When little Dante is old enough, his parents will sit him down and explain that “Mummy couldn’t have babies, so daddy did it for her.”

That’s because this cute toddler was born into one of the world’s most amazing families. His mum Emily was born a boy. And his father Cai was born a girl.

Doctors were baffled, believing it was medically impossible for “dad” Cai, 24, to give birth, especially as Emily was also thought to be sterile.

Cuddling their hazel-eyed son, now 22 months old, the proud parents explain how it happened.

“We didn’t plan on having a baby,” says Emily, 28. “We didn’t try to make it happen nor did we think it could happen. We were planning on adopting because, as far as we knew, having a baby on our own was impossible separately, let alone together.

“How it happened is a mystery, but we’re very grateful for it. I guess when two people love each other a lot, then a lot of special things can happen.”

it was love at first sight when the couple – whose surname we are not revealing for their protection – first met. Neither had undergone surgery but they were living as the opposite sex and moved in together within three weeks, knowing they truly understood each other.

“Being transgender is a pain, actually, and certainly not something you do on a whim,” says Emily. “Then I met Cai and it was amazing. I thought such things only happened in fairy tales.”

Office worker Emily was waiting for surgery to remove her male parts and had been taking female hormones since the age of 16. The couple had unprotected sex, but believed there was no risk of pregnancy because the formerly female Cai was on a high dose of the male hormone testosterone and was thought to be “chemically sterile”.

“I had long since resigned myself to the idea that I’d never be able to have biological children of my own,” says Emily. Having been on hormones for close to a decade it was considered impossible for me.”

What’s even more remarkable is that cautious Cai also had birth control injections just to be safe. But nine months on from their first date he discovered that   his “stomach upset” was in fact a baby. “I was seven months’ pregnant and I didn’t know it,” he says. “I’d put on 18lbs but didn’t feel the baby move.”

Emily, born as a boy called Scott, is Dante’s biological father. She had a full sex-swap operation a few months after the birth, and admits she felt so broody during the pregnancy she wished she could have given birth instead

Despite the unplanned, unorthodox pregnancy, the couple are now doting parents, each taking on the role of their new sex. Emily “breast-feeds” Dante with formula milk using a special attachment.

“I’ve always felt like the mum,” says Emily. “Regardless of anything else there is a lot of love in our family. We both absolutely adore our son, and the amount of joy he’s brought us is amazing. He is being raised in a loving, nurturing environment. That’s a fantastic way for a child to grow up. Our son is great. He’s perfectly healthy in every way.”

Although Emily went ahead with her sex-swap operation to make her fully a woman, Cai says he is happy as he is.

“As far as how we see each other, we’re a heterosexual couple,” says Emily. “He’s a man but has female parts. I’m a woman that once had male parts.”

Emily, who looks so feminine that most work colleagues don’t know her background, adds. “When I’m at work people just assume that I’m just an average mother with a kid and husband.”

The couple, who live in rural Penn- sylvania in the US, now star in a TV documentary called Pregnant and Transgender. And as Dante grows up there will be no secrets. “We’ll be upfront with him,” says Emily. “We’ll explain the situation, and that it doesn’t mean anything is wrong or that he’s different. We will say mummy couldn’t have babies so daddy did it for her.”

Cai adds: “Some say we shouldn’t have had a child, that we will confuse him growing up. But we’ll say, ‘We did things a little differently but here you are.”

Cai admits going through a stage of questioning his decision to change sex. “I remember one morning watching a couple in church with a baby,” he says. “It was physically painful for me because I am sitting there thinking that’s what I want and I will never have.”

Now that dream has come true Cai says he knows exactly what his role is. “I really do feel like the dad,” he says.

