We have 6GPZs in Nigeria,if you search the thread properly,it has been discussed so many times,the SouthWest,SouthSouth and the SouthEast are all considered as SOUTH while the NorthWest,NorthCentral and the NorthEast are all considered as NORTH in which you have to choose 4 states excluding your state of origin and the the state where you schooled,as at last batch,they were to choose 2northern and 2 southern states.
I do hope this explain all,but if you have any other questions please feel free to ask,we've got some gurus that will do justice to that.

@Yunisa001,thanks for that great post,with due respect i really doubt the "if you're from southeast,you can't choose any southeastern states again"for real?as well as the"7 Geo-political zones and Lagos regarded as one Geo-political zone"my brother,i believe that's not correct and can never be true,I spent 5years studying Geography so the GPZs to me is like A,B and C.
I stand to be corrected though as we're all a learner,again,your information i respected so much.

In my opinion, the truthful and hurtful answer is a NO!

Why? Our Mindsets - especially at the level of LEADERSHIP.

It is an obvious fact that the ship called Nigeria is under the control/leadership if two forms of leadership - the figurehead leaders and THE CABALS.

Although the leadership "might" want to diversify, the CABALS (who even dictates to the figurehead leaders) doesn't want this diversification as it would have a negative hit on thier revenues. That makes the figurehead leadership still get over-dependent on oil.

Until we get rid of the CABALS and the figurehead leadership changes their orientation, i don't see Nigeria depending less on OIL.

But the unfortunate truth is...i don't see that happening yet. Not until oil totally loses its value.
