Hello people in the house, id appreciate some information about applying for Canadian study visa. My sister has two kids and she will like to take them along with her, she has received the admission already and the next step will be to apply for the student visa. Does anyone have advise on how to package the application, will she need to prove that she has childcare in Canada? Has anyone gone through the process with a similar situation? |
Sorry about all these issues with CIC... It happens quite a lot especially with TRVs... My best advise is for you guys to start your express entry process for PR...In my case, it took me less than six months from creating my an express entry profile on June 24 2017 for my spouse to land in Canada on Dec 13 2017 - despite passport renewal and other medical issues in between. Before the PR we had applied for visitor visa for my wife twice and SOWP twice and each of them took at least four months each and one took close to six months. I hired lawyers in between that filed an appeal/redress, one of the immigration lawyers reached out to the VOs in Accra and Lagos and even I personally wrote a letter to the Minister of Immigration or whatever to express our anger. From the GCMS notes, I noticed that once you have been refused once or twice, your chances become slimmer with your subsequent applications. They will look for any reason to deny it - I have a feeling that they become risk averse until you present a solid case or hold your ground if you have time. Our fourth denial, the VO initially said that we did not include proof of relationship and that our marriage was fake. Subsequently after providing pictures and everything all over again, the VO came back and said that the pictures are not the same people on our passports. Bear in mind that all of these denials took over 2 years since 2015. Except you want to risk the time and money wasted between the stupid back and forth with VOs who don't follow or just ignore rules, I will advise that you switch to EE. It is straightforward, easier and you jump straight to PR status as opposed to waiting for work permit. PS: Someone replied from the office of the minister of immigration saying that they understand my situation and anger but there is nothing they can do about it. The VOs have the absolute power to accept or deny an application. The same person went ahead to congratulate me before hand that my express entry has been approved weeks before it showed up on my profile. |
dodoyemi:You don't want to know. I am so livid right now. My wife's rejection letter had the same, only that they stated "Not satisfied that you qualify for OWP" without stating C41. I am convinced that these guys in Lagos/Accra are either retarded, working with a quota or outrightly discriminating. EE is the way to go at this point. These guys are insane, I can't deal. |
BE811APP:Our immigration horror story continued. And yet again she was rejected for the fourth time. This time, there was no reason stated at all. There is no point reapplying anymore, we will just wait for the EE to kick in the next few months. |
maplez:You bet...even foreign spouses of permanent residents and Canadian citizens too. CIC is known for notoriously keeping families apart. It is even unimaginable to think of the time it takes to process these applications that they reject with flimsy excuses. |
VEIL1234:Well, we have been at this for the last two years. The first application was a visitor's visa in December 2015. I was a student at the time and they essentially rejected based on assets and other things. We did a second visitor's visa application in July 2016. At this point I had already graduated and working full time NOC A and got a provincial nomination. It still came back with a rejection saying something about my wife does not have ties or something like that. We decided to hire a lawyer here in Canada. The lawyer explained that we should have been doing SOWP instead of visitor's visa but the VO could have still granted based on dual intent. So she helped us package a SOWP application by paper from here and mailed it to Nigeria in December 2016. Sometime between when the application was processed and all, my wife was interviewed for an American visitor's visa and was rejected because of previous rejections in Canada. We forgot to update this information in the background section of the SOWP application in December 2016. The application came back rejected in April 2016 stating incomplete background info. This recent application essentially addressed the error in the background info as not an intent to misrepresent bla bla bla. Long story short, my biggest regret is not starting express entry soon enough. I was doing PNP PR and close to 10 months in now out of the estimated 16 months. I also started Express Entry in June, got ITA in July and AOR about a month ago. EE usually takes about 3.5-4 months based on the timeline of my colleagues here at work, so I am really counting on EE more than anything else. Altogether, I would implore most folks that can start EE to start EE instead of SOWP. These people don't have sense especially when processing applications from Nigeria. I don't understand how the same profile that grants your PR cannot grant you visitor's visa or SOWP. PS. All of these things would have consumed $10k minimum. |
dodoyemi:Bro we are somewhat in the same boat. My wife applied on April 25 and I just now tracked it based on your update. It said passport ready for collection on August 11. Which also means she can't confirm the outcome until Monday. This weekend is going to be rough. Only difference is that she did upfront medicals. BTW this is her 4th application. Very long story on the history of this nonsense. |
maternal:Thanks for the response. |
geotherm:Thanks a lot. Yes, she is included in the PR application. This is quite frustrating. I am hiring an immigration lawyer from here to help with Spouse Open Work Permit. |
Hi guys... |
Past APC governor's list |