Celebrities / Meet The World's Fattest Woman Pauline Potter by doublekay: 5:38am On Sep 13, 2011
After reaching 700 pounds, Pauline Potter has officially entered the record books as the world's heaviest woman. But the 47-year-old from Sacramento, California, now says she wants to lose weight so she can enjoy every day life again. Mrs Potter had boasted that men think she is a 'sex goddess' and she has 'fantastic sex every day', but she now struggles with daily life and cannot turn over in bed or fit in her car.
She wants to lose as much as 500 pounds in order to be able to go dancing, go on road trips and fit in seats at the theatre. The world record holder, who currently weighs 643 pounds, blames her upbringing as the main reason for her size.
She said that being overweight is in her genes and that as a child there was an 'overabundance' of food.
'My mom was over 400 pounds and my dad over 600,' she said. 'I have eight siblings all which are over 300, except one.
We were just raised, that if it was happy we'd celebrate with food, if it was sad, oh you fell down and skinned your knee, here's ice-cream.'
Mrs Potter said that she has repeatedly postponed losing weight, but has decided it is now time to do something about her size as daily life is becoming very difficult and she has to rely on her son for help.
'Everything is difficult from getting dressed to taking a bath,' she said. 'To reaching, you know, I can't put my own socks on.
'As far as my daily activity I do, everything is very difficult and thank goodness I have a very good relationship with my son and he is very helpful. He helps me do anything that's difficult.'
The Californian mother tries to keep mobile by going to a warm water rehabilitation pool three to five times a week where she does laps.
But she has to use a mobility scooter to get around and can no longer get into her car.
Mrs Potter said that one of her problems is that she likes all foods, except sauerkraut and Brussels sprouts, and said she has food every one or two hours.
'I'd be happy at 200 [pounds] maybe 300 but probably more 200 would be my ideal weight,' she said
'I would be in seventh heaven. I could dance, I could go watch Baseball games, I could walk into a Theatre and sit in the seats, I could go on road trips again with my son, we could go to Reno and gamble.'
Mrs Potter is looking for a nutritionist and doctor to help her, but said she also has the support of her network of friends online.
'I have a lot of friends online,' she said. 'I go online there's a support group on there with other heavy friends, so we talk quite a bit online, we exchange phone numbers, we talk on the phone or we email.'
Mrs Potter said she regrets getting as big as she has and would not recommend her lifestyle to anyone.
'I don't even know how to say, it's not fun, it's not fun at all,' she said. 'There is no physical freedom.'
'As far as even rolling over in the bed. Thank goodness I have an electric hospital bed, and I can grab on to the bars to roll over.
'I am mobile to a certain extent but it's difficult. I just struggle every day to hang on to what little bit of mobility I have. It's very hard.'

Nairaland / General / Ghana: Man Stabbed To Death Over Suspected Adultery by doublekay: 3:53am On Sep 13, 2011
Nkwaseatan (Ash), Sept 10, GNA - A 62-year farmer has stabbed to death a colleague farmer he suspected of having sexual relationship with his wife. Kwabena Nkansah has been arrested and is being held by the police at Nyinahin.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Fosu, the Atwima-Mponua District Commander, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) said both the suspect and the deceased, Kofi Isaac, 32, are farmers at Nkwaseatan near Aboasokrom.

He said on Monday, September 5, at about 1300 hours, the suspect realizing that his wife was not at home, armed himself with a kitchen knife and went straight to the house of the deceased.

There he saw Asokwa in the room of Isaac. He then drew the knife and stabbed him in the chest to death.

Celebrities / Documents Show Real Reason T.i. Went Back To Prison by doublekay: 1:17am On Sep 13, 2011
Rapper T.I.'s furlough from prison was cut short last week because prison officials objected to his manager and a reality TV producer riding with him on a trip to a halfway house, according to a prison document.

"Such people were not authorized to travel with him in the conditions of his furlough," says a Bureau of Prisons report obtained by CNN. "He further indicated he was discussing a new reality series and a book with those individuals."

The two men whose presence was questioned by prison officials each said they and T.I. believed they were allowed to ride with him since they were on the prison's approved list of visitors.

Prison officials, who escorted T.I. to his bus the morning he was released, never told him only his wife could travel with him and he was never asked to list those who would be on board, said his defense lawyer, Steve Sadow.

U.S. marshals removed T.I. from an Atlanta halfway house and placed him in the federal prison in Atlanta a day after his release from the Federal Correctional Center in Forrest City, Arkansas.

It was initially believed prison officials objected to his use of a luxury tour bus for the trip from Arkansas to Georgia, but the furlough agreement T.I. signed specified only that he would travel in a "POV," a privately-owned vehicle.

The popular hip-hop artist, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., is serving an 11-month sentence for violating his parole on a gun conviction. Unless prison officials conclude he did not violate his furlough agreement, he is expected to stay locked up until that sentence is complete on September 29, documents indicated.

Bureau of Prisons officials are expected to review the suspension of his furlough, but it is not known when a decision might come, Sadow said Thursday.

T.I.'s manager, Brian Sher, sent a statement to prison officials explaining that he had no idea it was a violation of the furlough for him to accompany his client on the trip.

