President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Supo Ayokunle, has denied being attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen, Igbere TV reports. Ayokunle’s Personal Assistant, Rev. Paul Jenfa, said on Friday that the CAN leader was not referring to himself in an incident he recounted recently as published in media reports. The PA said Ayokunle only made reference to the case of a Lagos-based Baptist Church pastor, who was attacked by Fulani bandits in Maya, a town between Iseyin and Abeokuta, while returning from Okeho where he attended the burial programme of his father. Jenfa said Ayokunle was not talking about himself when he responded to a question on whether he believed the explanation by the authorities that foreigners were responsible for the kidnappings in the country. Jenfa also wrote the actual words of his principal which suggested that he must have been mistaken. “I am not part of the law enforcement agents. (But what I know is what practically happened to me),” Jenfa quoted Ayokunle saying. “On June 14, 2019, I was at Okeho, Ayetoro to preach at the burial of the father of one of my pastors. On June 15, he returned to his base in Lagos. On the way, between Iseyin and Abeokuta in the Maya area, herdsmen attempted abducting him and others in the vehicle. “It was just God’s grace and anointing that didn’t allow herdsmen to finish them or take them away. “People gave him gifts, including money, which they (the herdsmen) saw in the vehicle, and that was why he was not abducted. They were satisfied with the money in the vehicle. “One of them (herdsmen) put a gun to the head of the pastor; the pastor thought the end had come. “The abductors; does it matter whether they are foreigners or citizens within the country? They are criminals fomenting trouble and making life difficult for others.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/885839/can-president-denies-being-attacked-by-suspected-herdsmen/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo has disowned social media accounts in his name after the operators supported the #RevolutionNow movement. A Facebook account in his name had said in Hausa: “I am supporting the revolution to overthrow the government of President Buhari for it has failed to provide the necessary development Nigerians desire and ask for.” The Former Vice President in a statement on Thursday described the post as “mischievous and unsolicited”. “My attention has been drawn to unsolicited acts by some unscrupulous political jobbers that have sponsored and spread messages on Facebook and other social media platforms, purportedly conveying messages from my person,” the statement began. “I wish to make it public that the said messages are clearly the handiwork of mischief-makers, who are bent on creating confusion and disaffection to overheat the polity with the aim of achieving their selfish political motives and to bring my personality to disrepute. For the avoidance of doubt, I do not own or operate any social media account on any Facebook or any platform. “For the record, the general public should note that I have never made any post, sponsored or ask anyone to do so on my behalf, directly or indirectly. I have never delegated anyone to design and or circulate any post on Facebook or any social media platforms.” “I have taken steps to report the account to the management of Facebook as well as to alert relevant security agencies to monitor and track those behind this dreadful activity for prosecution,” Sambo said. https://foxmeek.com/news/revolutionnow-ex-vice-president-namadi-sambo-disowns-facebook-account Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

A Federal High Court in Abuja will on Thursday (today) rule on an application of the Department of State Service (DSS) to detain a former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, for 90 days. The DSS had on Tuesday applied to the court for an order to keep the Sahara Reporters publisher pending the conclusion of its investigation, Igbere TV reports. Justice Taiwo had adjourned ruling till Thursday after hearing the application marked FHC/ABJ/915/19. He said the adjournment would afford him the time to watch the video evidence attached to the application by the security agency. Mr Sowore, 48, was arrested last Saturday by DSS operatives ahead of Monday’s #RevolutionNow protest, which he had spearheaded. He was the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 general election. Among those who have spoken in Sowore’s favour is human rights lawyer, Femi Falana. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said in a release: “The State Security Service should release Mr Omoyele Sowore, one of the conveners of the protests. “In the alternative, he should be arraigned in court if there is reasonable suspicion that he has contravened any penal statute.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/882409/breaking-court-to-rule-today-on-dss-request-to-detain-sowore/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Police in Lagos say they have arrested two Chinese, Lin Piehao, 22, and Li Ruoneng, 27, for allegedly operating an ‘illegal’ e-waste factory. Lagos police spokesman, Bala Elkana, said the men were arrested late Monday for allegedly operating an illegal e-waste factory said to be emitting toxic waste in the community, Igbere TV reports. They were arrested at the factory located at 19 Sule Abuka Street, Opebi, Ikeja. Police said the suspects’ visas had since expired, adding that they assemble the e-waste mainly from mobile phones, tablets, which they export to China and Vietnam through air cargo. Mr Piehao said they buy panels from technicians and scrap sellers. “We buy phone panels (Android and Nokia panels). We buy them from phone repairers and scrap sellers. We remove the panel I.C. with machine and then ship it to China and Vietnam,” he said. “We have some Nigerian casual workers in our factory but we give them the rules and urge them to be discrete before they join us. “We actually came into Nigeria with one month visa to explore the country and study to know the business we can do, but our boss in China urged us to open the factory and we have been enjoying Nigeria and did not want to go back despite the expiration of our visa.” The Chinese added: “I do not have work permit. I know it is a crime to work without work permit, but the e-waste business is very lucrative. We do a lot to ensure that the smoke from the e-waste does not affect the environment where we operate.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/877376/police-arrest-two-chinese-over-illegal-e-waste-factory-photos/

