First of all, Barca should embrace the fact that success in clubs is not permanent. We saw Real Madrid go down for a long time.
Barca needs to look at Real Madrid and ask a question.
What did they do right?
Simple. They changed the head. Florentino Perez love Real Madrid and has his vision for the club. Since Perez left Real, they struggled. His return has seen Real back as the best team in the World.
Since the departure of Laporta, Wrong decisions trailed Barca. Which is critical to success.
Xavi has been the pillar of Barca and Spain. Since '99 in Nigeria where Spain won their first international trophy. Barca had the perfect replacement in Thiago Alcantara. They let him go instead of replacing Xavi.
Txiki Bergiristian. He is now the technical director of Man City. Laporta said making Txiki the technical director of Barca was the smartest decision he made. You can see the impact of Txiki in Man City. Including the development of Man City Academy.
The faith in the La Masia academy needs to be restored.
So bringing Laporta back is the critical action that needs to be taken at Barcelona FC. With that, more right decisions will lead the club back on track.
I totally agree. Nice one!

Sports › Gerrard Leaving Liverpool! A Repeat Of Lampards Heroics At City? by doublezero7(op): 9:59am On Jan 02, 2015
After Liverpool's disappointing 2-2 draw against Leicester City at Anfield, the major talking point was Stephen Gerrard. A lot of persons were of the opinion that his time in the Liverpool squad is over! Jamie Carragher, Gerrard's childhood friend was of the opinion that it was time to walk. Pundits all over England advised that the Liverpool great should call it a day with the club. The opine that with Captain Fantastic being dropped for crucial games (against Madrid for instance) and the fact that Henderson is being pushed out right to accommodate Gerrard, the best decision for both club and player is to path ways.
However, I beg to disagree. Why? I see a potential Frank Lampard's case in the offing.
Stephen Gerrard is considered as one of the greatest players to play for Liverpool (along with King Kenny Daglish and Robbie Fowler). Not only that, no one at Anfield presently knows the club better that Stephen Gerrard. Not the coach and definitely not the owners. Why would a player like that be allowed to leave?
The claim that playing Gerrard pushes Henderson out wide of the central midfield is unnecessary! I believe this is something that the coach can easily address. The two players will complement each other if played at the centre midfield. This isn't sufficient reason not to keep Gerrard.
In the present Liverpool squad, Gerrard is one of the best players in the squad (along with Sturridge and Sterling). In the past 18 months, he seems to be better with his age. The stats are a testament to this fact. Gerrard's passing accuracy (86%) is his best in the Premier League than at any stage of his career. His 13 assists last season was his personal best for the club. Even his 13 goals was his second best (behing his 16 goals in th 08/09 season). Gerrard thrived playing behind Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling. That Liverpool squad were a delight to watch.
I make bold to say that Liverpool's problem isn't Gerrard (or Balotelli). Liverpool's problem is not spending well after selling Suarez. Losing the team's best player in the previous season demoralized the team. They brought in new player who have struggled to adapt. That's not Gerrard's fault.
Finally, I see a potential Frank Lampard's case here. He played so well for Chelsea over the years but was deemed too old to continue and was let go. Lampard signed for a club in the MLS and was loaned back to Man City. He has been decisive for the club ever since. Scoring important goals (scored against Chelsea...remember?) and making assists. The interesting thing is that, he isn't even a starter in the team. Most Chelsea faithfuls are disappointed seeing him play so well for City. But that's what you get by letting your hero's go for nothing. The same issue happened to AC Milan and Andrea Pirlo. He is still playing at the highest level for Juventus. Giggs was appreciated at United, and now he's the assistant coach there. Paulo Maldini, Carles Puyol, Xavi? Their clubs repaid their loyalty! Need I say more?
Liverpool should learn from the above. They should keep the legend and let him enter the game as a sub to get the decisive goal or assist...just like Lamps is doing for Man City.
What's your own opinion?