"It was clear to me that Mr. Harris believed that I was permitted to be with him on the trip back to Atlanta because I had been authorized to visit him and have contact with during his time in Forrest City," Sher said. "During my time with him on the ride back to Atlanta, no business was conducted with Mr. Harris."

Cris Abrego, a reality TV producer who was on the bus, wrote to prison officials that he also believed it was allowed since he "was on the authorized visitor list, and had visited with Mr. Harris a couple of times prior to his release."

A book and a VH1 series, which publicists announced the day of T.I.'s release, had been negotiated months before, his entertainment attorney, Jonathan Leonard, said in another letter to prison officials.

In case prison officials were miffed that their inmate was traveling in luxury, T.I.'s wife sent a letter explaining that his attorneys believed it was safer than a car because of expected media attention to his release.

"We felt this could cause an accident and jeopardize our and other travelers' safety," Tameka "Tiny" Cottle-Harris wrote. "We knew we had a long trip and did not want to create an unsafe situation as we traveled so we thought it was a good idea to travel by bus."

When T.I. walked out of prison on August 31, he tweeted, "The storm is over & da sun back out." He had been expected to complete the last weeks of his sentence in a community service center, or halfway house, in Atlanta.

VH1 announced the reality TV show soon after he boarded his bus. The as-yet-untitled 10-episode series, which will premiere in December, will show T.I. "as he re-adjusts to life as a free man after being incarcerated for nearly a year in a federal prison in Arkansas," VH1 said.

He was locked up behind the high walls of the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta the next afternoon.

The rapper served two stints in the Arkansas prison. He served seven months there in 2009 as part of an unusual sentence negotiated two years ago to resolve federal gun charges. Those charges followed his attempt to buy three machine guns in the parking lot of an Atlanta grocery store.

His latest time behind bars was triggered by his arrest, along with his wife, after a motorcycle officer stopped their car on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California, a year ago.

A police report said suspected drugs were found in the couple's car and they were both arrested on drug charges. While the charge against the rapper was later dropped, he failed a drug test given by his parole officer.

Celebrities / The Game Calls 50 Cent Gay On Twitter by doublekay: 1:06am On Sep 13, 2011
The Game has had a busy week. First a restaurant refused to seat him unless he wore sleeves and then he went on VLADTV and spouted a conspiracy theory about closeted homosexuals spreading AIDS to straight men.

Now he’s responded to TMZ’s criticism surrounding the VLADTV interview by tweeting “@TMZ but look around, shit I be surprised when I see someone who’s not GAY. My girl hair stylist is GAY & he kool. @50cent GAY n we was kool”

Oh snap. This is the equivalent of The Game raising his hand for a high five and then quickly pulling it back, nonchalantly combing his head with his hand and saying “Psyche!” to 50 Cent.

Considering 50 isn’t a fan of gays himself, expect a thoroughly thought out but poorly written, nonsensical response in 140 characters or less.

Crime / 9year Old Girl Battered By Her Madam, Raped On A Daily Basis By Grown Men by doublekay: 9:23am On Sep 12, 2011
The girl in these photos is 9year old Favour. You can see conspicuous marks of canes all over her body. Favour also has a blood-shot eye. Injuries inflicted on her by her madam, one Alhaja Amina Ukegbu, who she served as a house-help. She was also raped on a daily basis by grown men who lived in her madam's house,

The first incident that signaled this innocent girl's unpleasant journey in life began when she was three years-old, after her mother walked out on her father, leaving behind three children.

Unable to meet up with her upkeep, the little girl found herself in the home of her madam last year. But unknown to her, it was just the beginning of her traumatic experience.

Aside receiving severe beatings, allegedly from her madam and members of her household on a daily basis, it was also discovered that she was allegedly raped daily by two grown up men in the house.
The bubble burst last week after her aunt simply identified as Chioma visited, only to behold Favour in the shadow of herself, with marks all over her body.

Her aggrieved father was said to have contacted the Police, where the girl revealed how she was made to sleep on the balcony, from where two grown up men had canal knowledge of her on a daily basis, with a threat to deal with her if she told anyone.

Narrating how Favour found her self in her madam's Festac home, Chioma said, " Her mother left when she was three. My mother took custody of her and her two other siblings but when she could not take care of them, I had to take Favour. But because of financial constraints, I could not cope at a point because I have my ownchildren.

