Buhari's Ex-Sports Minister Solomon Dalung Attacks President, Says He Can Be Easily Manipulated He added that Nigeria under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is deteriorating speedily into comatose. Former Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, has highlighted what he described as the major problems of President Muhammadu Buhari. Dalung, in a post on his verified Facebook page, urged Buhari to act swiftly to rescue his legacy from being banished into the trash bin. He added that Nigeria under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is deteriorating speedily into comatose. Dalung, who served as a minister under Buhari from 2015 to 2019, described the regime as a failure. He said, “I love you the Daura born General, anti-corruption Czar, but Nigeria is deteriorating speedily into comatose. You need to act swiftly to rescue your legacy from being banished into the trash bin. I cannot betray my loyalty to you under the canopy of silence when the occasion demands standing on the side of truth and justice. We owe you and posterity the burden of accountability where we stand in the face of all these things. “You meant well for the country but it's not enough to have the integrity to move a multicultural society like ours forward. I don't envy you because even though you have not changed, you have not been able to change your environment because you operate on parallel lanes with those who should have translated your virtues of integrity into a common good. “Your greatest predicament is misplacement of trust and confidence, because once you trust you hardly distrust. Therefore, all that is required to beguile your leadership is to manipulate these antics against your charisma. If everybody is honestly doing his own part of the responsibility, the furore about your personality would have not existed in the first place. Since you depend on them to govern, their stories are your truth which is the opposite of the reality on the ground. “You have been overwhelmed by challenges of leadership and desperately desire assistance but unfortunately you are a victim of noble intentions surrounded by overzealous elements patronising agenda contrary to your mandate. I can feel your inner person revolting against all these but of course, it cannot exonerate you from responsibility because the bulk ends on your table. “Now that you are in the Holy Land and will be performing lesser hajj, may God who know your heart grant our common prayers for radical changes that will be fair to your legacy. You occupy a space in my daily prayers because I know you meant well for Nigeria but I cannot understand how we got here. All I can do for now is to keep praying for things to be better.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/10/29/buharis-ex-sports-minister-solomon-dalung-attacks-president-says-he-can-be-easily |

N500Billion Scandal: Northern Group Demands Emefiele’s Resignation As Nigeria's Central Bank Governor They insisted that the sum of N500 billion which was stolen in a private Dubai investment towards the end of 2018 should be investigated. The Arewa Youth Assembly, a socio-economic and socio-political group has called for the resignation or sacking of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele. According to the northern group, doing so will save the nation from further economic meltdown. CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele They insisted that the sum of N500 billion which was stolen in a private Dubai investment towards the end of 2018 should be investigated as well as other funds that went missing during Emefiele’s administration. SaharaReporters had in May 2019 made public a phone conversation of Emefiele; his deputy, Edward Lametek Adamu; Director for Finance, Dayo M. Arowosegbe and one of the Special Advisers to the CBN Governor, Emmanuel Ukeje discussing how to cover up the loss of over N500 billion stolen from the CBN in a private investment that collapsed. Two audio files, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, revealed how the governor and top officials of the apex bank discussed plots to conceal the loss of huge sums of money in a Dubai investment. The CBN claimed the audio conversation was genuine but no money was missing from the bank. Isaac Okorafor, Director Corporate Communications had said: “The selective conversation being circulated was simply a discussion to ascertain why the auditors took that position and next steps to resolve it. Obviously, it soon became clear that a state government's loan cannot be classified as 'bad' or 'irrecoverable' when the state still exists and getting FAAC allocations.” However, in a petition written by Emefiele to the Inspector General of Police, he confirmed that the audio was authentic and this time raised the alarm that his phone had been bugged and that there was a breach of security at the apex bank. He also asked the Inspector General of Police to investigate the audio leak. Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Mohammed Salihu Danlami and Abdulsalam Kazeem; Speaker and Deputy Speaker of AYA respectively alongside other group’s leaders urged the CBN Governor to resign over his alleged inability to stabilise the country’s bleeding economy. The group said, “As you may be aware of happenings in the past couple of days on issue bordering on the untold hardship the Nigerian masses are being subjected to as a result of poor economic policies and decisions of the country's apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under Mr Godwin Emefiele's stewardship. “For the umpteenth time, some of the issues we have raised which our attackers and their sponsors have not been able to intellectually counter are enumerated below for the purpose of those seeing them for the first time: “The drastic and steep devaluation of the Naira against other currencies even in Africa, Mr Emefiele met the naira exchanging against the American dollar at 1$ to ₦170 but today under his stewardship of the apex bank, it is 1$ to ₦575. This happens as a result of poor economic policies of the CBN and it has been postulated that if nothing is done, a dollar will exchange for N1,000 before the end of this year. That will not be good for Nigerians who struggle daily to earn their living. “It was gathered that the CBN failed to remit about N800 billion to the Federal Government and haven't submitted the audited report of the apex bank to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation since 2010. “Under the watch of Mr Emefiele as CBN boss, ₦150 billion NIRSAL loan money got missing. Dishing of Bureau-de-Change (BDC) licenses to unprofessional agents, most of who are his friend's allies, has further plunged the naira into further devaluation since these have only used these windows for selfish purposes at the expense of other 200 million Nigerians. “Misappropriation of funds of the bank to serve his selfish secret presidential ambition. ₦500 billion stolen from the CBN towards the end of 2018 in a private Dubai investment that went sour should be properly investigated. “We wonder why the issues raised are not been addressed, rather, they choose to use thugs and miscreants to engage us on a smear campaign that holds no water. They launched media campaigns against us, publishing and airing all manner of falsehood against us to turn Mr President against us. “The thugs and miscreants hired by Mr Emefiele are by their actions dragging the name of President Muhammadu Buhari in the mud. Though this is nothing new because this same class of people are the ones who criticise the President Buhari-led federal government at every opportunity, right from the inception of his administration. “We suspect that Mr Emefiele is the one who is sponsoring every of their smear campaign against Mr President and everyone who stands for the truth. It is noteworthy that, this same set of people who claim to be defending the CBN Governor cannot come out with superior arguments on the issues we raised and, we urge the Presidential media team to take a closer look at each of these points for action. “The question that keeps begging for an answer is that, why is it that the same set of persons who have never seen anything right about this administration and will always jump up in the attack of Mr President via every medium available to them will be the same persons defending the CBN Governor? “We buttress again that these individuals are being hired to do so. It also clarifies our much earlier suspicion that all of their previous attacks on the government through CUPP, Arewa Consultative Youth Forum, Arewa Consultative Youth Movement, etc. are being paid for. “The attack on the Arewa Youth Assembly and purported impeachment of its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, are laughable because they are merely campaigns of calumny meant to silence our voices but they have failed on arrival. We want to assure these enemies of a strong Nigerian economy that, these voices of reason will continue to speak up in the defence of the truth which shall be revealed soon. “As we can no longer sit and fold our hands while things go beyond bounds, we at the Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) a few days ago took the bull by the horn and confront the key challenge facing us. As a result, we came up with three(3) possible leeway that can put an end to this quagmire: That Mr Emefiele voluntarily resigns since he is deemed incompetent, totally out of ideas and has become a burden to the Nigerian economic system. “We ask that Mr President sack Emiefele now before it becomes too late to reshape the Nigerian economy in such a way that it has a positive impact on the life of a common man in the street. Mr Emefiele has constituted himself a mole in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Mr Emefiele has demonstrated he is a cog in the wheel of progress by making rubbish of all of Mr President's lofty initiatives aimed at bettering the lives of Nigerians thus pitching many Nigerians against Mr President. “If any of the two (2) above fails to happen, we will occupy the premises of the apex bank permanently to press home our demands until Mr Emefiele resigns or he is sacked by Mr President. A date has been fixed for this mass action and we ask all Nigerians to join us in this struggle for the total emancipation of our dying economy.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/09/20/n500billion-scandal-northern-group-demands-emefiele%E2%80%99s-resignation-nigerias-central-bank

In the lawsuit filed today, Johansson made the claim that the release of the movie on Disney+ breached her contract and caused a loss of theatrical revenue that she would have received if the movie had been released only in cinemas. The National Association of Theater Owners had some harsh words for Disney about their simultaneous release of the Marvel movie on Disney+ Premier Access, which they claimed helped drive the film's 67% drop in takings.

