TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by DrPrincess: 4:29pm On Jun 18, 2016
We, d parents already gave baby a name even from d belly, n that ws written on d BC. The naming ceremony is more for prayers, though 'culturally' it's at the naming that the 'world' gets to know baby's names.
sugah:
DrPrincess ok. But the baby already gets its name written on the BC on the day of birth, right? So the naming ceremony is just for formalty?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by DrPrincess: 11:32am On Jun 18, 2016
Ehhh, which 1 is 'deny grandparents their joy' the grandparents would not mind na, mayb except it's their very first grandchild.
For me, we told them to send names a day to d naming, n we did d naming in a Redeemed church (baby had 14 names, as pa firstborn things, lol), sent them pics. When we returned, we did d baby dedication with celebration.

sugah:
My own question is a bit derailing but its kinda connected grin

A manager in my office asked why I decided to birth in the US and deny my Parents (well not mine cos we don't do it) and my inlaws the joys of Day 8 naming ceremony undecided In his opinion (not that it matters to me), 'better healthcare' is an excuse and I shouldn't use that to deny the grandparents their joy.

So my question is to the Yoruba 's amongst us that don't get to travel with their mothers...How do you handle the 'naming ceremony ' issue?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by DrPrincess: 11:22am On Jun 18, 2016
Okies. Many thanks. I was wondering if it meant getting a visa without an interview, n trying to renew d visa. Thanks for replying LadyGuinivere
LadyGuinivere:
Big grammar for 'you were given a visa the very last time you applied.'
Somebody could have a B visa.upon expiration you reapply either via interview /dropbox.if the subsequent application results in a refusal, u will no longer be qualified for dropbox. Capisce?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by DrPrincess: 9:54pm On Jun 17, 2016
Pls kindly explain what the bolded below means
chloe7:
To qualify for the DHL Drop Box Visa Renewal Program, visa applicants must be applying to renew either a B1/B2, an F, ...

For B1/B2 visa holders:
• The applicant is a Nigerian passport holder; if not a Nigerian passport holder, the applicant principally resides in Nigeria and their last visa was issued in Nigeria;
The applicant’s last visa interview resulted in an issuance;
• The applicant was issued a two-year B1/B2 United States visa;
• The visa expired no more than four years prior to reissuance;
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by DrPrincess: 7:30pm On Jun 10, 2016
You don't have to renew before you travel. As long as you travel before it expires. You can travel with it even a day or 2 before expiry. As long as you get to the cbp bfor it expires.

Hello house! First timer here. Pls I have a visa that expires on the 11th of september and I intend traveling on the 1st of September cos my due date is in November. I want to know if I have to apply for a visa renewal before I travel (that is before the expiration date of the visa) or I should apply for renewal  when I get to the US ( that is after the expiration of the visa)‎. Will I be allowed into the states with my almost expired visa wen my due date is in November? I need answers plsssssss

They don't have a particular num of weeks. I travelled last year with them at 36+6days n was not asked for any fit to fly document. Check their site for any updates on pregnancy policies.
simababe:

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by DrPrincess:
A) it does nt matter. I used a card from an American bank. Card belonged to a friend. My GTB naira card did not work.
B) paid for expedited, sent it on a tue afternoon n got it on thur morning. This was 2015.
Paid d innovate money with d card, bt sent money order (expedited cost, + d embassy amt-i think twas $35 or so) to d embassy at Atlanta.

telias:
Hi all. I had a baby in 2014 and processing the Nigerian visa thenseemed complicated. Got stuck at the payment page where it was compulsory to use exactly the same name on card as the name of the visa applicant. Plus I called the 3 embassies again and again without making a connection back then. Was pressed for time so I resorted to using Tanko and got in 3 days.did not mind paying the$50 diff then. However, since there are people here who have done this successfully, please help with this info
a. Does it matter the name on card used for payment?
b. How long does it actually really take to get back the passport
c.Does one get prompt responses now via telephone or email to the embassies and which one -to follow up on an application?
Thanks

PS: just arrived in Dallas but POE was very uneventful so transcript will bore you in the spirit of giving back. The only thing was I was asked a question which I have always wondered what response to give " why don't you have your baby in Nigeria, why the United States?

My heart leaped initially but I just responded that I was told it is not illegal to have a baby in US so I chose that option. we moved on from there.

MommaT:
Lol, thank you, i dont want to stress her o, they will get onions
I think it depends on d poe n d person checking. My noodles were collected at atl cos he (at agriculture check) said even though it ws nt written on d pack, it ws part of d ingredients. I ws so shocked, n he went ahead to show me chicken written as part of d ingredients.