Then one of my friends, Ebere said she wanted to take Favour in November last year and I agreed. I never knew she had given her out to Alhaja Amina until recently and when I asked who the person was, she said the person was rich. I was glad because I concluded that at least, she would be able to go to school."
Asked where Favour's father was all the while, Chioma kept quiet and responded (in a low tone) that he neglected the children. Also asked if she was receiving any money from the said Alhaja, she responded in the negative. Asked again if she ever bothered to check on her niece while in Alhajia's place, she revealed that she visited there last week but did not see neither the madam nor Favour.
Continuing, she stated, "Last Monday, I received a call from Hajia, saying I should come and take Favour away before she would kill her. When I got there, I saw Favour with blood -stained eyes but I was told Hajia had travelled out of the country.

When I asked what was wrong with Favour, she lied that she had a domestic accident but Hajia's son told me one Aunty Oluchi beat Favour and was demonstrating how she was beaten. When I asked why, he said it was because she ate gala. While waiting, thinking Hajia would come, she called someone on the phone and instructed that Favour's property be given to her in order for her to leave. When I left there with Favour, I did not see any mark on her. It was her father that discovered the marks and called the Police."

Crime Alert reliably gathered that attempts were made to thwart the case at the police division. There were also reported threats on the policemen to drop the case. At this point, a Non Governmental Organisation, Rhode Haven, was contacted, from where the little girl sang her pathetic tale.

According to the organisation's project co-coordinator, Maria Jones, "she claimed she was raped on a daily basis by two men . She said they usually carried her from the balcony on the ground floor of the duplex which she was sleeping, while every other person had gone to bed.

They would take her to their room and have canal knowledge of her. This continued without the knowledge of Alhaja because she said Hajia was always travelling.
"If you look at her properly, you will notice that her left finger has disappeared and also, she has burns on her hand.

When we asked her, she said she was asked by one of Alhaja's relatives to boil water and when she was going to check, it poured on her. She gave the names of the boys who usually had carnal knowledge of her as Aboy and Japan.

The most pathetic aspect of it is that the girl claims she was never enrolled in any school. She told us that the last beating she received from her guardian's relatives was because she was hungry and ate gala without their permission. She said she was usually given food only in the morning and afternoon."
On further check , Jones stated that the girl's underwear was blood stained. She was thereafter taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, from where the result which was made available to Crime Alert, confirmed that the little girl's hymen had been tampered with.

Speaking with Crime Alert on the development, the National Human Rights Commission Zonal Coordinator, South west, Mrs Mausi Segun, informed that the little girl would be taken from the NGO soon. According to her, " we are interested in the child.

We are going to file a civil suite against those that raped her. Somebody has to answer to the question of the rape."

Meanwhile, Crime Alert investigation revealed that those suspected to have raped the little girl were initially arrested and detained at Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos but were later released on the orders of a top ranking police officer accused of trying to sweep the case under the carpet. There were also reported threats on the little girls' aunt's life, as she was accused of blowing the case out of proportion.
All these accusations, according to Segun, would be looked into. "We first deal with that of the AIG's office here and if he is not doing what he is supposed to do, we will take it to the IG's office", she stated

Nairaland / General / Online Crime: India 6th In Number Of Victims by doublekay: 2:35pm On Sep 10, 2011
A survey of 24 countries has found that India ranks sixth in the number of persons falling prey to online crime, with an estimated 80 per cent of those being Internet users. The survey conducted by the Norton Internet Securities revealed that across the globe there has been a loss of an estimated $4 billion in the past 12 months.

The report said Indian cyberspace has been targeted largely by cyber criminals and that these criminals now use local events such as the Indian Premier League matches, music concerts, national disasters, sporting events like cricket world cup etc to lure victims.

“Downloading games, wallpapers, greetings, screensaver pop ups and jingles could lead to a virus attack or other threats. Cyber criminals are also spreading malicious links through instant messaging, SMSes or email using familiar identities from contact list or address book,” said David Hall, Consumer Product Marketing Asia Pacific.

Cyber criminals can follow you on social networking and micro-blogging sites and track your communications which can be used for attack. The victim would come to know that they have been duped only after the transaction has been done.

A senior police officer said, “There have been several cases wherein people have been duped online and have lost huge amount of money. One should cross check the credentials while making transactions.” “After the victim has realised that he has been duped, the first thing he should do is change all the passwords and lodge a complaint.” he added.

