ICaSNg: Hi all.
Been a while I dropped additional / updated information here:
1. For Irish study permit effective since !st of May, 2019 , you can apply 4 months before your program start date; This is to allow enough time to process an appeal if the need arises.
2. While most Universities and Colleges require Full Tuition payment before proceeding for visa application, the Embassy advises that if your Institution accepts a partial payment make sure you pay at least 80 percent of that amount before visa application - The reason for this is that those you paid partial fees for Last September i.e 2018, most international students still have not paid the balance of their tuition as at April. We tend to misuse opportunities, very soon Irish universities too will be like UK unis, once you don't pay your balance by January they will block your access to student portal- simple
3. For those interested in Data Analytics without computing background i.e degree, NCI now requires you to write an online test; however if you have professional qualifications in core IT / data related certifications you may get an offer from NCI . However, DBS is an alternative college or Griffith* My advise however is that do not jump on IT programs in Ireland because they have a better chance for work permit -stamp 1g, reason being you only have 12 to 18 months max to perform excellently well and you can't afford to gamble with over #4m on Tuition fees. Thus, my suggestion is to choose a course you will comfortable excel in.
4. Tuition fees for DBS for 2019/2020 has already gone up by 500 to 1000 euros, likewise for Griffiths on most courses. Tuition for TUDublin and University of Limerick will definitely increase for 2020/2021 intakes.
5. Cork institute of tech will be merging with IT Tralee to become Munster University soon. CIT mostly accepts 2.1 students for masters program and automatically consider them for 25 % discount leaving their overall Tuition fee at 9000 euros.
6. IT Tralee and DKIT offers free accommodation for Undergraduate students only. 7. If you are above 23 years with only 0-level as your current qualification, I would not advise you apply to Ireland - if you however intend applying, you are required to pay your first year tuition in full and do an Education bond of 7,000 euros.
8
9. BSc Nursing programs is not available to International students only as a Top up program and that requires you to currently have a diploma in Nursing only * to apply for a top up BSc in Nursing.
10. Most Schools give scholarship discounts based on grade E.g NCI's overall Tuition is 14,500 euros - 1st class and 2.1 students automatically get 4,000 euros off; 2.2 get 2,000 euros off.
11. For people with a 3rd class degree , you can opt for a 2 -in-1 program i.e Higher diploma first and then masters or opt for a pre-masters and then proceed for a masters program.
12. DIFC is a foundation school offering pre-bachelors and pre-masters programs * note this does not come cheap ; but the good side to their services is they have partner universities in the UK, US, Australia, other parts of Europe where Tuition is as low as 4000 euros per year. Thus, after either a foundation or pre-masters you can proceed to any of these countries for further studies.
13. Just read this morning that CBN may float the naira * not sure how genuine this is , but if you are planning to study abroad next year, please open a dorm account and start saving up. Rates may come down however , we may land back to how things were in 2015 when £1 was #600- we pray this does not happen .
14. If you applied directly to your university and did not use an agent especially for schools like Griffith , you should send your visa application reference so they can follow up with the embassy on your behalf. If TUdublin, they send you a link to fill your visa application details after submission at the vfs office.
If there is any additional update, I'll drop it whenever am less busy* kindly bear in mind this is peak period for visa application, I won't be able to provide answers to all questions I get tagged on but will definitely respond when available.
Good luck !!!
13. All hail the Irish Queen. Thanks for this. |

Emmanuel360: Please guyz, a friend's payment was not approved by first bank because he was using his statement of result which was what he used in getting his admission. Please which bank accept statement of result for form A I don't understand what your "friend's" statement of result has got to do with this. I paid mine too using Form A through Firstbank and what I submitted was my admission letter, photocopy of my international passport data page and print out of a mail from my school advising bank account details. Maybe you need to verify from your 'friend' what really transpired or tell him to join Nairaland and tell his story. |

finix77: Hi all. I need some guidance please...
I understand that we don't require an address to apply for visa. On the visa application though, it is asking me for contact information about host/ accomodation.
Will it be ok to use the school information for this even though I don't want to stay in school accomodation? And is it ok to use school info to apply for health insurance as well?
Thanks in advance Use the school address and when you get to where you are asked if you know the host personally, click no. You will be fine las las. Regards |

