Honestly this thread deserve frontpage. The real loser in Rivers Politics are the thugs and innocent lives that are lost. Rotimi is a Minister, Dakuku is NIMASA Chairman, Wike is the Governor e.t.c This people know how to reconcile within the twinkle of an eye. So any Nairalanders/Followers that kill him/herself because of a poltician must be 1st class mumu. |

The country’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp plans to enter new markets globally, including Mexico and Nigeria, as it eyes 1 crore unit sales by 2017-18. “We already are present in a number of countries in Latin America, South-East Asia and Africa. I think we are already there in around 26-28 countries and as we speak, this month, we plan to enter the biggest market in Africa, Nigeria,” Hero MotoCorp CMD Pawan Munjal told reporters here. Very soon the company will also be going to Mexico, he added. “We also expect domestic sales to pick up, especially in the rural areas,” Munjal said. Saying that in India the market is not at its best, he said: “We are hoping that things start getting better especially in the rural sector. As far as breaching the 10-million sales mark, I think we have talked about reaching the mark by 2017-18.” Hero MotoCorp separated from Honda Motor Co Ltd in 2011 and since then has augmented its global presence. In August 2013, it announced plans to enter 50 markets by 2020 with a target of 20 manufacturing facilities across the globe and an overall annual turnover of ₹60,000 crore. The company aims at getting 10 per cent of annual sales from export markets, at around one million units, by 2017. Hero MotoCorp has set a cumulative sales target of 100 million units by 2020, having already crossed the 50-million milestone. During the last fiscal, the company sold 6,631,826 units and said it expects single-digit growth during the current fiscal. In India, the company currently has four plants — Gurgaon and Dharuhera (Haryana), Neemrana (Rajasthan) and Haridwar (Uttarakhand). As of last quarter, the company had an installed capacity to produce 81 lakh units per annum from the four production facilities. http://m.thehindubusinessline.com/companies/hero-motocorp-to-enter-nigeria-this-month/article8337268.ece Mynd44 lalasticlala

MTN Group Ltd. has proposed to pay 300 billion naira ($1.5 billion) to settle a record $3.9 billion fine in Nigeria for missing a deadline to disconnect unregistered subscribers, according to a document handed to reporters in the Nigerian Senate. Africa’s biggest mobile-phone company made the offer in order to settle a dispute that has been running since the fine was first imposed by Nigerian regulators in October. The country’s Senate Committee on Communications met to discuss the matter on Thursday and concluded that the negotiations with MTN must continue with the involvement of Minister of Communications Adebayo Shittu. MTN shares have declined more than 23 percent since the fine was made public on Oct 26, valuing the Johannesburg-based company at 272 billion rand ($17.6 billion). The penalty was imposed for missing a deadline to disconnect 5.1 million subscribers deemed by the government to be improperly registered in the country that’s battling security issues including Boko Haram’s Islamist insurgency. MTN’s management, the Nigerian Communications Commission and Shittu must report back to the Senate in two weeks with the outcome of discussions, according to the committee. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-03-10/mtn-proposes-to-pay-1-5-billion-to-settle-record-nigeria-fine Mynd44 lalasticlala |

MUMBAI: A 34-year-old Nigerian was stabbed to death allegedly by his inebriated roommate and fellow countryman, following an argument over footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. As the victim, Obinna Durumchukwu, was celebrating his 34th birthday on Saturday, he and the accused, Michael Chukwuma (22), were partying at their rented flat at Mahesh building, Ostwal Nagri, Nalasopara (east). The celebrations went on till 9 am on Sunday, when they decided to play football in the common balcony on the building's third floor. Both were drunk. While playing, they argued over whether Ronaldo or Messi was a better footballer. The argument turned ugly when Obinna allegedly hurled an empty glass liquor bottle at Michael. The bottle missed Michael, hit a wall and smashed into pieces. Michael then picked up a glass piece and slashed Obinna's neck. He died on the spot. Neighbours who heard the screams alerted the Tuling police. Michael, meanwhile, ran to the fourth floor, from where he was arrested. The Tuling police said that both Obinna and Michael's passports had expired this year and they has been staying in the country illegally. While Obinna's passport expired on January 24, Michael's passport expired on Sunday. He will be produced at a Vasai court on Monday. http://m.timesofindia.com/city/mumbai/Nigerian-stabs-friend-to-death-over-soccer-tiff/articleshow/51282700.cms lalasticlala Mynd44 |

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) -- Dozens of emaciated-looking Boko Haram members begging for food have surrendered in northeast Nigeria, the military and a civilian self-defense fighter said Wednesday. Seventy-six people including children and women gave themselves up to soldiers last Saturday in Gwoza, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) southeast of Maiduguri, according to a senior officer. All are being detained at military headquarters in Maiduguri, the birthplace of Boko Haram and currently the command center of the war against the Islamic extremists, according to the officer. He insisted on anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to journalists. The detainees said many more fighters want to surrender, a self-defense civilian fighter who helped escort them to Maiduguri told The Associated Press. Food shortages could indicate that Nigeria's military is succeeding in choking supply routes of the Islamic extremists who have taken their fight across Nigeria's borders. Some 20,000 people have died in the 6-year-old uprising. Boko Haram was declared the deadliest of all terror groups in 2014, surpassing the Islamic State group to which it declared allegiance last year. Nigeria's military reported that dozens of Boko Haram fighters were surrendering in September and October last year. It promised those who give themselves up voluntarily that they will be rehabilitated through a de-radicalization program. In the 10 months since he took office promising to halt the insurgency, President Muhammadu Buhari has replaced the leadership of the military, moved the headquarters for the fight from the distant capital, Abuja, to the heart of the northeastern insurgency and resupplied soldiers. The military has driven the insurgents from the towns and villages where they had set up an Islamic caliphate but Boko Haram has returned to hit-and-run tactics and suicide bombings. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AF_BOKO_HARAM?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-03-02-04-49-44 |

A new political platform believed to be packaged by fronts of aggrieved bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come into being. At the National Executive Council/National retreat held by the promoters of the yet-to- be registered party, the Peoples Mega Party (PMP), the National Coordinator, Chief Perry Opara, told the delegates that the mission of the new political platform is to provide a very focused and patriotic body deviod of negative traits of impunity and confusion. “The major people who are in the party are former members of the PDP who disenchanted by the high level of corruption, high level of impunity and high-handedness in the PDP. They have decided to form something very new and they are of the opinion that they should hand over the party to younger elements who are less corrupt and who can be able to fight for the interest of the people.” Opara who is a close associate of the estranged PDP chieftain and former Presidential aide, Alhaji Ali Ahmed Gulak said that apart from the bigwigs from PDP, there are others from even the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) desirous of pitching their tent with the new party. However, Opara declined to mention names of those PDP and APC members floating the party, saying no one among them has given permission to make it open. But that does not mean that it is only people from the PDP, there are also people from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chapters in many states. There are people from the Labour Party and there are some disenchanted people from the ruling party. http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/03/01/aggrieved-pdp-men-floats-peoples-mega-party/ |

Sweden announced that it will recognize the state of Palestine, becoming the first member of the European Union to do so. Stefan Lofven became the prime minister of a new center-left government this month and used his inaugural address to parliament to say that a “two-state solution requires mutual recognition and a will to peaceful co-existence. Sweden will therefore recognize the state of Palestine.” Currently, more than 130 countries officially recognize Palestine: http://qz.com/276164/all-the-countries-including-sweden-that-now-recognize-palestinian-statehood/ |
