Politics › Seun, Here Is What You Can Do With The "Likes" - It Adds Value To NL Too by DropShot(op): 8:34am On Mar 31, 2016
Dear Mr. Seun,

I was just thinking about what you can do with our "likes" which keep piling up and make us wish you could exchange them for dollars when the following idea struck me. I am sure it's worth pursuing. grin grin grin

If the "likes" are converted to stars which confer grade/rank to the moniker owning them, it wont be a bad idea. The rank attained (as revealed by number of stars on a moniker also tells the value of such moniker on this forum. It distinguishes rookies from more experienced and old members of the forum. Here is how it works:

1. First 10,000 Likes = 1 star sticked permanently to the moniker.

2. Additional 20,000 likes (i.e, total 30,000 likes) gives the moniker another star. So, he has two stars permanently sticked to the moniker.

3. At 50,000 likes, the moniker will become a 3-star General

4. With 70,000 likes, the moniker should be conferred with a 4-star General status.

5. Any moniker with 100,000 likes and above is qualified to be a 5-star General in Nairaland.

6. To have a Field Marshall, I will suggest 150,000 likes for the moniker.

I believe this adds more value to the forum and the monikers who have plenty likes which are not reflecting their contribution to this forum.

Fellow NLers, how una see am? cool cool cool cool

Is Shell a Nigerian Company?
Is Mobil a Nigerian Company?
Is Agip a Nigerian Company?
Is MTN a Nigerian Company
Is Unilever a Nigerian Company?
Is Julius Berger a Nigerian Company?
Is Chevron a Nigerian Company?
Is Shoprite a Nigerian Company?

All these companies have been repatriating their profits, so it is not a new thing and I don't see why it should be an issue now.

Somebody should tell us the difference between these existing ones and the prospective companies whom we are afraid that they would come and buy up Nigeria natural resources for cheap if Naira is devalued?

Are they not going to pay taxes on profit?
DropShot:
When it is devalued to current black market rate or anything close to it, the black market rate will again double the new official rate. The point is that as long as the FG/CBN cannot meet our dollar demands, the black market rate will always be far higher than the official rate.

The solution is earning more dollars, which we unfortunately don't have the means to earn enough since it's oil that gives us the bulk of the dollars we need; or looking inward by growing our local Industries by producing most of those products we need dollars for so that our need for dollars is greatly reduced.

I hope this explanation helps.

The naira is already devalued in the market..
The official value is not being used in the market.. Why then should it not be devalued to reflect to realistic market value?
When you devalue it, you encourage investors.

Sensible, patriotic and well-meaning Nigerians understand that PMB is doing his best to make the country remain above waters. Should Naira be devalued, Nigeria will crumble and will cry for help to be rescued. I guess this is what PDP and their wailing zombies want to happen to the country under PMB so that their wrong choice in the last election can be justified.

I do not need an advanced degree in Economics to know that devaluation is not good for our economy at this time. The president fully understands this too, hence his firm decision not to devalue.

To start with, is there anytime in the past that devaluation has helped the naira or the economy? If anything, it will provide temporary respite for few months, and we get worse thereafter. So, why must we continue to do that which has failed us time and time instead of enduring the pain now, look inward to grow our economy, and become better off in 3 to 5 years?

Anyone who doesn't reason this way and align with the president on his stance not to devalue is an enemy of this nation. It won't be too much to ask them to relocate to another country of their choice. Enough said.

Ofodirinwa:
1. Taught Nigerians many bitter lessons, chief of which is that it is unwise to ignore history, for history ignored (1984) repeats itself.

2. Demystified Buhari the myth and reduced him to a doddering pathetic character whose bifocals are permanently stuck in today’s headlights.

3. Demystified our politicians headed by Tinubu as MBAs, Master Bullshit Artists whose stock in trade is doing nothing but loot the commonwealth while their sidekicks feed the gullible horse manure.

4. Demystified Nigerian intellectuals and thinkers as deeply unprincipled vuvuzelas for Any Government in Power (AGIP).

5. Shown that poorly educated and overrated Twitter overlords pregnant with bloated egos are a great threat to Nigerian democracy.

6. Taught Nigerians that social media can be an effective name-and-shame them parliament of accountability.

7. Exposed, thanks to social media the manic graft and incompetence that has passed for governance and civil service since the days of Obasanjo’s reign of kleptomania.

8. Proved that the distinction between the APC (crooks) and the PDP (thieves) is a distinction without a difference with the PDP marginally more honest.

9. Demonstrated with great style that personal opinions are a poor substitute for robust institutions of governance.

10. That the best two things that have happened to Nigeria lately are the oil bust and the Buhari meltdown, Nigerians are growing up fast and nice. There is hope!

Oya, your turn! Name the positives from this administration from hell!

There was a news on October 05, 2015 last year insinuating that the US will fund Buhari's govt with the copious sum of $2.3bn to help curtail poverty, and help minimize the impoverish state of the country.

Albeit, I haven't been able ascertain when the funds were dispatched to the government.

But it will be logical to deduce that the government have received the fundings because of the long duration existing between the date of the agreement and heavily substantiated by this statement from Osinbajo in the news:
.
And the fact that we don't anticipate the US to renege on such promise and breach the agreement.

So where is the fund and what was it used for since there is no economic improvement?.
So, because you don't expect US to fail in fulfilling the promise has automatically lead you to conclude the money has been paid?

And did you see where it's stated the money is to cover up to 2020? If that be the case, you should know that such grant is released piecemeal and not once.

Anyway, I don't expect wailing zombies to reason differently.

Fair enough.

Here is a man who claimed to be sick and needed urgent medical attention about five months ago. Since his arrest and no Medical attention, why has he not died in custody?

Had the govt allowed him travel, he will surely NEVER step his feet on Nigerian soil till after Buhari's presidency. He will even try to bring down the govt from outside with stolen billions of dollars in his possession.

Kudos to PMB on fight against corruption.

Firefire:
This has been my point all along, the corruption and looting happing in the 36 states across Nigeria is alarming. But APC has successfully diverted all attention to the Federal Government.

Let me start from SW, the looting during the era of Gbenga Daniel in Ogun, Ladoja/Akala in Oyo, Olagunsoye Oyinlola in Osun, Bola Tinubu in Lagos, Fayose/Fayemi in Ekiti, and in the immediate/current dispensation Fashola in Lagos, Aregbesola in Osun, Ajimobi in Oyo, and across all region in Nigeria is an eyesore.

Until Nigeria prescribe Death by Hanging or Death by Firing squad to all looters, we are yet to be serious in our fight against corruption.
I don't doubt that all those you mentioned are corrupt, including many more. And the fact that probing your benefactor is not easy at all especially in Nigeria is not lost on me and should not be lost on us all. What I find disturbing is when a governor, who came in from an opposition party, such as Wike and Fayose, find it difficult to probe their predecessors. It can only be one thing responsible for failing to do it; and that is their own plan to steal as much, if not more, than those they succeed.

Death by hanging for all looters of our common wealth both within the state and across the country. angry
Our problem is the states. Buhari cannot be focusing on looters of state Treasury when he hasn't done a quarter of what is required at national level.

Why can't States probe their predecessors? Is it because they're also there to steal?
