Ebola did not kill up to one quarter of lassa befor it was eradicated.

Someone wake up the Minster of health from slumber.
The monkeys that transmit Ebola don't reside with us so it's more of human to human transmission while the vector of lassa fever is rats, and they are everywhere. So they are 2 different things entirely and lassa fever will be more difficult to control in a short while.

That Wing commander definitely had psychosis during that act...I saw the video where he was shouting like a thug with his shirt unbuttoned.
He is a certified coward, flexing his muscle on an unarmed woman.
He is a psychopath, punching the face of his female neighbour.
He's a goner, because MDCN will definitely suspend his practicing license as he swore not to bring disrepute to the medical profession.

Ladies, if you go to hospital to check your private organs, try ask for a female doctor to avoid this...
I dont know if I should tell my husband about this or just swallow it to avoid problems. I went to a hospital close at Alausa to check for chest lumps. A very young doctor came strolling in to the office. He looked so young...but I decided to keep cool as he was wearing white and was actually assigned to me by the admin at the general waiting area.
The hospital was actually recommended by my sister in-law who had her mammogram there. It was my first time and I was very uncomfortable when he asked me to remove my top and bra and http://www.bclems.com/2016/02/lady-cries-out-i-went-to-doctor-for.html
Mtsheww. ..fake story. And even in a real life situation, how will a doc examine a breast for lumps without touching it? Compose better fiction for your blog joh, we are not cretins.

The boy was taken there for circumcision in the morning by His mother. Nothing was wronged with the boy at all. What led to the death of the baby was an injection one of the doctors gave him...Because immediately after receiving the injection, things turned worse for the unfortunate and innocent boy until he breathed his last breath. ..

I am still pained by the sad event. It was purely an avoidable death if only the quack doc didn't killed the boy. ...I doubt if we still have sound doctors again in this country because it seems to me they have all left for greener pastures...
What a sad story. You see, medicine is dynamic and not predictable and a drug will be used and accepted because it worked well in 99% of those the drug is tested with.
The same drug can cause a Fatal reaction in 0.1% of the population, and such an instance is definitely not the fault of the doctor, it's the fault of nobody and that's WHY THERE'S NO IDEAL DRUG ON EARTH. But sadly, and because people are not well informed, they blame the doc or nurse and label them quacks.

I just pray we don't fall victims of idiosyncratic drug reactions, Amen.

The doctors were not incompetent.

Renal failure can occur as a complication in surgical operations

Add the fact that the woman had an emergency CS ....which means there was a pre-existing problem that could have caused the issue.
Thanks for your posts. You have said the truth. In my opinion, the woman has underlying kidney disease before hand because acute kidney failure won't warrant repeated dialysis and a transplant. Only chronic kidney failure or END STAGE RENAL DISEASE will warrant such dialysis and a transplant. And CRF or END STAGE RENAL DISEASE TAKES AT LEAST 3 MONTHS TO DEVELOP.

Too bad she's going through all these, I pray they get the funds for a transplant.

Bros, here's the thing. Nigerian doctors are good, no doubt. They are well trained. But they are very negligent in practice here in Nigeria. When they get abroad, they dare not try the nonsense they try here. They know it!

BTW, don't believe what Obama said o. You know why? America has doctors from all over the world. Do you now the number of physicians who sit for USMLE annually and get rejected? So many Nigerian doctors still apply year and get turned down. Same with other countries. The country that pays doctors the highest salary is Australia. So if Naija doctors leave America, new ones go fill the space sharp sharp. Many doctors are scrambling for spaces there o.
Yh, there are cases of negligence in Nigeria and in every part of the world.
There are also many Nigerian doctors who work hard and are full of empathy and compassion but nobody talks about them in the news or elsewhere. It is only when a case of supposed negligence is raised (which may be true or just mischief) that everyone withdraws his/her axe and begin to ax all docs, including those who are selfless.

Oga stop misleading people. You are a liar. No body is complaining about basic salary.those medical doctors cheated other paramedic in allowances. Imaging giviñg paramedic 20 to 23k as call allowance compare to 60 to 65 k for doctors call allowance. That is a great injustice.
The major problem of you people is that you always look down on paramedics.
Remember am talking with experience. I see it by myself.
Imaging hearing doctors telling radiographer that what they know is to snap picture, pharmacy as drug counter.
Call allowance is paid per call. So the more calls you do, the higher your pay. Doctors get a stipend for call allowance even at that. Don't let people feed you with all sorts of info, learn to dig the truth yourself. Have a nice day, thanks.

I am not a doctor nor a nurse but i know by experience that a patient's life is safer in the hands and care of nurses than all those lazy and quack doctors in all the teaching hospitals in nigeria. A lot of people have died and still dying because of carelessness of these doctors who cant even practice abroad because their licences will be seized and litigation by patients will send them to jail. Local champions
Lol. Do your research well. Obama said if Nigerian doctors leave the US, it'll affect their health sector significantly. Nigerian doctors are known for their good works worldwide, even though there will be a bad few as it is worldwide. Most of them left this country because of bad working conditions and hate speech like yours. Please, change and urge the government to change too. Thanks.

