I've also queried why the disbursement has to start up North when the lockdown is ordered in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun. The government should have shown some semblance of concern by starting the disbursement in the affected states first.

Sadly, while the FG is giving #10k to individual households in areas not yet affected by lockdown, Lagos and Ogun government are giving less than a quarter of bag of rice to a whole community in the name of relief materials as seen on various threads here.
Your leaders have their own share. They refused to distribute it the way it is done up North.

Nigeria’s response to coronavirus remarkable – UN chief

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has commended Nigeria’s response to the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Guterres, who spoke at a virtual news briefing in New York, the United States on Thursday, singled out Nigeria as one of the developing countries that have “shown a remarkable capacity to respond to the coronavirus.”

“I have to say this; some of these developing countries have shown a remarkable capacity to respond.

“I was quite impressed to see, for instance, Nigeria putting in place and immediately establishing a hospital.

“And I saw difficulties in countries that are much more developed to do quickly the same.”

Nigeria currently has 190 cases of COVID-19 with two deaths. (NAN)

HealthLUTH Sends Away Man Who Tested Positive For Coronavirus Over Lack Of Bed Space by Dotng(op): 6:18am On Mar 27, 2020
EXCLUSIVE: Lagos University Teaching Hospital Sends Away Man Who Tested Positive For Coronavirus Over Lack Of Bed Space

Benson, who had hoped to be quarantined and treated at LUTH after being tested at the government-owned hospital on March 21, was asked to go back home over lack of bed space to admit him at the facility.

A man named Emmanuel Benson, who had close contact with two persons that recently arrived Lagos from the United Kingdom, has been told to go home by medical personnel at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, after testing positive for Coronavirus.

Benson, who had hoped to be quarantined and treated at LUTH after being tested at the government-owned hospital on March 21, was asked to go back home over lack of bed space to admit him at the facility.

SaharaReporters gathered that since the refusal of LUTH to admit Benson, he had returned home and continued his normal life.

“He moved to and from LUTH through public transportation.

“He has been mingling freely with people,” a friend to the young man told SaharaReporters on Thursday.

When contacted by SaharaReporters on Thursday night after his mobile number was supplied to one of our correspondents, Benson indeed confirmed that he tested positive for the virus and was not admitted to LUTH for treatment by medical personnel.

He disclosed that he went for the test after coming in contact with the two UK returnees at a dinner party in Lagos last week.

When asked if money was demanded from him before the test was conducted, Benson refused to open up, instead saying that he does not want unnecessary attention.

While chatting with one of our correspondents on social networking platform, Whatsapp, Benson, who expressed fear of being stigmatised should his story be published, quickly deleted his display photo on his profile.

He was standing with an unidentified person in the photo where both men were wearing tags over their necks.

He said, “I am at home on self-isolation now.

"I had the test at LUTH even though the queue was too long.

“Some of the medical staff I spoke with later advised me to go home and self-isolate.

"They said I should get back to them after 14 days or that in seven days they might call to check my progress.

"I was infected at a dinner party organised for the two men who returned to Nigeria from the UK.

"I went for the test on March 21."

When asked if he had attempted to contact the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control to notify them of his situation and probably seek help, Benson said, “I have called the NCDC lines several times but they are not picking up the call.”

To further give credence to Benson's situation, the NCDC on Thursday night announced 12 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Lagos out of the total 14 detected in the country.

Nigeria now has 65 confirmed cases of the virus and one recorded death.

Testing kits for the virus are being used for politicians and their families while ordinary Nigerians with symptoms of the pandemic are being left to their fates.

Till date, less than 200 persons have been tested for the virus in Nigeria despite Lagos alone having a population of over 20 million persons.

An official of the Nigerian Medical Association told SaharaReporters that the number of confirmed cases declared by NCDC was far below the real figure, adding that there were already hundreds of citizens infected with Coronavirus walking and freely mixing up with others thus increasing the risk of a further spread.