Politics / 9/11: New York & Washington On High Alert Ahead As Al-qaeda Issue Terror Threat by doublekay: 2:31pm On Sep 10, 2011
Joe Biden, the Vice President, said US intelligence had "specific" information from a "credible source" that a plot involving "a car bomb" may be under way. However he stressed: "We don't have a smoking gun." Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, named al-Qaeda as being behind the suspected threat.

It came as The Daily Telegraph learned that MI5 has been advising New York authorities on securing the new World Trade Centre towers. It is understood that Security Service officials have given briefings on their experience of dealing with IRA vehicle bombs in London throughout the 1990s.

Both cities were increasing security last night ahead of ceremonies in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the attacks, which killed almost 3,000 people. President Barack Obama and former president George W. Bush are due to attend a ceremony at Ground Zero in Manhattan on Sunday.

Police checkpoints were in place on Manhattan streets. Officers *were increasing numbers on New York's transport network, making random checks on vehicles and bags, and monitoring airports, bridges and tunnels. Michael Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York City, said: "The NYPD, FBI and entire intelligence community have been on heightened alert".

It is thought that three people who entered the US by air last month, one of them a US citizen, are urgently being sought in relation to the suspected threat. However, their identities were not thought to be known last night, and officials continued to search arrivals lists.

Celebrities / Master P’s Baby Boy, Romeo, Proposes To Former Disney Tween Star by doublekay: 8:09am On Sep 09, 2011
Has Romeo found his Juliet? Apparently so. Her name is Demi Lovato. Romeo, the rapper, actor, and self-proclaimed ”legend” of Dancing with the Stars recently professed his love for singer Demi Lovato in a video that the paparazzi recorded. Going so far as to bend on one knee, the ringless rapper said Beyonce’s song ”Single Ladies/Put a Ring on It” inspired him to propose. He said to Lovato in the video: “You know, I listen to Beyoncé’s song, when she said ‘put a ring on it,’ so I got you!”

In the video, Romeo talks about having a lavish 50 million dollar wedding. He said: ‘We got a few toys at the house, we’ll have the best wedding. I’ll keep her out of trouble.” Of Lovato he said, “She needs a strong, solid man.” When asked what he had to offer her he joked, “Well, you know, once you go black, you never go back.”

Lovato—who went through a high-profile teen break-up with fellow Disney star, Joe Jonas, and was recently released from rehab after checking herself in for “personal issues”—has been quoted as saying, “Having a crush is better than having a boyfriend.” But that isn’t deterring Romeo.

Serious about his crush/proposal, he tweeted, “@ddlovato You’re kind of amaZing.” Romeo admits to having met Lovato three years ago at an amusement park. He said he had on a hoodie and was “chill”. When he told her to take his number, she did so, not recognizing that he was a celebrity. He added, “It was her smile that got me.”

Romeo clearly likes Demi Lovato–a lot; however, no additional news on Lovato’s response to the proposal is available. Romeo, whose real name is Percy Miller, Jr., is the son of the New Orleans rapper and millionaire mogul, Master P.

First Black Child On Earth Diagnosed With Heart Breaking Aging Disease
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The elfin child with the big personality and bright smile calls herself "the first lady" and dreams of the future.

But doctors say 12-year-old Ontlametse Phalatse has only, perhaps, another couple of years to live.

"I call myself a first lady because I'm the first black child with this disease ,  Which other black child do you know with this disease?" she challenged.

Ontlametse is the sole living black child diagnosed with progeria, a rare and fatal genetic condition that accelerates the aging process, the Progeria Research Foundation said. It was aware of two other black children ever diagnosed with the disease, who died in the United States and the Netherlands.

Nobody knows how many kids in the world have it, though experts estimate that between 200 and 250 children live with progeria at any one time. In a two-year campaign to identify them, the Progeria Research Foundation says the number of children diagnosed around the world has soared from 54 to 80 on five continents — a 48 percent increase.

The foundation's executive director, Audrey Gordon, says the only Africans diagnosed with the disease were found in South Africa and only two survive — Ontlametse and a 5-year-old white girl. That is probably because South Africa, an economic powerhouse, offers some of the best medical care on the continent. At least one other South African diagnosed, a white male, died in the past year.

Gordon says there are several black holes on the map in her office studded with colored tacks where they have found children living with progeria. "We know that there are children (with progeria) in Africa, in China and Russia, but we just can't seem to get to them," she said in a telephone interview from the foundation's office in Peabody, Massachusetts.