The police have justified the teargas fired at RevolutionNow protesters who gathered in front of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, on Monday. An Assistant Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Tijani Fatai, told journalists after the protesters were dispersed that the group did not seek permission of the place from the police before gathering and therefore described their protest as unlawful. “Their gathering is unlawful and an unlawful gathering is supposed to be discharged. We had to dislodge them because they have no permit,” Mr Fatai said. Armed security operatives rained teargas when the protesters started chanting solidarity songs and calling for the release of the convener of RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore. Protesters began converging at the stadium as early as 7 am on Monday. They, however, met a team of security agents known as Operation MESA or OP MESA made up of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. They were also joined by police officers. Watch the video; https://foxmeek.com/news/why-we-fired-teargas-at-revolutionnow-protesters-police-video Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique l

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, has hailed the new British Prime Minister Boris Johnson over the appointment of Kemi Badenoch. Mrs Badenoch was appointed last Saturday the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families, an equivalent of a junior minister, Igbere TV reports. “I commend and celebrate British Prime Minister, Mr. Boris Johnson, for appointing a British citizen of Nigerian heritage as a minister in his government,” Atiku said in a statement on Tuesday. “Your cabinet has a lot to teach the world. With an average age of 47, it is the UK’s youngest ever cabinet, and with over 25% minority representation, it is one of the world’s most diverse governments. It is also a gender balanced administration, with 24% female representation. Putting together such a well represented government is a testament to your ability to connect, include and unite. “Like I said in both my private and public messages to you, I am confident that under your leadership, Anglo-Nigerian relationships will be greatly strengthened.” Atiku also congratulated Badenoch, saying that “Nigerians, especially her youth, are natural leaders, with advanced intellect and abilities. I said this when I congratulated Kelechi (Kaycee) Madu on being made a minister in Canada and Mrs. Badenoch only corroborates my assertions.” The former Vice President urged Nigerians “all over the world to note that global leaders acknowledge that we are hardworking people, with a community spirit that we take wherever we go.” He added: “Nigerian youths are not lazy as is shown from these appointments, and I look forward to the day that we can show by our youth representation in Nigeria’s government, that they are as appreciated at home as they are abroad.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/859699/atiku-hails-boris-johnson-on-appointment-of-a-nigerian-as-junior-minister/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, on Friday decried the difficulties being experienced in the repatriation of stolen assets traced to foreign countries. A statement by the commission’s Acting Spokesman, Mr Tony Orilade, quoted Magu to have expressed the concern when Mr Joe Abah, Country Director of DAI Nigeria, visited him in his office, Igbere TV reports. DAI is an international development firm implementing programmes covering governance, in more than 100 countries worldwide. While appealing to the international law enforcement agencies to assist the agency in this regard, Magu said the process of repatriating monies stashed abroad has been very frustrating and disappointing. “Yet, we have done everything possible, gone out of our way to encourage our sister agencies, but cooperation is almost nil. “We have been investigating a number of cases for over four years working with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, National Crimes Agency and even the Crown Prosecution Service. “We have done everything possible, gone out of our way to encourage our sister agencies, but except there is a third party involved there is no cooperation. “We are willing to go outside this country to give evidence, and to share the intelligence that we have. “The next level in the corruption fight is promising, there is political will and we are going to be daring,” newsmen quoted him as saying. An Abeokuta High Court has sentenced a man, Lebaran Abass, to death by hanging for trailing a bank customer and robbing him at gunpoint, Igbere TV reports. Justice S. A. Olugbemi on Tuesday found Mr Abass guilty of two-count charges of conspiracy and armed robbery. Olugbemi ruled that evidence before court showed that the convict committed the offences. The prosecutor, Aderonke Adefisoye, had told the court that the convict committed