PoliticsAbba Kyari Reportedly Sick, Suspected Of Contracting Coronavirus - SR by Dotng(op): 12:38am On Mar 24, 2020
BREAKING: Buhari’s Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari, Reportedly Sick, Suspected Of Contracting Coronavirus

Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari, is said to be seriously ill and in fact suspected of being infected with Coronavirus.

A top government source told SaharaReporters on Monday that Kyari has been seriously "down" since returning from a trip abroad.

Kyari visited Germany and Egypt and only returned this week, giving credence to the fact that he may have indeed been infected with the virus.

Egypt has 327 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and 14 deaths while Germany has 29,056 infections and 123 deaths.

Though coughing severely, Kyari is said to have been attending meetings including with Buhari, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, ministers and other members of the Federal Executive Council.

Executive Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Prof James Momoh, was said to have accompanied Kyari on the trip to both countries.

The latest development comes hours after a leaked memo showed Kyari telling Nigerian legislators, who recently returned from foreign trips, to submit themselves for Coronavirus test.

It also comes after Aisha Buhari, wife of Nigeria's President, disclosed that one of her daughters was in self-isolation after returning from the United Kingdom, one of the high risk countries for the virus.

On Monday, Nigeria confirmed its first Coronavirus death after a former Managing Director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Suleiman Achimugu, succumbed to the virus in Abuja.

Earlier, the Nigerian Center for Disease Control announced a total of 36 confirmed cases but with Kyari's suspected infection, that figure may have now risen to 37.

This whole coronahoax is just a test run to see what they can get away with. Judging by the peoples reactions so far....the deep state has us by the short and curlies. And they know it.

That is precisely what all of us should be thinking. Coronavirus isn't what it seems; the timing is too convenient and the numbers don't wash. Follow the timeline, the locations, places most affected, and you'll start to see the picture. Some of it is connected to the Epstein/Weinstein/Clinton/Winfrey (YES! WINFREY) sex-trafficking ring. Weinstein was recently sentenced to 55 years for perving on CONSENTING women and his sentence was reduced to 23 years as the result of a plea deal. Following his sentencing, several billionaire CEO's have resigned and multiple celebrities and politicians have suddenly "contracted the virus." There will be more resignations, more sudden (and convenient) celebrity/politician infections in an effort to save face. 600 people were recently arrested in a sex trafficking/corruption investigation that has spanned nearly 20 years. On the other side of the coin, the data doesn't add up. We have no way to confirm the number of infections and deaths the media is reporting. Just as China has completely manufactured the nature of the virus and their recovery, the government and media are deliberately fabricating the number of infections and deaths to push for a "vaccine" that will actually cause more sickness and death than their supposed virus (which wasn't a virus). Understand this: the vaccine is the actual goal, not curbing the virus. The media is deliberately strewing the data and drumming up public hysteria to push this goal forward. Do some research on 5G frequencies and their effect on the human body, and you'll see China's "virus." Wake up, people. We are witnessing one of the largest scale False Flag psy-ops we've seen in decades. More than 50,000 die from influenza each year and the media is completely silent yet, the entire nation is facing imminent lockdown and the media is pimping hysteria non-stop over a virus with a 98% recovery rate, with zero evidence to support their data. If you're not smelling something fishy by now, you need your heads examined. Stop listening to the media. Turn off your tv, put down the phone, and stop falling for the lie we're being fed. It's NOT a pandemic!
Does abiding by what you just typed make sense to you. Just tell us to revert back to the stone age. Even if what you said is true how will people be aware of falsehood by burying their head in the sand.

Coronavirus caused by corruption- Magu

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, says the dreaded coronavirus disease was caused by corruption.

Magu said this at the passing out parade of 281 cadets of the EFCC Detective Inspector Course-5, at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, on Tuesday.