Ontlametse's mother, Bellon Phalatse, says her baby was born looking normal but that she realized early on that something was wrong. The baby suffered constant rashes and by the time she was 3 months old Phalatse thought she had a skin disease.

Before Ontlametse celebrated her first birthday "her hair was falling, her nails weren't normal, the skin problems, we were going up and down to the doctors."

As the child aged prematurely, her father abandoned the family when Ontlametse was 3 years old.

Despite her frequent illnesses, Ontlametse enrolled in school at 6 and proved a bright pupil. But she was often scorned by classmates, teachers and others who thought she was so small and skinny because she had AIDS. South Africa has the highest number of people living with AIDS of any country but the disease still carries a terrible social stigma.

"It was horrible, I don't know how to explain" what we went through, Phalatse said.

It was not until two years ago that a doctor friend suggested she have Ontlametse tested for progeria, and brought her a book about the disease.

It included pictures. Children with progeria look remarkably similar, despite different ethnic backgrounds: small and bald with oversized heads, eyes that bulge a bit, gnarled hands. They suffer from thinning skin which has a network of blue veins showing on the heads of white children. Ontlametse's veins bulge.

Phalatse said she knew immediately, and a doctor confirmed the diagnosis.

"I'm very happy now that I understand what causes progeria," Phalatse said.

The diagnosis came with the news that most children with the disease die at 13. But it also brought a better understanding of what they can do to try to prolong Ontlametse's life, and it has brought her the specialized care she needs.

Each school holiday, Ontlametse and her mom fly to the United States, where she participates in research funded by the Progeria Research Foundation at Children's Hospital Boston. It gives her access to cutting edge drugs that are not yet commercially available.

Back home, they struggle to feed her the required healthy diet. Phalatse is unemployed and the two survive on her daughter's government disability allowance.

Ontlametse is unfazed: "Sometimes when my mommy has money, she buys lettuce and cucumbers and I help her do salad."

At school, Ontlametse keeps her hat on her head, self-conscious of her bald head. One of the things on her wish list is a specially designed wig.

She has two friends in her class but says not all her classmates are kind, but it doesn't bother her.

"I don't care what people say about me," she says, making a throwaway motion with a hand misshapen with arthritis, knobby fingers and discolored nails.

In her rundown brick home in the small town of Hebron about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Johannesburg, Ontlametse ditches the hat. She does her homework, reading, watches TV and has daily chores like washing her socks and cleaning her shoes. She can't play sports or even a game of hopscotch because physical exercise tires her out.

Asked what she would like to be, she breaks into a big grin that shows irregular teeth.

"I would like to be a psychologist," she says, "so that I can work on the problems of other people and so that they can accept the way that they are because they can see that I accept the way I am."

That she would live that long would require a miracle. Children with progeria die almost exclusively from heart disease between the ages of 8 and 21, commonly suffering high blood pressure, strokes, angina, enlarged heart and heart failure.

Gordon said research into progeria has had remarkable success since her family founded the foundation in 1999, after her nephew was diagnosed with the disease.

In 2003, the foundation was instrumental in the discovery of the progeria gene. Now they hope it can help provide answers about the ordinary aging process and cardiovascular disease.

(This version CORRECTS Corrects that subject is only living black child with progeria, that other South African sufferers have died, and that numbers diagnosed worldwide rose from 54, instead of 48, to 80)

Buhari's 100 days in opposition had equally been a waste.

-Where are his opposition policies?
- Why hasn't he challenged PDP on their various promises?
- Why is his party not making bridges and inroads to the states where they performed woefully?
- Why hasn't his party carried out investigations of corrupt practices and policies?

They are as follows

Aug. 25, 2011 -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel was today placed by Forbes Magazine at the top of its annual list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.

Merkel, elected in 2005, is the first female chancellor of Germany. Daughter of a pastor and a language teacher, she studied physics at the University of Leipzig and learned to speak fluent Russian.

In these images, we look back at other historic women leaders, from ancient times to modern day.

Queen Hatshepsut (1503-1482 B.C.)
ne of the most successful pharaohs in Egyptian history, Queen Hatshepsut brought long-standing peace and wealth to Egypt, mostly due to successful military campaigns waged early on in her rule. That prosperity enabled her to initiate unprecedented building projects, such as monuments at the Temple of Karnak, which furthered architecture and the arts in the ancient world.

