Hey Bombieicon01, I am guessing your exam is PLAB 2. Mine is too. Any update from your end?
Also, when did you do your biometrics and have you escalated yet?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by drmayor95(m): 11:32am On Jul 28, 2022
I did my biometrics on the 2nd of June at V.I

Sent a paid email last week Wednesday and was told my application is being considered and is awaiting a decision and would only be escalated after 8weeks

Sent another message yesterday( at exactly 8 weeks) and my application was escalated. I was told that I shouldn’t send another message until after 15 working days.

Has anyone been in this kind of similar situation?
Does a decision gets made within the 15 days?

I have an exam on the 23rd of August and I am very worried.

Guys, hit/miss?
My very 1st attempt ooooo lipsrsealed

SUBJECT: This day 2 years ago, I attempted suicide…
Hey [first name],

26th June 2018, I went into my kitchen, took a bread knife and slit my own wrist.

Here is my story…

I was born into a family of 3 children. Mum got her biggest contract as a civil engineer - resulting in my name 'JOY'.

To my family, I was the next big thing after sliced bread.

School started at the age of 3 years. Academics was easy peasy as I graduated top of my class in high school and college.

My best friend Pique would jokingly call me Senõr Sabelotodo a Spanish 'Mr know it all'

Shortly after grad, Berkshire Hathaway Insurance hired me with a net income of $300,000.

I became loaded….started living life like a high baller.

Indeed, life was good.

Everything was chilly and smooth..

Until the morning of that dreadful day. Boss called from work that I had been sacked.

In his words 'The company is in deep financial mess. We have to let you go. I am sorry Joy'

Let me go? What does that even mean? How? Why? Why me?....

I murmured these words as I strolled past my desk.

2 weeks later, mum died from complications of hypertension.

At that point, I LOST it. I became depressed….diagnosed with severe depression at the age of 23 years.

...Started slipping through the bottomless pit of hopelessness and worthlessness.

Football and previously enjoyed sports made no sense to me.

I woke up each day with little or no energy getting out of bed.

Most times, I asked myself : Will I ever be okay? Maybe I should end it now.

Well [first name], I DID it! I went into the kitchen, took a bread knife and slit my wrist.

Waking up on the hospital bed a day after. With my siblings around my bed with a cold smile…

I knew I had disappointed them.

I commenced antidepressants and began my search for books on depression. And how to overcome it.

All the books I got were unrealistic. Superficial.

Most were focused on my negative thoughts with no insight into my depression.

….only for people having a single bad day.

So, I got final advice from a friend who recommended this book[link] to me.

Oh my goodness!!!!

It was like a missing piece linking my everyday life to my mental and emotional state.

Basic explanation of the science behind depression and anxiety in its first chapter- solved my unending negative thoughts

I became aware of myself and how to respond to any given situation.

With its 6 STEPS on moving from sickness wellness….I got into a positive mindset that got me smiling everyday.

Its practical approach and weekly assessment was used for a study of 200 depressed people.

75 recovered within 1 month…

Another 51 showed improvement in 2 months….Amazing!

Regards.

P.S: The book comes with a free audio copy.

Hello Venzal, thanks for the info you've shared so far, it's been mind blowing cause I've taken a course on Copywriting before and some of the information I gained on this thread made it more clearer to me.

I'd also love for you to consider highlighting how we can:

-Carry out effective research on a product we want to write a copy for i.e the tools or website we need.

-How best we can practice our copywriting skills pending the time we get jobs from Upwork so we can use those copies as samples.

-How to writing a winning proposal to get jobs on Upwork and possibly if you can help us with a template.

Thank you smiley

Only for the fact that I am not psychotic, I would have said I had a thought broadcast.

You just wrote out my thoughts.

Oga Venzal, thank you for what you have done so far and what you will still do for us.

Please Kindly address this boss' enquiries.
God bless as you do so.

How much did you pay before you curse Nigeria, did you pay N50,000 for your tuition?