While addressing the crowd which included the President, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and his Kebbi State counterpart, Atiku Bagudu, the EFCC boss said corruption is the “biggest strategy (sic) known to mankind”

He said, “Corruption is the biggest strategy to humankind. Your Excellency, corruption is worse than all the diseases now running about. And I strongly believe, Your Excellency, that even the coronavirus is caused by corruption.”

Magu said as of the time he took over at the EFCC in 2015, the commission had 103 convictions, in 2016 it rose to 195 convictions, 314 in 2018 and over 1,218 convictions were secured in 2019.

Coronavirus, which was first reported in December 2019, has infected more than 73, 000 people and killed more than 2,000.

The disease, which was first reported in Wuhan, China, has no cure and is also airborne.

No case of Coronavirus has been confirmed in Nigeria.

Magu has been known to link every social malady to corruption.

On February 8, 2018, during a visit to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Magu said the dreaded disease, cancer, was caused by corruption.

He stated, “Corruption is the worst enemy of Nigeria. It is a disaster. It causes all evils. Even cancer is caused by corruption. Every evil you find in society is caused by corruption directly or indirectly. So, it is high time you and I stamped corruption out.”

Last week, he told civil servants that resuming late at work was also corruption.

The advantage Sienna has over all others is that it is roomy. The Sienna is a family vehicle which has space for children and cargo. Other than that the Highlander is compact and would be more expensive to maintain as highlighted above. If you are willing to spend more and you are comfortable with the space within the Highlander then you can go for it.

AMOTEKUN: Confusion as AGF disagrees with VP, South West governors

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Thursday, insisted that the Southwest security outfit, Operation Amotekun, is illegal and unknown to the Nigerian Constitution

The minister said in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Dr. Umar Gwandu, that no amount of sentiments would make the Federal Government abandon the path of rule of law in running the country affairs.

Malami issued the statement a few minutes before Vice President Yemi Osinbajo met with the six South West governors to resolve the crises trailing the establishment of the Amotekun.

He said: “No amount of effort to hide the truth will work. People could be carried away by sentimental or emotional inclinations, but the truth remains apparently palpable.

“The bottom line is that the current Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not accommodate the formation of regional security architecture.

“This is a fact which is indisputable and undeniable. Mr. Falana was prevaricating and circumlocuting using evasive techniques when he was asked by the media to justify the presence of lacuna within the law which could establish or protect the concept of regionalism in any operation in the country.

“This arrangement called Amotekun is not backed by any law neither at the State nor at the Federal Government level. Amotekun, therefore, remains unconstitutional and illegal as already indicated.

“The Federal Government appreciates that legally-minded Nigerians have started to eschew emotions by offering legal comments on the matter as against being carried away by other inclinations.

“The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice is committed to the rule of law and a constitutional democratic Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

At the meeting which was attended by Malami and the Inspector-General of the Police, Mohammed Adamu, the federal government and the governors agreed that necessary legal instruments would be put in place by each of the states to give legal backing to the Amotekun and address all operational issues on the initiative.

However, the AGF has not withdrawn his statement on the illegality of the security network at the time of filing this report.

Amotekun: Malami Swallows His Word, Claims Misinterpretation

Abubakr Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation, on Thursday, denounced his earlier stance against the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Outfit code-named Operation Amotekun which he had declared illegal.

Malami whose condemnation whose anti-Amotekun remark had stirred up more knocks than nods on social media, has, however, claimed to have been misinterpreted by the governors of the six southwestern states and their sympathisers across the federation.

Malami made a U-turn on his anti-Amotekun stance while addressing responding to a question during a chat on Radio Nigeria Abuja on Thursday morning where he explained:

“I was misinterpreted on Operation Amotekun, I did not say it’s Illegal”.
“I said the Operation Amotekun should be properly back by law, so if at the end of this Government, if the Operation has been backed by law, any Government that eventually succeeded this government will not rubbish the Operation”.
“I said if they failed to enact a law in support of Amotekun in the South West Region of Nigeria, another government can come and say it’s Illegal and this is because it is not backed up by any law”.