the offences on February 28 in Ilaro, Ogun. Adefisoye said that the convict robbed one Mr Adebusuyi Afolabi of N998,000 shortly after he withdrew the sum from a bank. “The accused and his gang would stay within bank premises waiting for customers who will withdraw huge amounts of money, and trail them to the point of collecting the money. “The complainant withdrew his money from a bank located at Owode Yewa and went to the motor park to board a commercial vehicle to Idi-Iroko. “The accused pointed a gun at Afolabi and collected the bag containing N998,000 from him and jumped onto a standby motorcycle and escaped,” the prosecutor said. President Buhari's search for oil in Northern Nigeria suffered a major knock, as Fulani herdsmen under the umbrella of Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) accused him of wasting resources. Speaking on behalf of the group in Damaturu on Monday, National President of the association, Khalil Mohammed Bello, stated the resources used in the oil search can be used to develop the livestock sector and in turn boost the country's revenue, Igbere TV reports. “One cannot compare renewable resources with natural deposits such as petroleum resources, which can be replaced with several alternative sources of energy such as biofuel, electricity, solar etc to motorise our engines. “We are all aware that, no matter how abundant country’s petroleum resources is one day the resources will be exhausted or replaced by another source of energy more especially as the entire World now is crying of climate change and air pollution, mainly caused by heavy duty industries that are using petroleum resources for their daily operations. “And even if petroleum resources are not replaced with other sources of energy, it will one day finish, and that is why whenever new petroleum well or wells are discovered, geologists or experts in the petroleum explorations usually state, when that petroleum is expected to be exhausted,” Bello disclosed. The group also noted that the Northern region of Nigeria, can do better as it did during colonial era and in the First Republic without petroleum. It backed its claim with plans by Saudi Arabia to diversify its economy and reduce dependency on petroleum resources. “At this juncture, we want to reiterate what we have earlier said that by making this comparison or analysis we are not discouraging government or petroleum Companies from making oil exploration in the Northern part of our country, we are only stating facts as well as saying that let oil exploration be given third position in the North, after livestock and arable farming. “We said so for the fact that, we know if to say part of the billions Naira expended for oil exploration in the North, is been spent judiciously for the development of agriculture, reclaiming our land encroached by desertification through massive three planting and production of posture and water points for both livestock and arable farming will develop to the extent that Northern Nigeria can feed the entire African States,” the KACRAN President asserted. Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has undertaken to take care of the medical bills of veteran actor, Sadiq Daba, Igbere TV reports. Otedola disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday. Daba travelled to the United Kingdom in 2017 for the treatment of leukaemia and prostate cancer. He returned to Nigeria a few weeks after with reports that his situation was not as bad as feared. Two years after, the October 1 star was recently admitted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for what those close to him said was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. “I heard about Mr. Sadiq Daba’s health condition when it was brought to my attention through an online news story I read two days ago,” Otedola said in his statement. “I was saddened to hear that he had taken ill again after overcoming his challenges from prostate cancer just two years ago. “From the news report, I gathered that he was rushed to the Emergency unit of LUTH after being diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). “I must say that even though I don’t know Mr. Daba personally, he is a face I am familiar with through the old TV drama production ‘Cock Crow at Dawn’ which I used to watch while growing up. “I was moved by a sense of nostalgia and concern when I read of his medical situation recently and decided to take over his medical bills. He has been visited and arrangements are being made to support him. “In other climes, the likes of Sadiq Daba and other such actors who more or less paved the way for the entertainment industry and the Nollywood industry in Nigeria (which is touted as the 3rd largest movie industry in the world) would be celebrated as Icons and due recognition would be accorded to them. “For me, taking care of Sadiq’s medical expenses is my little way of showing appreciation and gratitude for the good memories he created for me and others in the past.” Otedola had in April accepted to foot the medical bills of former Super Eagles’ coach, Christian Chukwu, who was reportedly diagnosed with prostate cancer. Chukwu returned to the country two Fridays ago after his treatment in the UK which reportedly cost Otedola N36,635,000, Igbere TV reports. Governor Ihedioha on Thursday accused his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha of “massive looting" and leaving Imo state with over N100 billion debt through corruption and mindless misappropriation, Igbere TV reports. The Imo State Governor in his address to Imo stakeholders, alleged that his newly constituted government recently received a N30 billion worth of Garnishee Orders from contractors handling fraudulently awarded contracts by Okorocha’s government. Lamenting over the unsustainable debt his predecessor’s alleged eight years of misrule plunged the state into, Governor Ihedioha said; “Our interim findings show a consistent pattern of massive looting and stripping of public assets, dismantling and carting away of public property such as electric poles, vehicles, trucks, office equipment and furniture etc. “There were last-minute illegal sales of government property at giveaway prices and unlawful allocation of land including backdating of Certificates of Occupancy. “I must inform you in this regard that, so far we have received over 30 billion Naira worth of Garnishee Orders arising from several ill-conceived and fraudulent contractual agreements deliberately consummated by the past administration, to destroy the future of the State and its teeming population by fettering the State in a humongous debt trap.