THE TOT OF NYSC IS REPULSIVE. ONE WASTED YEAR.
You might be right!
For one year of ones existence to be wasted,it means the individual wants it that way! Once you decide you don't want one year of your life to be wasted,it won't! Besides, the compulsory one year is a blessing in disguise! I'm not a fan of serving my country that has decided not to serve me for a year but the sooner we realize that the program is meant to help us, the better.
For 4 or 5 years, we're busy studying to make it out of school in one piece. How else would you prefer to prepare yourself for the harsh pre-graduation situations. The labour market...even being an entrepreneur requires you to have prepared yourself a certain way! The idea of going away for one year seemed crazy to me! I was posted to Niger state but I deferred. Right now, I've decided to go through with this.
I don't know of any other person, but I'll make the best use of my one year! I'll touch the lives of everyone I come across during my service. I'll open myself to business ideas and I'll come out of this a better, richer, successful young man!

Sports › January 1st EPL Fixtures Predictions by doublezero7(op): 1:07pm On Jan 01, 2015
Stoke vs Man UTD:
Man UTD should win! They are on the back of wonderful results. LVG has returned stability to the team. Stoke aren't playing badly either, but when push comes to shove, United would pull through! Expect a good game from Juan Mata, Michael Carrick and the foward guys if selected. The forwards for Stoke would definitely trouble United's defenders. But David De Gea would be decisive again.
Prediction: 1-3

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace
This should potentially be anybody's game. It might be worse for Palace considering the uncertainties as regards their manager. Aston Villa would do enough to pick up the win in front of their home fans though.
Prediction: 1-1

Hull vs Everton
Both teams are struggling at the moment. Everton's woeful season seems to continue with injuries to a number of their key players. Hull are desperately in need of the points too. So expect a moment of creativity from players of either teams to steal the win. It won't be a stroll in the park.
Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool vs Leicester
Liverpools season is beginning to pick up and you can bank on the team picking up a win at home. Raheem Sterling was fortunate to avoid being banned and he will be the teams main attacking threat alongside Lallana. Mignolet is back in the team which could possibly be the let down. Expect Leicester City to trouble the goal in a while.
Prediction: 3-1

Man City vs Sunderland
The champions have been ravaged by injury in the final third but have managed to pull througfh games. Except for the last match again Burnley. With Lampard staying till the end of the season, expect City to push Chelsea to the end of the season. Sunderland is capable of springing a surprise however. A draw would be their priority.
Prediction: 4-1

Newcastle vs Burnley
The post Alan Pardew-era has officially begun. A tough match between the two teams is in the offing. Newcastle recent home form should see them pull through with a decisive win. Cisse would be missed though.
Prediction: 2-0

QPR vs Swansea
QPR are desperate to remain in the EPL bearing in mind the disgrace of the last time they were relegated. Swansea would complicate things for them with Wilfred Bony the main man. Bony is expected to move away with Man City and Liverpool monitoring the situation.
Prediction: 2-1

Southampton vs Arsenal
The match of the day by all standards. Koeman's team would want to make a statement of intent by getting a win at home. Arsenal meanwhile, would want to keep the pressure for the top 4 up by getting a valuable win.
Prediction-2-2

West Ham vs West Brom
Big Sam's team are high on morale at the moment. The same cannot be said for the Baggies who are without a coach. The match would be won and lost in the midfield and attack positions. So expect fireworks from Upton park.
Prediction: 3-2

Tottenham vs Chelsea
Another contender for match of the day. Spurs would want to get the better of Mourinho's side in this one. However,it seems like a suicide mission. Expect Chelsea to get a win. If not, thank Hugo Lloris.
Prediction: 1-3

Thanks...