Insecurity: Garba Shehu quotes Romans, Galatians to tackle Kukah The Presidency has described as unfortunate and disappointing the way and manner Bishop Matthew Kukah castigated his country, Nigeria, before the United States Congress. A statement by the President’s spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, on Sunday in Abuja, advised Kukah to desist from sowing discord and strife among Nigerians. The presidential aide believed that the opinions expressed by Kukah before the US Congress were personal, and not opinions held by majority of Nigerians. According to him, religious leaders who preach respect for truth have a duty to practice it, and it is a moral and practical responsibility to stand up publicly for the truth. He said: ”There is no place in mainstream civil discourse for those who actively, negatively, and publicly label an individual ethnic group, especially before a foreign audience. ”These are not the views expressed or opinions held by the vast majority of the citizens of Nigeria. ”For all our challenges as a nation, nearly all of us seek to live together in harmony, celebrating differences, and finding a common ground as Nigerians above all. ”But people like Kukah are doing their best to sow discord and strife among Nigerians. ”More than any other set of people, leaders – in politics or religion who preach respect for truth have a duty to practice it. It is a moral and practical responsibility. ”Going by the history of the Church as is well known, it will stand up publicly for the truth. ”It is time others did the same.” The presidential aide quoted some sections of the Holy Bible to justify his condemnation of those using ethnic and religious sentiments to promote social discontent among Nigerians. He said: ”To be clear, The Bible is definitive on matters of ethnicity and racialism: ”In Romans 2:9-10, it says: ‘There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honour and peace for everyone who does good’. ”And in Galatians 3:28: ‘There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus’.” He added that: “Whether Christian or Muslim, we stand by these beliefs and are steadfastly committed to them in governance.” Shehu described Kukah’s mission statement in the US as a familiar ”overseas political tours that opposition politicians take – visiting foreign leaders and legislators in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe.” He said such ‘tours’ were meant to attract maximum media attention back home to score cheap political goals. ”So, the argument goes, if they are heard seriously abroad, then Nigerian citizens back home should surely listen to them too. ”But in order to be heard at all, and to maximise media coverage back home for their activities, inevitably these visits involve painting the worst possible picture of our country before their chosen foreign audience. ”Soon enough we inescapably hear an identical list of racist tropes against northerners, how one religion dominates governance above all others, and how the government is doing nothing to address herder-farmer disturbances. ”And how the government spends money on infrastructure to benefit everyone but the group and religion of the speaker. ”Of course, in order not to disappoint their western audience, regardless of fact, the list is always the same-and always slanted for whoever wishes to cross-check,” he said. According to Shehu, Nigerians expect this from their unimaginative opposition. He, however, maintained that ”it is troubling when a so-called man of the Church copies the worst excesses of those seeking personal advancement in public office.” He noted that it was only the Buhari administration that had so far put forward the first and singular plan in nearly a century to address herder-farmer challenges – a fact recognised by international NGOs, including the International Crisis Group. ”To declare to a foreign audience that this government does nothing is an incredible falsehood. ”To suggest that investment in infrastructure between Nigeria and Niger is wasteful and biased – when a similar infrastructure project between Lagos and Benin has revolutionised the two neighbouring economies to the advantage of both our countries – is quite disturbing,” he further maintained. The presidential spokesman also frowned at Kukah’s attempt to accuse the Buhari administration of promoting ethnic and religious sentiments in the country. ”There is no bias in this government when the president is northern and Muslim, the vice president southern and Christian, and the cabinet equally balanced between the two religions. ”But neither is there anything in our Constitution to state that political posts must be apportioned according to ethnicity or faith. ”It takes a warped frame of mind for a critic to believe ethnicity is of primary importance in public appointments. It is yet more troubling to hear a Churchman isolating one group for criticism purely on ethnic lines,” he added. Shehu also condemned Kukah’s position that only Christian students were largely being targeted or kidnapped by bandits in the Northern part of the country. He said: ”With due respect to the esteemed position he holds, the Bishop’s assertion that only Christian schools are being targeted by bandits or terrorists is not supported by the facts on the ground. ”It is sad to say but also true that victims of crime, kidnapping, banditry and terrorism cut across all strata of the society. ”Sad but true that Kankara students in Katsina State were kidnapped by bandits of the same Islamic faith as those they took away. ”The same may be true of those who are still holding the 134 students of the Islamic School at Tegina in Niger State. ”The nation witnessed the sad incident of the female students abducted by bandits at Jangebe in Zamfara State and the over 100 predominantly Muslim students of the Federal Government Girls College Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State.” The Birnin Yauri students are still in captivity as the nation’s security agencies are hard at work to release them unharmed. He added: ”The attack on Christian students is sad and unacceptable; so also is the abduction of students of other faiths. ”The claim that only Christian schools are being targeted is totally untrue. ”As a nation and a people, we must together define evil as evil. We must not allow our religious differences to divide us. ”No one gains but the evildoers when we divide our ranks according to ethnicity and religion in confronting them.” According to him, the bandits, kidnappers and terrorists are the enemies of the people who should be confronted in unison.