Maybe you don't know that Atiku's University, Covenant, Babcock and Igbenidion can boast of quality facilities like
these yet they're not as expensive. As you have decided to invest your money in Canadian education what is the need for this backlash? are students like you not paying tuition in the universities I mentioned above? carry your negativity away from here jor

This is his thread ma. You can as well create yours.
I honestly don't understand what motivates you people. This is 2019, we all need to form a strong force and sensitize the government. Even if he paid #50,000, nobody deserves to take lectures in an overcrowded classroom. Nobody deserves to sit on the floor to take lectures. It is common sense.

Being in the health sector for a while, I have had enough experience to know the country needs a complete systemic overhaul

Until you find yourself in a situation where;

there is no functioning AMBU bag to ventilate your relative in the emergency department of a Teaching Hospital

there is no RDT kit to test for malaria parasite before commencing anti-malaria medication

there is no functioning CT machine to do an important cranial CT scan

you have to travel from the north to south west to get a LINAC machine to commence radiotherapy treatment for your relative only to be the told on arrival that the one available isn't functioning.

....then and only then should you be qualified for such argument.

Hello Nairalenders,

Please, I need your advice experienced medicine graduates, students and consultants.

I am a 19-year-old medicine (MBBS) aspirant. I have written three jamb and MBBS admission has not come my way.

I applied twice in ui and once in Unilag.
For the unilag admission, I was 11 marks below the cut off mark in 2017.

In 2018, I was 2 marks below the cut off mark in ui.
This year, my aggregate is relatively low.

Now, I need advice on:
1. How to score 340+ in the forthcoming (2020) utme.
2. How to re strategize
3. How to eliminate boredom while reading/preparing.

4. Materials/books I can prepare with.

Also, I'll be glad to learn from your experience.

Thanks in anticipation.

PS: My utme score has always been between 280-318

Hey Sir/ma,
Judging from your write-up above, I am sure you will gain admission to study Medicine and Surgery come 2020. From my little experience, you ll need to work a bit harder.

Answer to Question (1)A : You ll need to evaluate your study materials. You can't expect to get 300+ in Jamb if your study textbook is Essential Physics for example. You will need textbooks like Okeke, Nelkon and Parker, One comprehensive Physics which I can't remember, etc.
B: You need to increase your study hours too. Read for longer periods. Be motivated. Just try. You have written Jamb twice so you know what it takes. Just sit down and read more. Keep reading. Honestly, it would pay off.

(2) While preparing for my 2nd JAMB in 2013(I knew I had to do something different from my 1st to get admission to study medicine at U I.
So I registered at the State library. I would leave home with my siblings who were in secondary school at that time and get to the library as early as 8:30am. I had a special corner. I would just sit my a*s down and read. All the books I needed were available at the library. I made a couple of friends whom I shared ideas and knowledge together with. I would say that was one of the best decisions of my life. You could try that too.
(3) The answer to this could be seen in answer(2) above. I made friends at the Library. Often times when I was bored, I would go see my guys and we would talk about a couple of interesting topics. After about some minutes, I ll just get back to my books. However, there a couple of days where after getting to the Library early, I would have to leave after about an hour cos I wouldn't just be in the mood to read. That happened like 1 out of 20days.

(4) I last did Jamb in 2013 so I really don't know if there are better textbooks. Ask your guys who got very high scores. You can check the Jamb curriculum or something too.

P:S Do not let anyone discourage you. You will get in this time. I had a similar experience only that I wrote that twice. I was really determined. Got a low score in my 1st Jamb, chose UNN as 1st and 2nd choice. Didn't get admitted. I was like 'no wahala'
Sat my as* down the 2nd time, read well and had good friends. Chose U.I as 1st choice and Ilorin as 2nd choice. Got admitted to both schools and then accepted U.I's admission.

Finished medical school from U.I this year; July(Still waiting for induction). Everything to the Glory of God.

You should also be aware that Students in the College of medicine in U.I now have to pay quite a lot yearly throughout their study years. We paid #85,000 in 2018, #100,000 in 2019. 2020 could be #150,000 or more. So, make sure you are financially OK before coming to U.I

Cheers
