If he had freedom in 07/08, the reverse was the case in 08/09 - he was asked to essentially play supporting striker in a 4-5-1 situation and stay in that position instead of falling back deep in midfield where he could instigate long passes and use his vision. Anyone watching Arsenal's games would have clearly observed that this position virtually neutralised Cesc's creative ability, except for a few games in which he did produce results.

Bottom line - that position is not the one for Cesc - his vision and ability to dictate the pace of the game is essential. Playing Denilson and Song together to dictate pace is negative and will produce few chances - that is the fact. It was HIGHLY ineffective, especially given that ARSHAVIN, who excels in this half striker role was also in the team and should have been applied in that role.

Been where? Have we ever been in a situation where Wenger has been booed at a shareholder's meeting? Have we ever been in a situation with Wenger facing the full guns from both the fans and top management?

Fernando Torres and Adebayor have been top striker at Liverpool and Arsenal respectively for the same length of time. Torres is the better striker no doubt. But he’s only scored 3 or 4 goals more than Adebayor in those 2 seasons.

It does seem incredible that some people here still do not get the debate that has been going on for at least a year now.

Either they are very stupid or are just Arse 21’s who have evolved a little in their ability to ‘debate’.

Arseblogger was also the first to use the term ‘ebouesless’ last season, the point at which I stopped reading him. He blogs for money. He feels compelled to seek as many hits as he can. It is irrelevant whether he meant harm or not. He has undoubtedly caused it.

The fact that some either cannot see it or pretend that they can’t see it is not irrelevant. It is a pointer for next season’s ’support’. I also fear that it is confirmation of the doomers’ agenda.

I wonder what our No.1 hate figure will feel when he runs out onto the pitch at TNHOF for the first game of the season? I wonder what the fans will feel.

Unfortunately this seems to hold true for Arsenal fans and especially when the tabloids get a whiff of it.

The way it panned out, especially in light of Ade’s plea for support on footy-focus, that brochure looks very stupid and unhelpful. May have been a joke, he is usually very sharp and enjoyable, but this one got away.

What the team does not need at the start of this new season is ill-will, negativity, and being undermined for last season. They should be entirely focussed, determined, and positive. Anything we as fans can do to help in the effort that began yesterday to win the premier league we should do. However it was intended, being run in the papers that brochure did the opposite of that.

I hope all preseason rings out with Ade’s song, just as the emirates did for arsene at the last home game.