I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with your opinion about Pique being a bad player when he arrived from Manchester United. He was a good player when he was re-signed. No wonder Guardiola paired him up with Puyol straight up. Even though we had players with lots of experience on the bench.
Sports › Re: What Is The Way Forward For Barcelona? by doublezero7(m): 9:17am On Dec 31, 2014
By now,I think it is pretty obvious Barcelona is a whole lot different from from Real Madrid. We don't just buy players for the sake of buying. This last transfer window, the club (not just Andonni) panicked. They bought liabilities. I can bet that there are players in the B team that would comfortably replace the players bought. The club knows this.
They panicked and got players they do not need. Except for Suarez, Bravo and Rakitic, the rest aren't of Barcelona's standard.
Sports › Re: What Is The Way Forward For Barcelona? by doublezero7(m): 8:04am On Dec 31, 2014
(On the pitch)
When FC Barcelona gets desperate and sign players, they pay exorbitant fees for average players who wouldn't even make the first team. Last transfer window, millions of pounds was spent on Vermalaen, Mathieu, and Douglas. These three aren't even of Barca's standard. We made the same mistake we make every season wen we go through a difficult season.

(Off the pitch)
The administrators are also messing with the club a whole lot. The elections is around the corner and all the issues cropping up now is the work of these politicians. They should let the board work and we'll see the best of FC Barcelona again.

This transfer ban is probably for the greater good. Let the club make use of the La Masia. That is why it is the best in the world. And you guys would not believe that we have great defenders too. These players already know the philosophy of the club and would fit in into the first team in no time. I rest my case.
Sports › Barcelona Would Rule The World Despite Ban. by doublezero7(op):
Barcelona would rule the world despite ban.

"Real Madrid can rule La-liga for the next 2 years. Barca would suffer barren spell till 2017." Those were the words of Carlo Garganese of Goal.com after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld FIFA's decision as regards the two-window transfer ban on FC Barcelona after being found guilty of signing underaged players from outside Spain. I believe that this development will eventually prove to be a blessing in disguise for Barcelona.

Carlo Garganese argument is based on the fact that the club squandered the bulk of the €150 million spent on the players signed were spent well. For instance, €40 million spent of both Thomas Vermaelen and Jeremy Mathieu was "a total waste of money." I am compelled to agree with Mr Carlo, considering the fact that the former of the duo hasn't made a single appearance for the Catalan club this season. And with Montoya and Dani Alves all tipped to leave at the end of season, the right back position is all left with the inexperience Douglas.

The centre -back position isn't strong as well! The 27-year old Gerrad Pique is past his best and the men brought in to help cover are not making a case for themselves. All other positions seems stable at the moment. But the question is if Barcelona's thin squad can challenge for titles considering the strength of other contenders such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich. The answer is No. These teams have world class starters and substitutes. Unlike Barca's inexperienced bench which comprises of Munir, Sandro and the likes.

However, I think FC Barcelona can rule the La-Liga and the world for a long time...only if they can pick up strength from inwards. And by inwards, I mean the famed La Masia. After the reign of Frank Rijkard, Pep Guardiola came in and decided to discard most of the 'senior players'. Pep sold Ronaldinho and brought in Messi, sold Deco and brought in Busquet (and also reinstated Xavi and Iniesta), sold Marquez, released Milito and bought Gerad Pique from Manchester United, etc. Also, he brought in young players from the B team and academy to fill in spots. 22 of those made their debuts under Pep. For emphasies, He built his team around Sergio Busquet, Pedro, Bojan Krkic, Gio Dos Santos, Gai Assulin, Thaigo Alcantara, Muniesa and the most important of all Lionel Messi. No wonder the La Masia is regarded as Pep Guardiola's biggest and best legacy.

For a period 4 (four) years, Guardiola's team won an unprecedented 14 trophies as coach of Barca. He did this because he went back to the basics. Guardiola's team ruled the world for 4 years.

The present Barcelona team is getting old. It is time to re-build this team around the young talents in the B team and the La Masia. Alen Halilovic, Sandro Ramirez, Sergi Samper, Jean Maria Dongou, Munir El Haddadi and the rest. It is important to note that I am not saying the present crop of first team players should be ultimately discarded. But some of the old hags should be replaced by these new talents and headed by Lionel Messi, Neymar, Busquet, etc. With a coach like Luis Enrique who knows the club, I am certain that FC Barcelona would not only rule La-Liga but the team would rule the world for years to come. Copy that Mr Carlo Garganese.