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/831206/governor-ihedioha-accuses-okorocha-of-massive-looting-in-8-years-of-government/

The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit filed by a former minister of communications, Adebayo Shittu, against his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the exclusion of his name from the list of governorship aspirants in the primary for the 2019 elections, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV learnt that Justice John Okoro dismissed the suit on Thursday on behalf of a five-man panel. Okoro said the appeal was dismissed having been withdrawn by the appellant. APC had prevented Shittu from participating in its primary election because he skipped the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) after his graduation from the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1978. Shittu sued the party, seeking redress for allegedly being denied participation in the governorship primary election in Oyo State. His counsels, had, among other things, urged the court to determine whether the ground for disqualifying his client was lawful or contravening of the constitution. The minister’s lawyers argued that Nigeria’s constitution required anyone seeking to be a state governor to possess a maximum of Senior Secondary School Certificate and not necessarily an NYSC certificate. Also in attendance were the Dean of UNICAL faculty of law, Prof. Michael Okom, staff of the faculty and members of the Law Students’ Society. Speaking at the event, Hon. Benjamin Kalu said he was happy to be back to the institution after 21 years, while thanking the faculty for finding him worthy of being decorated. He thereafter announced the donation of N1 million, of which a cheque was issued immediately. Hon. Ben Kalu also announced an annual N100,000 cash prize for best performing student of Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and Evidence tagged: “‘Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu Scholar Prize”. According to him, “this prize will be given at the annual event of the faculty, towards the end of every year.” The lawmaker also pledged to donate a solar generator to the faculty, with a promise to sponsor the establishment of a Legislative Research Institute, which will engage both lecturers and students in the act of drafting “well researched” bills for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This, according to him, will be funded by his office in partnership with other international agencies. Recalling the role he played in the Sudan/Dafor crisis, working with the United Nations in 2003, Hon. Benjamin Kalu said his passion for people made him what he is today. While dedicating the Award to the UNICAL law class ‘98, the Abia State born politician ascribed his successes to Almighty God and lecturers in the faculty of law. “This recognition today would not have been made possible if these lecturers failed to form my character, while I was here (as a student)”, he said. Our correspondent who covered the event, reports that Kalu stole the show as he was the center of attraction throughout the event. He was given a standing ovation after his speech, while the crowd cheered loudly. The lawmaker was accompanied by his colleague at the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabir Tukura, member representing Zuru/Fakai/Sakaba/D/Wasagu Federal Constituency - who donated the sum of N200,000. Also with him was Chief Ikenna Ariwodo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and CEO of Japan based Allied, NIHON Ltd. Meanwhile, Igbere TV had earlier reported that Hon. Benjamin Kalu, on Friday, hosted the UNICAL faculty of law to a lunch at the Transcorp hotel, Calabar. At the dinner were the then students of class ‘98, the Dean of the faculty of Law and lecturers in the faculty. The luncheon held ahead of the Award conferment on the distinguished lawmaker and founder of Silk Partners LLP, Lekki, Lagos. HON. BEN KALU’S “THANK YOU” SPEECH: “It is such a delight to be back within the four walls of this great institution after 21 years. I am indeed humbled by the recognition from my faculty, especially the Dean of Law, Professor Michael Okom and the Law Students Association. I would specifically like to thank the lecturers who taught me during my time here. This recognition today would not have been possible were if these lecturers failed to form my character while here. I am particularly thrilled to be accompanied by my old friends, the UNICAL Faculty of Law Class of '98 who have joined me in solidarity. This award belongs to the Class of '98, AKA The Golden Ones. In 1992/93, like many of you here today, I came to the law faculty of our great institution with hopes of a better life and in pursuit of a bright future for myself and my family. As a starry-eyed teenager anxious about my future, I was determined to apply myself to study our statutes, the common law and equity, the