Nice. 2 of my brothers will be going for the same program. Plan was to have them leave on the 18th but 25th sounds good too.

Sent you a PM.

Is there anyone going to Middlesex University September and will like to get a shared apartment close to campus?

Please help
What are the questions asked at the interview in polytechnics Mauritius
Who has done theirs
Should help me

The interview is pretty laid back. 15 minutes max. They basically want to have you communicate in English.

You'll be asked to give a short Introduction. You'll also be asked about the program you applied for and why. And then random questions depending on the interviewer. The interviewer will tell you if they are satisfied with your language skills and when to expect a decision.

All the best.

Honestly, this question is so unnecessary. No one can say for sure. Contact the embassy and ask to be granted an emergency appointment.

They'd be in the best position to answer your question.

Cheers.

My passport photographs is not getting accepted.. can I submit the ds160 form without attaching a passport photograph ?

Please don't! You'd be made to fill another DS-160 and that would cause you issues when you get to the VO!

Hi Guys,

For Guys going in for their interviews, please have a "Strong, Convincing but short answer" to the following questions:

Why are you going to the US?
Why you not pursuing it here in Nigeria?
How did you hear of this school?
Why this course?
Will you be specializing?
Tell me about it?
What will an MSC do for you?
How many schools did you apply to?
Name them?
What is the relationship between all these schools?
Why did you choose this school?
Did you take any standardized test?
What did you score?
Who is sponsoring you?
What does he/she do?
Where would you be staying over at the university?
Tell me your about study plan?
Plans after graduation?
will you be receiving a monthly stipend?
Do you have an idea how much that is?
when did you finish University?
What have you been doing since then?

General Tips:
1. Do not cram your answers but have an idea of all you are going to say. Easier that way to build your sentences when you forget what you planned to say.
2. While waiting on the queue, listen to all the questions asked by the VOs to applicants ahead of you and build strong answers there on the queue (if you did not prepare for such questions)
3. Do not fret, do not let the numerous blue papers issued out make you lose your confidence
4. Do not answer what you are not asked.
5. If you have funding or impressive GRE/GMAT/SAT scores, please try to talk about your scores in one of your answers early in your interview. Please be reasonable.
(VO: How are you?
You: I have funding/ I scored 326/340) OYO oooo
6. Do not set yourself up. Dont start talking too much on things you do not have knowledge about, it will lead to more questions.
7. PRAY LIKE YOU NEVER PREPARED
PREPARE LIKE THERE'S NO GOD.

Goodluck

Part 13 advice from my oga, Tolatof for president! grin

Good morning guys , please my interview is on Tuesday and I’ve been practicing hard . I feel prepared , and can answer any question I’m asked but my problem is tension , nervousness and fear . Please how can I get myself to relax during the interview , i don’t want my voice to be shaky and appear nervous. I really want to be calm , doesn’t anyone have tips on what I can do or even take to be calm ?

Honestly, you would be nervous! But you have to make a conscious effort to conquer that after you say your first words to the VO. A very good transcript is useless if the delivery on the D-day is poor.

So ask yourself, how much do you want this? See this as the only opportunity to convince the VO that you're a genuine student. When you understand the gravity of your appointment at the embassy/consulate, your nervousness has got to disappear.

On the other hand, you can decide to pretend that the interview isn't a big deal and maybe you'll feel better.

I wish you the very best dear! smiley

Hopefully, they'd respond.

Jeez!! Sorry about this bro. This error keeps repeating itself with Abuja Embassy. I guess all those experiencing this issue went to abuja embassy. Please put a call across to them. It's really frustrating

I think its an Abuja embassy thing. I would have appreciated if they called us to re-interview than this nonsense they're doing. It is highly unprofessional.

Hopefully, the issue would be corrected. Also, I'd try to call the embassy tomorrow morning.

In other word, this thread could be under monitoring. My intuition has been pressing on this for about 3 days now. But I am not saying this is the reason for back-door refusal as we can call what some students are experiencing right now. I strongly believe it is system error. Imagine a lady who was refused recently and on her profile there is "your passport is still with us"...passport they never really took from her in the first place. Maybe they need to change their client, that is, the GCI. It is messing up! And it is annoying!

I think it is interesting how things are at the embassy. After the grilling, it is impossible to now decide after some hours that the person isn't eligible without contacting the bank.

All things being equal, we will keenly be watching.

The embassy--when they actually want to verify a bank statement--doesn't contact the branch the statement is issued; they contact the bank headquarters. I am talking from insider's knowledge of how they do this. For your visa to show refused, it must have been system error. When you go pick your passport tomorrow, there will be visa on it. Don't stress your peace!

Hopefully it is a system error bro. The issue is just embarrassing to even talk about.

It appears Abuja embassy is becoming a scare and a no-go area for visa interviews. This is so unprofessional of them- doling out White Papers and going behind the scene to act the opposite.

Let's watch and see how all these will pan out in the end. 3 "refusals" in quick succession. Hopefully, it turns out to be a glitch as witnessed by a member here few days ago.

I don't know what to make of this development bro. Let me just sit and watch. Whatever they decide would be God's plan for me.

I hope it is a system error as people have said. smiley

Okay. So I just checked my status and it says refused.

My mom's account officer is sure the embassy did not contact the bank.

Can someone kindly explain what in God's name is happening, please!

Well it is my earnest prayer it changes to issued. If not, I don't really know how to categorize this kind of thing by the embassy really. Home ties BS after the whole interview?? Why not decide the persons fate there and then rather than giving somebori false hope
Not good enough. They should give another excuse pls. It can't be well with our leaders I swear.. Either in this life or the life after. Who will be going to those countries if things dey aiit here. Am vexed walahi embarassed

Honestly, i am sureprised! There should be a reason why someone who was previously approved pending an account verification would be refused. I heard it is a normal thing with the US embassy. Hopefully, the status would change and all this would be an error.

Hello house, I am a new member here.

My visa was approved at the Abuja embassy yesterday pending an account verification. I just checked my status now and it says refused. I am 100% certain that the account is genuine because i went with my uncle to pick it up at the bank. I also got a mail with the normal refusal letter to go pick my passport at DHL.

Please could this be an error or i should i call the embassy for clarification. Please who has been in my shoes before.

Thank you.

Wow! This is so surprising. Like someone advised, be calm and lets hope it's an error.

All is well sir.