Cleopatra (69-30 B.C.)
everal female Egyptian leaders had the name Cleopatra, but the most famous was Cleopatra VII, ancient Egypt's last pharaoh. Before her tragic death -- likely by suicide to avoid capture and to maintain her own honor -- Cleopatra forged a liaison with Roman military and political leader Gaius Julius Caesar. After Caesar's assassination, she continued the alliance with Rome by entering into a relationship with Roman general Mark Antony, an influential Roman politician with whom she had twins.

Empress Theodora (500-548)
Although born into the lowest class of Byzantine society, Theodora was a beautiful, famous actress who wound up marrying Emperor Justinian I. As Empress, she strengthened the Eastern Christian Church and was later made a saint in the Orthodox Church. She also was well ahead of her time in supporting women's rights issues, by doing things such as establishing punishment for rape, granting women rights in divorce cases and allowing women to own and inherit property.

Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603)
The last monarch of the Tudor dynasty and a daughter of Henry VIII, Elizabeth I was perhaps the polar opposite of her mother, Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth never married and instead threw herself into her work. She prevented France from using Scotland as a military stronghold and blocked the Spanish threat to England. The peace and prosperity of her rule led to one of the greatest periods in English literature. Known as the Elizabethan Age, it produced such playwrights as Chrisopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare.

Catherine the Great (1729-1796)
As Empress of Russia, Catherine the Great extended the borders of the Russian Empire, adding some 200,000 miles to the Russian territory. Through successful military campaigns and negotiations, she made her country the dominant power in southeastern Europe. A believer in enlightened absolutism, she encouraged religious tolerance, freedom of speech, the arts and education.

Queen Liliuokalani (1838-1917)
The last monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii, Queen Liliuokalani fought to establish a constitution that would have granted voting rights to economically disenfranchised Native Hawaiians and Asians. A proponent of the traditional culture and her family's right to rule, Liliuokalani was viewed as a threat by some American and European leaders. She was arrested and jailed in 1895 and agreed to abdicate in return for the release of her jailed supporters. Hawaii was annexed to the United States in 1898 after the Spanish American War.

Golda Meir (1898-1978)
Having served as Minister of Labor and Foreign Minister, Golda Meir became the fourth prime minister of the State of Israel in the politically turbulent 1969-1974 period. She was an early negotiator between Palestinian Jews and British Mandatory authorities. In 1948, she also was one of the 24 signatories of the Israeli declaration of independence. After a courageous battle against cancer, Meir died in Jerusalem at the age of 80 after a lifetime of having served her people and her state.

Indira Gandhi (1917-1984)
or three consecutive terms from 1966-1977, Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India. Her leadership coincided with a very difficult period that altered the power between the central authorities and the Indian states. After a victorious war against Pakistan, she returned to office and became involved in an escalating conflict with Punjab separatists. This led to her assassination, by her own bodyguards, in 1984. Indira Gandhi was India's first and only female prime minister.

Eva Peron (1919-1952)
After a poor, abusive upbringing, Eva Duarte met and married Colonel Juan Peron, who later became President of Argentina. A strong individual in her own right, she tried to run for Vice President, but the establishment and her failing health prevented her from doing so. While dying from cancer at a young age, Eva Peron was given the honorary title, "Spiritual Leader of the Nation." Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber further immortalized her in his popular musical, "Evita."

Margaret Thatcher (1925-)
The daughter of a grocery shop owner, Thatcher officially began her political career in the 1950's, when she ran in various elections, such as local Labor seats, and slowly rose up the ranks. From 1979 to 1990, she served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and is the only woman ever to have held that position. From 1975 to 1990, she was also the leader of the Conservative Party. Again, she is the only woman to have ever held this position. With U.S. president Ronald Reagan, she helped define conservative politics that guided the western world's leadership for over a decade.

Violeta Chamorro (1929-)
From 1990 to 1997, Chamorro served as the 48th President of Nicaragua. To date, she is the only woman to have ever held that office. A member of the National Opposition Union, she was part of a coalition of 14 political parties that ran against the leftist Sandinistas. Although the alliance fell apart after her election to the presidency, Chamorro brought peace back to a country that had been at war for over a decade.

