Almost time up for Saraki. Anyway, justice delay is justice denied. Thanks for Justice Danladi Umar. TANTUMERGO007:Yes, you are entitled to your opinion but that won't deter the CCT from doing is job. Moreover, the CCT is yet to deliver his judgement so don't assume Saraki is guilty or not. It left to Saraki to defend himself with all the 80 lawyers he hired.

LAGOS, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's plan to increase the availability of renminbi (Yuan) has already favored the Naira against the U.S. dollar, a top official with the Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria said Sunday. Aminu Gwadabe, President of the Association disclosed this to reporters in Abuja, saying since the announcement, the Naira had appreciated by 10 naira against the dollar. The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd and the Central Bank of Nigeria signed a deal on Yuan transactions, as a way to resuscitate the current currency slump in Nigeria. The deal meant the Yuan will flow freely around Nigerian banks and will even be included in the country's foreign exchange reserves. Since 2014 when Yuan was recognized as a likely global reserve currency, Ghana, South Africa and Zimbabwe have integrated the currency into their financial markets. Gwadabe said the dollar was now changing for 310 as against the former rate of 320 and predicted that once the policy is in force, the price of dollar will continue to fall. He told reporters that this new policy will help the informal payment sector. "You know more than 50 percent of foreign businesses in Nigeria is with China and before now, Nigerians doing business in China have to change their money to dollar, then from dollar to Yuan," he added. "You can all testify to the number of made in China things in the country. So if small and large businesses can convert straight to Yuan, it's better," he told reporters. He urged the CBN to monitor the development closely for effective implementation of the policy. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-04/17/c_135287363.htm

dukie25:But you would have believe the same story if he was criticising Buhari and i am 100% sure you wouldn't ask for link either too. I doubt also if you read the news at all, if you do then you forgot to read this part Hurd told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday |
The United Kingdom is fully behind President Muhammadu Buhari in the ongoing efforts by his administration to rid Nigeria of corruption, Mr Nick Hurd, the UK Minister for International Development, has said. Hurd told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday that fighting corruption was critical to transforming Nigeria’s future. “We have been very active in supporting President Muhammadu Buhari`s campaign against corruption in Nigeria and we think it is fundamental to transform the future of the country. “We fully support priorities that the President has given to tackling corruption in Nigeria. “We feel that corruption is absolutely the right priority and we want to support him in that, “ he said. The minister urged the federal government to focus on public sector reforms aimed at making corruption unattractive to workers and the general public. He pointed out that there was so much workers in the public sector could do to reduce corruption through effective accounting systems. Hurd told NAN that his country was working with the Federal Government and the Civil Society Organisations on attitudinal change in the Nigerian society. “We think corruption holds Nigeria back and for every pound that is taken out of the public system through corruption, is a pound that could be spent educating children. “It is a pound that could be spent educating girls and developing the health system that the country can be proud of. “That is the kind of attitude that we would like to encourage and, therefore, we support the President in that, “ he said. Hurd said that the UK Prime Minister David Cameron, like President Buhari, is also passionate to rid his country of corruption. “Which is why next month, he (Cameron) is holding an anti-corruption summit in London and we very much hope that Nigeria will be well represented in that conference. “The conference will bring together world leaders to discuss corruption and their plans to tackle it in their countries; so corruption is a very big issue for us, “ he said. http://busyghana.com/uk-expresses-support-buharis-anti-graft-war/ Mynd44 lalasticlala |

The fates patients on admission at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital are now hanging in the balance owing to a strike embarked on by members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) because of unpaid four months salaries. When journalists visited the university teaching hospital on Saturday, some of the patients complained that the doctors had practically abandoned their duty posts since Monday April 11 and this had deprived them of efficient medical treatments. Some of the patients, who spoke under anonymity , said those diagnosed for critical ailments had pressed for referral to private hospitals and Federal Teaching Hospital , Ido Ekiti, to prevent sudden death. A top member of the hospital’s management team who reacted to the strike under anonymity because he was not authorized to speak said: “We are speaking to the striking doctors , but it seems as if they are recalcitrant , they didn’t want to bow to pressure at all. http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/04/16/patients-groan-as-doctors-strike-paralyses-ekiti-teaching-hospital/ |

Asks Dickson to pay state’s obligations Batch ‘A’ members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who passed out, yesterday, trooped to the streets of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to protest the state’s government inability to pay their transport allowances. It was gathered that the corps members took their grievances to the Government House after receiving their discharge certificates. He said their allowances would be paid in full adding that the money had been approved by the government. Also addressing the protesters, the Zonal Inspector, Ajike O. E assured them that their money would be given to them in cash by today at the zonal office Yenagoa. I grew up in northern Nigeria but left nine years ago after becoming disenfranchised. I felt that the elite that run the country were deliberately underfunding education and the health system to undermine young people from humble backgrounds so that they do not have the opportunity to change the country. I left for the UK to study at the University of Sussex, where I completed an undergraduate degree in economics and international relations, before embarking on a master’s degree. I had an audacious dream to return to Nigeria and use the knowledge I acquired at university to fight for social justice. Getting to the UK in the first place was not easy. Like the majority of people who apply to visit or study in the UK from an African country, my initial application was rejected and it was only after three appeals that the Home Office finally granted me permission to study here. Had I not been so passionate about education I may not have persevered with fighting against all the roadblocks the Home Office placed in my path. In 2008, while in the UK, I began to feel unwell. After a series of tests I was diagnosed with the blood-borne virus hepatitis B. I have no idea how I contracted it although it might have been from sharing razor blades back in Nigeria. Tragically my two brothers also contracted the disease and died from it. It is hard to describe what a huge impact their loss has had on my life. Everything changed after I was diagnosed. Unfortunately my condition is quite advanced and so my only option for long-term survival is a liver transplant. In the meantime my condition needs to be closely monitored. The treatment I need to keep me alive is not available in Nigeria. My student visa expired in 2011 and I applied to remain in the UK on medical grounds. Since then I have been involved in a series of unsuccessful appeals with the Home Office who issued me with a deportation notice earlier this year. The Home Office is tightening immigration rules all the time. My university cannot support me to finish the final part of my master’s because if it does so it will be in breach of the immigration rules and might have its licence revoked. In 2013, a campaign was launched to appeal to the Home Office to let me remain in the UK. Some of the students at the university who support me recently occupied one of the university buildings in protest against my threatened forced removal from the UK. I am not a health tourist who has parachuted into the UK in search of free NHS treatment. I became ill part-way through a legitimate course of study and a legitimate stay in the UK approved by the Home Office. The thought of returning to Nigeria to my mother, who has already endured the emotional and psychological torture of losing two sons so that she can watch her third son die too, is unbearable. I now consider the UK to be my home. I have laid down roots here and have incredible support from friends, colleagues and tutors. Thanks to my excellent experience at university I am well placed to work hard and get skilled employment here. I have so much to contribute: I have drive and ambition, I want to work and pay my taxes and make a positive difference to the UK. If I return home my deterioration will be rapid and I will not survive as the medical treatment I need to keep me alive is not available there. The Home Office exercises discretion about who it decides can stay and who it forces to leave. In my case, it has the power over life and death. I am appealing to the Home Office to let me stay and be a useful and positive member of society here. In short I am asking the Home Office not to send me back to my death but to save my life. • Sign the petition opposing Luqman Onikosi’s deportation here http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/apr/14/home-office-please-dont-deport-death-luqman-onikosi-nigeria Mynd44 lalasticlala
