like the modus operandi here, you can easily sign out. Your first post on the matter was enough to make your point. I just had to quote you cos I feel it's totally uncalled for reposting three good times taking up so much space.
of course am not surprise receiving responses like this because it was not unexpected. What i see u doing is justifying my earlier established claim that majority of people would have love to comments on this thread but are scared of being nailed by myopic minded people like you#No offences abeg# . If u feel what ve written does not mean anything to u, then you have the option of remaining silence rather than attacking my opinion.

I must say that I really appreciate the vibrancy of every individual who have contributed immensely to the this forum. U are are all well observed. However, I still must say in my own resounding opinion that we are not doing enough to educate ourselves on important issues which can inform a life changing decisions for every member of this forum. Rather than being informative and educationally orientated, I see it more as a comedy orientated, an avenue where people can fall in nd crack jokes, hail thee, nd or at best show case talent in one area of interest or the other. Am not saying this in itself is bad but rather I feel there is more to what we can offer ourselves than just this. The truth is that people who viewed this thread are much more than those who actually commented at one point or the other. This in part may be because what is being discussed fall short of their expectations and or it fails to trigger a resounding interest on important topics/issues which make people want to contribute even when they are not in the mood.
For instance, a question from any member of the forum like "WHAT INFORMED YOUR DECISION REGARDING THE STATE YOU WISH YO SERVE" will triggers a lot of responses from which people who have erroneously selected a particular state can learn and change such important decision which can have a long lasting effect on their lives. Apart from this, anybody can just post something which you know that others does not. With this, this thread will be more beneficial to everyone and we ll have more reasons to thank God and everybody that a thread like this ever existed....

EducationRe: OAU Fees Hike Struggle: Management Places Union Leaders On Probation by dotman10(m): 8:10am On Aug 22, 2014
this is indeed very serious. what i can and will only say is that if there is anytime to reject the any form of authoritarian system of administration by the Great Ife students, it is now! The truth is that you guyz dont have anything to lose again after all you have been able to withstand the "'stay @ home for no reason" policy of the management which has bastardized the academic calender already. Hence, it is better to fight to victory. I know many are willing to go back to school but remember the future of the union leaders who have taken it upon themselves to fight for a perceived injustice done to the entire students of OAU is at stake here. an injustice to one is perceived as to all in this case and that is what makes us great. Say no to injustice! Say no to victimization!! Say no to authoritarianism!!!
EducationRe: Male and Female Students Living in Same Apartment: Have Your Say by dotman10(m): 7:43am On Aug 22, 2014
well, in my own opinion, it depends on the agreement between the 2 individual involved. i lived a couples life from my year 1 till final year in skul nd sincerely i nurture the intention of getting married to this babe only if she keeps to plan and agreement. so it depends on how u see it. dos who fell victim of this circumstances negatively will surely come here nd say its bad. however, what ever faces one is turning back @ another and that is life 4u.
