Lagos is where all the finanncial institutions have their headquarters. It only makes business sense for the headquarters of these companies to be close to the financial center. plus there's less kidnapping going on compared to the niger delta. There's nothing weird about that.

HERE'S ONE NIGERIA YOU AGITATING FOR.

2017 BUDGET ALLOCATIONS FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS.

North Central - N209 billion
North West - N73.7 billion
South West - N48.97 billion
North East - N46.69 billion
South South - N35.31 billion
South East - N28.22 billion

How is Nigeria one nation? You will get 90℅ of the fund from the Oil rich Niger-Delta yet give them the least allocation for capital projects! This is an abnormal society.

Now, you know why they shout One Nigeria.

If i sell provisions with N500,000 in one year, i should make more than what you guys are offering. Tie my money down and i will wait for 1 full year to earn 13%. Get out og here with this offer
good luck selling your provisions if you haven't started selling it yet. but check this out, You have to sit at your stall or shop through out the day or pay someone to do it or your stall could be bungled (God forbid) or other risks could be involved. sometimes all those risks involved may not be worth your while in terms of returns. However, a federal government bond they say is 'riskless'. if worse comes to worst the government is able to print money on tissue paper to pay you (then the matter of inflation could arise by this time we could be fighting a war). However you can go to bed knowing that your money is earning some returns without the relative risk attached to every normal investment venture.

WOW...tie down 1 million naira for 3 years and be given N 141,890?

Abeg...i no do. Treasury bonds pay higher don't they?

Financial analysts in the house, please clarify!
With regards to the interest, that 141,890(I don't know what % rate you used but I'll stick to your example) would be split into 4 and paid every quarter. and the 141,890 would be given to you every year for 3 years and at the end you get your 1 million back.

Yes Treasury bills(not bonds) pay higher but you are required to buy a minimum of N50 million to get access to it. the way around it would be to buy into a money market fund(e.g ARM MM fund, United Capital MM fund, Stanbic IBTC MM fund...etc). What these funds would do is gather money form different people and then with that volume they would be able to reach the minimum required to buy into treasury bills. they would also take their commission and other fees but it MAY still be higher than the savings bond rates.

How does the interest works?
It's paid quarterly. so 13% is split into 4 given you around 3.22% of what you used to buy the bond. then when the bond matures, you receive the amount you used to buy the bond. e.g if You had 1,000,000 and you buy a 3year bond paying 13%, you receive around (13/4)% ~=30,000 every quarter for 3years and then at the end of the 3 years the government gives you back your 1,000,000.

This DMO bond is not in the interest of Nigerians.

Take this analogy, I invest 500,000 then wait for 1years to collect 56,000.
Thats a stupid investment and use of money
You can look at it like that. but what are the alternatives. If you leave it in your bank account you only get less than 5%. The only sensible alternative is to buy into a money market fund which gives you access to T'bills which offer a higher rate. apart from the T'bills which other use of money do you suggest that's better??

If you want an office job learn about how offices run by reading a lot or doing internships. Do qualifications too to keep you ahead of the millions that studied business related courses like you. You just have to stand out. Even in the best countries people sweat to get jobs.

You can't flog an adult, even flogging kids is considered an abuse. Community service is the best. Suspension for a year in this case can derail careers of many of the students.
In real life and in societies we usually look up to, Suspensions are usually for disobedient behaviours while community service for physical wrongs and there must be a power to enforce e.g courts and police. In my place of work like many other places of work, if you flaunt a rule you are suspended

not by suspending them, they could have given them lighter punishments especially as they're first time offenders.
If they had flogged them people will shout. If they tell them to do community service people would shout that they are treating them like labourers. A suspension is a normal punishment it allows you to take time off to rethink your reason for disobeying the rules.

Although the writer made valid points, but there's something he needs to understand; the school is an organization that has laws set in it. If the students can't abide, they should leave the school. I'm not in support of the suspension issue, I hope the school try as much as possible to forgive them (especially the final year students), since they're a very religiousody. You can't be preaching forgiveness from the bible and not act according to it. Your argument is allowed
forgiveness doesn't mean you don't face the consequences for your actions.