Seg11: I paid my fees via Gtb for 356/1€ here in lagos Hello people, I want to clarify something here. When I was to pay my tuition, I went to Gtb and inquired about Form A exchange rate, I was made to understand that the international exchange market is domiciled against the USD. Hence you buy dollars first then it is converted to whichever currency you wish to buy. So for those of you saying you were told 1€/357 should do well to be sure you understand the currency you were told at the bank. For a clearer understanding, how much is your fees in Euro and how much was deducted from your account? Do the maths and we will have a clearer picture of the subject matter. I may be wrong on this one but hey it's a discussion thread. Regards |

Alezie: Hello house, is it mandatory to pay the tuition fee before applying for Irish visa? Do you mean in part or in full? Well ICaSNg said this; "New requirement is to pay your full tuition or if your schools permits partial payment, the embassy advises at least 80% of your Tuition fees before visa application. This is not stated on their website , but was disclosed during visa training session in April." When you want to ask questions, ask specific ones so we know how to answer. Else don't be mad when your question is ignored. Regards |

Bjrokenhear003: if you know you dont have passion for IT Or come from an IT field, please thinbk twice before you study fintech, my house mate studies it and everytime she crying.
Entrepreneurship is okay as it is based more on assignment and just 1 exam for the semester but the otherwise for fintech, assignment up to 5 or 6 serious tasks and placed in groups and then exam
i will write my soujourn about living in Ireland and how true is it to get a white collar job after graduation before the end of this month because i'm writing my final paper on wednesday
From experience if you know you want to study, you can choose schools like GRIFFITH, NCI, TRINITY( In this school, their educational standard is very high. in summary ireland education standard is very hard), however if you coming for hustle, please choose DBS or DIT. Ireland is not a funny place in terms of bills. imagine cinema on Parnell street collects 12 euro per head for just a movie, bus fees 20 euros and house rent almost 500. If you aren't ready to seriously multitask and be running from class to work or meeting up with deadline of assignment, group meetings, choose a good college, make sure you check the course moodle and see if its something you can do. many people took extension but i made up my mind that i was going to survive it.
funny enough i still owe my landlady house rent of 100 euros because i was reading for exam and couldn't work, shes coming for my head this today, transport was on my guys this week because no cash. lol
Wish you best of luck Hello brother, I can't say I understand how you feel because I've not walked in your shoes. But just know one thing, your post is a motivation to somebody. It's people like you we see in the struggle and we are more determined to keep up the struggle. Fact is, you are going to win this. You will come out stronger and will hoist the flag of victory. Keep it going bro, we are rooting for you. We will be waiting for that update. Regards |

Sholsp: Hello @ Dreamchaserz, In my opinion, it us not advisable for you to use your dad as sponsor with you working, married, and your wife having a business. If at all you will include your dad as sponsor, it is better for your dad to go to his bank and request for you to be added on his statement as a joint account. It worked for me,so I believe it is a possible route. The point is if you are gainfully employed and married, what is the need for a sponsor?the V O would expect your dad to put the funds in your account.for me it is a red flag.other ppl can advice, regards. You just opened my eyes to a whole new idea....This is priceless. Thanks a lot |

Eldeee: I would suggest you forget about the form A issue. Look for aboki, strike a good deal with him, check out what the current rates are using abokifx.com, take him to your bank to avoid stories that touch, check out the authenticity of the euros, pay it using a domiciliary account. It will get to your account latest three days maximum or at most the following day.
Hope this helps Thanks a lot man. I was at firstbank yesterday and they said CBN exchange rate for Form A is 405.40 as at yesterday and this got me wondering of what important is the Form A then. |

ICaSNg: And this works for only schools that accept partial deposit. Not all universities accept 6,000 euros in short most require full tuition payment before visa application.
Cheers Thanks for the input. The point I am trying to buttress is that even if the poster finds a school that will grant him admission without any deposit at all, the Irish embassy will be waiting to see the 6000 Euros deposit. This is a visa requirement! |