Nigerian politicians have issues...the earlier we return to a parliamentary system the earlier the move away from all these mess. The way these Presidents and Governors act like they are the Kings of their respective states is appalling. Where are the institutions? How is the governor responsible for taking out project funds? Why is the governor involved in petty things like boreholes? How do these governors have access to the state treasury? Instead of governors to focus on strategic leadership they will be busy awarding contracts and building boreholes and roads up and down like the ministry of works and co are non-existent. What happened to creating a 5 - 8yrs strategic plan for the states that will require the inputs of all stakeholders and highlight all the things that will be achieved or done in the next few years. Instead, these ones will be busy awarding contracts like permanent secretaries. This is how human beings get things done...http://www1.toronto.ca/wps/portal/contentonly?vgnextoid=55170621f3161410VgnVCM10000071d60f89RCRD instead of all these ridiculousness that you read everyday in the papers. At the end of the day all these APC, PDP whatever are all the same set of crooks without an iota of what leadership is all about. I bet most governors do not even understand what their mandates are about. That is how they spent the oil windfall of 2009-2014 like drunken sailors coming out of it severely indebted to commercial banks. CBN has gone to bail them out again issuing FGN bond on their behalf. I hope the dark days that lay ahead will enable us wake up as a country. Pissed off Nigerian... |
The truth is that, it all depends and very relative. The analogy about the queen of England and Kate Middleton does not quite work. Please go to Beverly Hills in California or Vancouver in Canada and see wealthy children display wealth. The reality is that, it depends on how wealthy you turn to be. If you are top 1% then your kids do not have to work at McDonalds to understand money. And if they eventually do not get upright quickly you can influence a lot of things in their favour. If you are a struggling middleclass like most of us will end up, then you have to let them understand how competitive the world has become and largely the survival of the smartest. I believe in social and volunteer work but the perversion behind is so much about employers looking for in on your resume. Most white people do it to look good. Of all my school mates and colleagues at work, most of them didn't enjoy volunteer but just a means to look good on resume. I will not encourage my kids to work at McDonalds but teach them at the very early stage to be competitive and entrepreneurial. If you are wealthy, you can kids can be raised anyhow you want. Top 1% will almost always dominate the rest of the population for generations to come. |
I was in your shoes exactly three years ago. Same bank, same position. The question you should ask yourself is "What is my long term career objective?" One thing is certain, GTBank does not care if you have a masters degree or not as long as you continue to deliver your yearly budget. Also, getting a random MBA (no-name) has a very marginal effect on your career prospects considering the pool of employable candidates in Nigeria. Finally, commercial banking in Nigeria (Operations or Marketing) requires very limited skills which are not easily transferrable to other industries. This is the reason why you will mostly see people change jobs within banking and not outside of banking. One a second note with respect to your salary, it looks good now until you get married in Abuja and realise how significantly underpaid you are. As the last I heard of the bank, promotion is now very rare with a minimum of two years and not exactly certain year-on-year. So, at best you are looking at SBO in five-six years. Considering that you do not have a business background, the more time you spend in banking the more you box yourself to a corner and become unemployable. My advise is that you should forget MBA for now and enroll in a professional course/certification (ACCA, CFA) asap, even if it kills you in the process. |
Dear all, Is there anyone here going to Uvic or BC this summer? If you're here please holla. You can send a DM. Thank you. Cheers |
khemthar: Hi DrNeoCortex,Thanks a lot for the info. Na hustle o, selling all my stuff in Nigeria. As regards the other schools, my GMAT score is 610 but my undergrad CGPA no make am 2.91. I'm making a case for myself at Victoria based on my years of experience and all. Still hoping to hear from some other schools sha like Ryerson University, Simon Fraser and co. Thanks again. |
Hi all, I am quite happy i stumbled upon this thread while trying to figures out what to do with my plans. Apparently no one here seem to have a similar issue as I do or at least the few I read. First, i have been working in Nigeria for like 5yrs and presently earn about N380k monthly minus bonuses and all. Through must of these i have been able to save up for my MBA and written GMAT. I'm applying to the University of Victoria (sept 2014). The tuition is about $33k (N5million). My issue is that i do not have a sponsor to support my visa application. However, i hve been able to save about N6million so far for tuition and living expenses. Another N1.2million in my retirement savings account. Kindly advise if I still need a sponsor as my parents are retired and do no wish to start disturbing Uncles and Aunties for sponsorship. Is it possible for me to be my own sponsor, considering that i have my tuition and living expenses in my account. Your response will be highly appreciated. Thank you. |
If anyone can kindly assist with the phone number of a Honda accord gear box dealer in Ladipo cos the price in Abuja here is like 200k which i don't have. I'm considering selling off the car as it seems to be back to square one. Toyota would never make a lousy car like that |
Mr. Eddy are you in Abuja ? |
Dear All, My name is Damola and I live in Abuja. I recently bought a 2004 Honda Accord Ex v6 and just under the two months of usage the gear box has packed up. I kindly need assistance on how I can get a good gear box in Abuja/Lagos for about N130k-N150k as the prices i have been getting are ridiculous. I am yet to recover from the cost of this car, hence another expense. Kindly assist. My number is 08036359691. The car has been ridden at the workshop for over 3weeks now. |
Dear Mistakay, Please help me with my Honda Accord 2004 model for the stereo unlock code. The code is U1222 L1470 Please help as I removed the battery head by mistake. My email address is damo4u2@yahoo.com God bless you |
I will put my analysis in two broad categories, 1) You can marry a rich guy if you yourself have won a couple of beauty pageantries in the past and must be into big time modelling, and you wont mind being subjected to physical abuse. 2) You have an astonishing career and you are the best in what you do or you have an incredible talent that makes you rub shoulders with those that matter. Anythng short of all this, then am sorry to disappoint you that you are just dreaming or you dont have any plans of getting married. |
Why bother ourselves with movie making? |