Another medical doctor bashing thread.
These people going on strike are not medical doctors. Nurses who went to the university too are not part of them.

Bishop4bella:
This thread needs to be moved to front page.
There is a big magine between medical doctors and other health workers.

I'll advise our government to look into this matter because not everyone have the interest of becoming a medical doctor.

Take for instance an house officer take home is more than level 11officer and prefencial treatments is just too much.

JOHESU leaders as well fight for their selfish interest. I could vividly remember 2014/2015 strike was a waste of time. JOHESU went for three months strike only to call it off when their personal pocket enrich.

The question is... Hope this strike will not waste of life(s)?
No sir, you are misinformed. A house officer (doctor) is on an equivalent of CONHESS 9 while med lab scientists and pharmacy interns are on CONHESS 8 Salary scale. And that is very fair if you ask me..

It's really funny that other health workers like lab scientists, pharmacists, porters, hospital cleaners, security etc come together and decide to go on strike because they are not receiving the same salaries and allowances as doctors.
Nigerians need to start behaving civil and Noble really. We can't be misbehaving in the name of unionism asking for equal salary with people who we had completely different training with...Even Albert Einstein said the worst form of inequality is trying to make unequal things equal.

Am currently experiencing this only that mine extends to pains in my shoulders and hands, I also feel this tightness in the chest that makes me uncomfortable and throw up.

Am tired of going to the hospital and taking drugs cos I've not seen any improvement.
What drugs were you given?
HealthRe: I Need Help: I Do Experience Chest Pain But Not A Smoker by DrAdonis: 8:41pm On Jan 05, 2016
OP, I'll have stable angina and panic attack as the differential diagnosis. Interaction with you can help cone down the final diagnosis.

Answers to the following questions can help; are you overweight? what triggers the pain (exercise, emotion, cold weather? )? what relieves the pain (rest?)? do you have a feeling of impending doom when the episode is on? There are so many questions. The best you can do is go to a hospital for proper evaluation. You may have to do some tests like ecg/exercise ecg, nd other cardiac stress tests amongst others. Please, go to the hospital.

HealthRe: His Wife Have High Blood Pressure by DrAdonis: 1:05am On Dec 26, 2015
She should see a qualified doctor for proper management. In addition to that, there are various lifestyle modifications that are necessary. Some include:
-performance of regular moderate physical activities
- maintenance of normal body weight
- limitation of alcohol consumption
-reduction of dietary sodium (salt) intake
-consumption of a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products and reduced in saturated fat and total fat
-stop smoking (if you do)

Remember, she might not be having any symptoms now but uncontrolled hypertension can cause so many serious negative live changing conditions like stroke, heart failure etc. So consult a qualified doctor.
HealthRe: Doctors should read this : Blood pressure management rethink. by DrAdonis: 12:44am On Dec 26, 2015
Resounding findings from a large study but I have my reservations about giving treatment for hypertension to people who are not hypertensive but only have risk factors.

1. There are many risk factors for hypertension, so which ones will be put into consideration? For instance, having hypertensive first degree relatives is a risk factor, so should I be placed on antihypertensives because my mum and dad are hypertensive? Same with age, will all old aged people be placed on the drugs? Definitely NO! So the inclusion criteria is not well spelt out as 'risk factors' is quite vague.

2. Many hypertensive people have had their high blood pressures return to normal without taking any drug but with lifestyle modifications like a low sodium/salt diet, regular aerobic exercise, weight loss etc. So I don't think the first line treatment for people at risk or with the disease should be drugs.

3. For people with modifiable risk factors like smoking, obesity, excessive alcohol intake etc, the emphasis should be elimination of those risk factors (to prevent the hypertension and other diseases) and not treatment of an anticipated hypertension.

My 2 cents.
Thanks for the sharing the article.
PoliticsRe: Breaking,FG Announces Fuel Subsidy Removal, Says Fuel Price Will Reduce by DrAdonis: 12:13am On Dec 26, 2015
They should ensure fuel is available first and stop bugging us with all these numbers. In ilorin where I am, there's no fuel and the city is littered with black marketers who sell fuel at 200-300 naira per liter.

We are tired of all these stories. We just want fuel. Even when the price of crude oil was high, if subsidy was removed we wouldn't buy PMS as high as we presently do.

HealthRe: Pics: Women Storm Lagos Assembly Over Deaths Of Pregnant Women In Lagos Hospital by DrAdonis:
Oh, that woman who's story was in the news a while ago. Too bad. The news headline tho. I thought almost all the pregnant women taken to Lagos hospitals end up dead or something.

I think the government should ensure there's always a doctor on call whether during the day or at night in all government health facilities.

The problem is that the government (L.Gs) won't want to spare extra money to pay doctors in the primary health level for night calls and all. Any doctor found there at night is just doing charity work and those that go when called are also just being charitable as it's not part of what they're employed for and they could as well be working elsewhere at night. That's why those health centres rarely have a doctor at night. The uninformed populace sadly don't know about this and they keep taking their relatives there at night since they are hospitals.

And in most hospitals, blood donation during antenatal care is compulsory. That's a laudable idea IMO as it makes blood readily available if there's excessive bleeding following delivery.