“So, It is just an advice to the state governors to use their power and the State Houses of Assembly in their various states to enact a law that will make the Operation more effective.”

Debt: Nigeria risks bankruptcy under Buhari ― Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo who served as a civilian president between 1999 and 2007 has said the nation risks impeding bankruptcy under the present administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

The second elected civilian president of Nigeria while speaking in Lagos at the first edition of the Nigerian Story organised by the ‘Why I Am Alive’ campaign noted that:

“As at 2015, total external debt was about $10.32billion. In four years, our external debt grew to N24.947 trillion or $81.274 billion. ”

The former president stated there is nothing wrong in taking loans to finance growth and development, but according to him such ought to come “with a high degree of discipline, responsibility and foresight”,

His notion was also that the Nigerian government is “notoriously deficient in serious and adequate discipline and most often lack competence and consistency.”

During Obasanjo’s administration, the nation’s GDP growth doubled to 6 per cent until the expiration of his tenure.

The country’s foreign reserves also increased from $2 billion in 1999 to $43 billion in 2007 when he left office.

Obasanjo was also able to secure debt pardons from the Paris and London club amounting to some $18 billion and paid another $18 billion to be debt-free.

Most of these loans were accumulated from short-term trade arrears during the exchange control period.

Obasanjo said his fear is that unlike the situation in the past, the current “creditors are less tolerant of our limitations and inadequacies.”

“As at 2015, total external debt was about $10.32billion. In four years, our external debt grew to N24,947 trillion or $81.274 billion. To service this current level of indebtedness, we must commit at least 50 per cent of our foreign earnings, such a situation tells about an impending bankruptcy because no entity can survive while devoting 50 per cent of its revenue to debt servicing.”

“In 2018, total debt servicing cost took over 60 per cent of government revenue. As if this is not bad enough, we are currently seeking to add another $29.6 billion loan to our already overburdened debt portfolio.”

“Our current budget, out of which we are spending 25 per cent to service debt is not our total earnings, a lot of it is also borrowing. We are borrowing to service what we have borrowed and yet we are borrowing more.”

Considering the decline in oil price, Obasanjo said the situation will get worse and Nigeria may never be able to secure another debt relief and might become the poorest nation in the world.

Encouraging Nigerians to speak up, the former president, Obasanjo said; “For once, all Nigerians need to rise up and shout in one voice and call on the National Assembly to rise up to its core duty and responsibility and save our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren from being mirred in debt.”

“The forecasts now are scary. At the present rate, Nigeria’s population by 2050 will be well over 400 million and Lagos alone will be over 40 million. If we continue as we are going now and as we have gone start and stop in the past, we will be one of the most wretched of the world and maybe the most wretched in Africa.”

Vanguard has reported that President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking a loan of $29.9 billion and that the NASS already promised to grant the application

An elder statesman and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, who also has the same view as Obasanjo faulted the loan decision of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to develop infrastructure, saying the president should have embarked on restructuring the economy and the nation’s governance structure before seeking more loans.

Keanu Reeves’ “Matrix 4” And “John Wick 4” To Be Released On The Same Day

2020 is a year to look forward to for film enthusiasts as Canadian actor Keanu Reeves would be going head to head against himself in the cinemas as John Wick in the action film of the same title and Neo in “Matrix 4”.

Warner Bros. announced Wednesday that the untitled fourth instalment in the Matrix franchise will hit theatres on May 21, 2021, putting it in a head-to-head match-up with John Wick: Chapter 4.

In Matrix 4, the now 55 years old Keanu will return as Neo. Meanwhile, Jada Pinkett Smith and Carrie-Anne Moss are set to reprise their roles as Niobe and Trinity respectively.

John Wick’s release date was announced back in May 2019 after the third instalment John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum knocked Avengers: Endgame from the number one spot at the box office and raked in $57 million (£43.3 million) during opening weekend.