principles of law, the philosophies and the application of logic. I was determined to be successful; to be the best legal practitioner Nigeria had ever seen. So, like a lot of the students here, I bent my head most nights and pored through text, lecture notes and handouts. Like the Bible commanded, I studied to show myself approved. This was my recipe for success - or so I thought. But you see, something was missing - the People Element. Popular consensus in the definition of law acknowledge that law exists to serve the people. So I find it quite interesting how oftentimes we conveniently reduce the whole concept of law to a mere series of sections, sub sections, principles and procedures to be internalized and regurgitated in exams and practice; how easy it is for us to recognize the text of the law, but forget the faces of THE PEOPLE who the law serve. William Godwin said, “Law is made for man and not man for the law.” Which means, man does not serve the law, the law serves man. I therefore thought to myself; if the law exists to serve the People, then People must be very important. It means that People are at the centre of everything. This epiphany led me to concede that all of the work I was putting in was nearly meaningless until my knowledge, talents and abilities were utilized for the development of other people. This understanding began to redefine what success meant to me. It sparked a passion for the people in me and that was when my life took off. At the age of 23, I became a student representative of this University. My passion for the people also led me to work for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Australia, where I led a team to assist in the Sudan/Dafor crisis. And when I returned to Nigeria in 2003, my desire to serve set me up to become the youngest Local Government Chairman of the oldest and largest undivided Local government area in Nigeria at age 31, Senior Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as the Senior Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Abia State on Millennium Development Goals and International Relations at age 35. Today, this passion for the people has led me into the hallowed chambers of the House of Representatives, where I now make laws and represent my Constituency, the culmination of the extension of goodwill from the Benjamin Kalu Foundation for 17 years. Looking back at the journey so far; from my days as an audacious malabite studying law in this university, to establishing Silk Partners LLP, a thriving law firm in Lekki, Lagos, and further up to my current position as a lawmaker in the National Assembly, I realise that all of the things which may be considered my greatest achievements to date have been as a result of my passion for THE PEOPLE. The young scholars of this esteemed faculty of law are part of the People dear to my heart. Therefore, I am happy to announce the commencement of the annual Hon. Benjamin Okezle Kalu Prize for the best performing students in Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and Evidence. This prize will be given at the annual homecoming event of the faculty. In addition, the Dean of the faculty, Prof. Michael Okom had requested for a solar energy generator to power the classrooms allocated to law students for the provision of light and a more conducive atmosphere during lectures and exams. I wish to state that on behalf of my class ‘98, I will provide this. I have also decided to sponsor the establishment of the Benjamin Kalu Legislative Institute to partner with the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar for legislative related research work, which will engage both lecturers and students in the act of drafting well researched bills for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This will be funded by my office in partnership with other international agencies. As I look around this room today, I see the faces of ambitious and courageous young men and women eager to take on the world. I also know that not everyone here today will have a career as a lawyer. Some, like me, will find themselves drawn to the wodd of politics or business. Others will devote themselves to education, or philanthropy, or the arts. The possibilities are endless. But the education you are acquiring here today will help you excel in any field and at ANY profession. As rightly expressed by Oliver Wendell Holmes “In what other profession does one plunge so deep into the stream of life, to shore in its passions, its bottles, its despair and its triumphs?” That is the beauty of law and I encourage you to take it seriously. You may not realize it yet, but by the time you graduate here you would have acquired the necessary skillset to change the world. The world is in need of more people like you. So, I encourage you to walk through life with a sense of wonder. Be sensitive to the pain of others, when you find yourself in a position to lead, serve with love. Whatever path you decide to toe in life, let PEOPLE be at the centre of your endeavours for therein lies true success. I am for the people, I believe in the people and so should you. Thank you and God bless you.” Source; http://community.vanguardngr.com/forum/topics/breaking-ben-kalu-bags-unical-distinguished-alumnus-award-donat-1 Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the immediate release of N350 million for the completion of the new Kwara State Secretariat Complex in Ilorin, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV reports that Mr AbdulRazaq approved the fund after securing a discount of N50 million from the contractors who were being owed N515 million out of the N1.38 billion total contract sums. The contract had been awarded by the administration of former governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed. “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq felt a need to urgently complete the project for the use of civil servants even as he pushed for heavy discount for the state from the contractors,” a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, chief press secretary to the governor, said. “The idea is to save money while getting things fixed. As a result, the Governor has approved the release of N350m with which the contractors will finish the work. They will receive N81m after the work is satisfactorily done. That would leave them with the (third payment) retention fee of N34m after six months.” The statement said the governor was alarmed that some of the state’s civil servants were still in rented accommodation, 52 years after Kwara was created. The lead consultant for the project, Makanjuola Kayode, said the four-block secretariat complex would be ready by August 30. Each of the blocks has 76 office spaces. Mr. Makanjuola thanked the governor for approving prompt completion of the project. The Senate Tuesday said that it is prepared to receive the list of ministerial nominees from the Presidency any time it is submitted, Igbere TV reports. The upper chamber also said that the apparent delay in the submission of the ministerial list by President Muhammadu Buhari will not prevent senators from embarking on their scheduled annual vacation. The National Assembly is scheduled to commence its annual vacation at the end of July, 2019. Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, who addressed reporters in Abuja said that it was not the duty of the Senate to determine when the ministerial list would be submitted to it. Adeyeye also said that the Senate is not constitutionally empowered to request for the list from the Presidency. The Senate, he said, will wait until the president decides to send the list to it. Adeyeye said: “That is the prerogative of the Executive. We are not going to help them to do their job. The Senate cannot generate the list of ministers on its own. “It is the prerogative of the president to send his ministerial nominee list to the Senate and when he does that we will consider it. “That is our constitutional mandate. It is not even within our powers to even advise. We will wait until the matter is transmitted to us. “The executive are aware of the timetable of the Senate. There is a particular time the Senate will go on recess. That being in mind they should be mindful of when they will carry out this constitutional responsibility. “That is our constitutional mandate but it is not within our power to even advise or anything, so we will wait until the list is submitted. I will not say anything more than that. “I don’t think this matter should worry any Nigerian. We are supposed to receive the letter with the list of ministerial nominee transmitted to the Senate. If a thing is not my job why should it worry me. When the list comes to us, Nigerians will look at the time the list arrives here and the time the list is approved. “Let me tell you one thing, the executive are aware and most Nigerians are aware of the timetable of the Senate. “There is a particular time of the year when the Senate will go on recess that being in mind, they should be mindful of when to carry out this constitutional responsibility because the Senate itself has its own timetable. “Like the judiciary is right now on recess, a lot of judges have travelled out except those handling election matters. So in the same way, there will be a time, very soon when the Senate will go in recess. “I think the Executive are mindful of this to know the timetable of the Senate and it is left to them to adjust to that timetable or not. “When the matter comes before us, we will look at it and carry out our constitutional responsibility.” Source; http://igberetvnews.com/827514/just-in-were-waiting-for-ministerial-nominees-senate-tells-presidency/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Mohammed Tata, a witness for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the Presidential Election Tribunal has alleged that he was forced to sign a copy of the result of the February 2019 presidential election, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV reports that he also told the court that he was threatened with sack from the N-Power scheme where he is a beneficiary if he does not sign the result. Tata told the tribunal that he reported the threat but nothing was done to those who forced him to sign the results. The court heard that Tata served as an agent of the PDP in Jigawa State during the presidential election. The Presidential Election Tribunal is looking into the applications filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari. While being cross examined by the lawyer to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Yunus Usman, the PDP Tata said, “I was harassed and intimidated to sign the result sheet under duress. “I was told that if I refuse to sign, my name will be removed from the N-Power programme.” According to him, the 700 votes claimed to have been won by Buhari and the APC in his unit could not be proven as “there was no score because there was no election.” He pointed out that he was a Muslim and believes in destiny, adding that he does not care whether the PDP or APC won the election in his unit. Tata added, “All I want is that I need justice in my country. I don’t care whether my party won or lost, but I am not happy about what happened.” When asked by the lawyer to the APC, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, why he did not mention the names of those that harassed him in his statement on oath, Tata replied that he decided not to mention names for security reasons and for the fact that he still benefits from the Federal Government’s scheme – N-Power.