What is your own problem. Every Student of that school must have signed a contract to obey every rule of the school and attend all compulsory programs of the school irrespective of the student's religion. You are getting angry that someone is being punished for breaking a rule he obviously knew about. what do fees and obeying the set laws have to do together People like you will not allow Nigeria be great. Lawless Op. Go and find somewhere to hide your lawless self joor
himee:
Covenant University is as it again and this time I am not keeping calm!

Please how can a school suspend final year students for not attending "Easter Youth Alive" program" for ONE yearhuh Where is that done? Is it on their curriculum? How many units does this program carry?

These students have barley two(2) or three (3) months to go before project defense and graduation, have exams coming up this week and the school wakes up and decides to suspend them for one (1) year? And what happens to the fees paid for the year? In this economic recession, parents should cough out close to a Million Naira again to pay feeshuh

How many "churchy" schools have ever done this? None! Its only Covenant University! Is there no better punishment to give to these students than suspension for a WHOLE YEARhuh What culture are you trying to imbibe into these students? When they are suspended, will they go home and become better people? What are the lecturers and counselors in the school for? What are the various Bible studies or programs in the school for? Are they organized for just believers? Who did the church come for? Who did Jesus come for? Isn't it the sinners? What if after every sin we commit, our Almighty Father in Heaven decides to suspend us from this earth, where will we all be?

I should believe parents who take their children to such schools do so not just for academic purposes, but also for the spiritual aspect. Isn't that why they have a course titled "The Total Man?" Or what other reason is this course for, if not to build all students, particularly the erring ones to become better people? If not so, they should please enlighten us.

I think this time around, Covenant University has gone over board!

We will not keep silent again.

Please and please, we would appreciate if this is published. We have had enough of this!

Can an Engineer be appointed to head National Hospital Abuja or UNTH?
Putting square pegs in round holes is one key reasons the country is dormant.
when you grow or get more exposed you'll realize that administrators/managers by virtue of their knowledge and skills can run anywhere. Most hospitals in the US are not headed by doctors, most banks have engineers and others in charge. Aruma oteh led SEC beautifully and gallantly yet is an engineer/scientist. We need to move from this myopic reasoning. My point is that in order to head the TCN, he doesn't need to be an engineer. He needs to be an excellent administrator or people manager with good knowledge about the TCN and power sector. He's worked there so I guess his knowledge is good. His level of quality transferrable skills I assume is high considering he's coming from the AFDB.

This man should sell dollars to importers to reduce inflation,i don't fancy this nonsense,Egypt infact went to borrow 30 billion dollars to sort their dollar shortage problem
Egypt current reserve is presently $19 billion and its economy is 1000% healthier than Nigeria at the moment. You don't save money while your family are suffering
Don't quote me if you are not ready to defend yourself
it'll be more costly when you go to borrow money without some form of collateral' (reserves). Low reserves allow speculators to bet against your currency by hoarding dollars and driving the value of your currency down. This is even more possible when they notice your reserves are down. When you say Egypt is healthier than Nigeria you may need to explain. Because on my last check (yesterday) companies are in line to close up and lay off staff as a result of bankruptcy which occurred as a result of a devaluation. Things appear to be getting better for Nigeria on the oil side so now is the time to build up the reserves again. #497 is as fake a rate as the #305. whether we admit it or not, the black market accounts for small fraction of the FX market. The CBN is working we just need to be a little patient and those speculators holding the rate @ #497 will soon be gone.

The Nigerian Army should learn to tolerate constructive criticism and findings of investigative journalism, this is democracy.
It is also democracy to advice a newspaper on its doings before taking it to court. The fact that it's a democracy does not give journalists the right to spew defamatory statements against the integrity of an individual.

This op is either new to buying tomatoes or something. This is the season of tomatoes therefore it's cheaper. As the rains begin to set in, it begins to get scarce and expensive. Those with good light and freezers or other preservation methods store enough tomatoes to last the for most part of the rainy season.