Corazon Aquino (1933-)
The widow of assassinated senator Benigno Aquino, Jr., Corazon Aquino bravely entered politics on her own after her husband's death. She served as president of the Philippines from 1986-1992 and was the first woman to hold that position. In rising to that office, she also became Asia's first ever female president. Facing numerous military coups, she still maintained her democratic principles. In 1987, a new constitution was drafted, leading to a government based on popular and democratic mandates. In 1986, Aquino was named Time Magazine's "Woman of the Year."

Wilma Pearl Mankiller (1945-)
The first female chief of the Cherokee Nation, Mankiller took on low-paying jobs with the Cherokee Nation to help her people. Entering leadership roles, she faced opposition from the male-dominated infrastructure. Desiring a more inclusive vision, she established community projects that brought men and women together. During her position as Chief, the Cherokee Nation's population increased from 55,000 to 156,000.

Aung San Suu Kyi (1945-)
For the Burmese people, Aung San Suu Kyi represents the lasting hope that there will one day be an end to the country's controlling military junta. As a pro-democracy campaigner and leader of the opposition National League for Democracy party (NLD), she has spent more than a decade in some form of detention under the country's military regime. In 1991 she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to bring democracy to Burma.

Benazir Bhutto (1953-2007)
he first woman elected to lead a Muslim state, Benazir Bhutto served as Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1993 to 1996. A graduate of Radcliffe College at Harvard University, Bhutto was an eloquent and passionate speaker who was loyal to her family and her people. She decried terrorist acts, which forced her to take a stance against the Taliban and its supporters. Hoping to initiate political reforms in Pakistan, she attended a political rally for Pakistan People's Party on December 27, 2007. While waving to the attending crowds, Bhutto was shot and killed by an assassin who blew himself up afterward. At least 20 other people also died in the tragedy.

'It's important for them to have space': Petra Ecclestone bought Candy Spelling's £52m mansion so her dogs can live in comfort

She had claimed it was to let her spend time between Britain and America more easily.

But now Petra Ecclestone has revealed the real reason why she bought her £52million Los Angeles mansion - so her miniature dogs can have more space.

The 22-year-old has admitted that concern for her five pets was why she splashed out her father’s money on the 14-bedroom property.

Even though she already has a six-story £56 million mansion in Chelsea, Ms Ecclestone felt that they deserved more room to live, she said.

Now that the dogs have homes on two sides of the Atlantic, they are beginning to rival their owner - once dubbed ‘the most spoilt girl in Britain’ - for over pampering.

The Los Angeles property is a sprawling 57,000 square foot house called The Manor which was built by the late TV producer Aaron Spelling who was responsible for such shows as Dallas and Charlie’s Angels.

Built in the style of a French chateau it is located in the exclusive Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles.

It has a huge garden in the front and the back, a swimming pool and a double staircase that was inspired by one featured in ‘Gone with the Wind’.

In an interview Ms Ecclestone said that she persuaded her father, billionaire Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, to buy her the property because she thought it was ‘homey and livable’

‘I didn’t want a modern kind of house,’ she said. ‘It was a great investment at the end of the day’.

Ms Ecclestone added that she had to also think about her miniature dogs.

‘It’s important for them to be able to have space,’ she said.

The pets include a Rottweiler and a Bulldog which will now apparently feel more comfortable having even more room to wander around.

Ms Ecclestone is currently living at the mansion with new husband James Stunt, 28, whom she married last month at a lavish ceremony at 15th Century Odescalchi Castle in Italy where the entertainment was provided by Eric Clapton and the Black Eyed Peas.

The property had been sold by Mr Spelling’s widow Candy, mother of actress Tori Spelling. When it was first listed in 2009 it was the most expensive property on sale in America at the time.

Its other features include a beauty salon, several gift-wrapping rooms, a spectacular dining room and a huge entrance lobby with chandeliers around which snakes the Gone with the Wind staircase

In the interview Ms Ecclestone said that moving to Los Angeles had given her a chance to settle down and work on being a fashion designer.

‘My full-time job isn’t just blowing my parents’ money,’ she said.

‘I go to the occasional party, if it benefits my business, or it’s a charity, or a friend’s party, that’s fine.

‘But, I mean, it’s not like I go to parties Monday to Friday. I’m not on the social scene, particularly.’

Ms Ecclestone is not the first in her family to make adjustments to her property in order to accommodate their pets.

Her sister Tamara, 27, has reportedly spent £10million on renovations to her new £60million home in Kensington in West London including a spa for her dogs.

The bubbling bath apparently includes crystal-studded seats for the pets to lounge on.
